The Poolie Bunker

More than likely.

Cinzano Bianco with Lowcocks Lemonade..

Chip pans with lard..lamb chops that were cheap.. and snakebite lagers that changed the night.

Package holidays.£150 pp all inclusive ..and fags galore in the suitcase.

The fags payed for the holidays

Same with Lamb Shanks, used be cheap but now nearly a luxury food.

Bad luck if you got sat up the back near the smoking section, it must have been a nightmare for the Trolley Dollies, I imagine their uniforms would stink of smoke at the end of the flight.

sliced tongue and spam being cheap and not a luxury food.

And worse some got cancer from those horrible smoking flights. Stuck in a smartie tube full of smokers must have been pure hell for them.

Scud books full of lovely hairy minges.

Red Rover Bus Tickets @ 2 shillings & sixpence.

Us kids in the late 50's early 60's could travel on all/any London Transport Red Buses for the day. Didn't we "collect" some bus numbers & ship names from the Ian Allen books and on other times train names.

Remember The Bull Worker,
https://www.bullworker.com/

Our kid had one, it was deadly….all the rage for three weeks, dumped in his wardrobe.

i collected bus tickets and actually had a few ticket machines as well but never knew where they actually came from including an old WHC one. lasses for some reason kept ones where there seerial numbers added up to 21 for a reason i never knew.

Aye, I bought one from one of the the second-hand shops in Horden. Bag of shite.

It ended up in the skip - along with the "so good I bought the company" Remington shaver, the K-Tel Record Selector and the Ronco Veg-o-Matic.

Note for our younger members: For K-Tel and Ronco, think JML only much cheesier.

Working in Barclays Bank at 16 and cashing a cheque for £5 and getting 10 brand new 10 bob notes.

In pub later with fellas and pint of mild was 1 shilling & eight pence - 6 pints for one of these 10 bob notes and I was drunk!

The dynamo on a bike which generated power for the lights by connecting to tyre, downside if you stopped the lights went out.

My old man returning home from a 2 till 10 shift at the Steelworks got a fine at raby road traffic lights because his dynamo had stopped at the lights. The Bobby was a complete and utter knobhead for fining a hard working man for stopping at a red traffic light.

Aye, but it made you wary….I lost my back light on my bike coming home from work and got a torch out of the stores, went in the waste rag bin and got a piece of red material, taped it round it and stuck it on the back….worked a treat….I’ve still got five bikes out the back in a shed, all tucked up.

There was a copper in the 70s- 80’s who stood at the back of the Town End, Rink End following the home supporters round looking down over the crowd, no other copper did that …….found out years later he was a regular at Pools when not working and later had a season ticket …..used to wonder why hestared into the far distance.

does make you wonder how many of those crap stuff you mentioned were sold. you can add those small hand held trouser presses to them and more recently those breville things that are staple diets of junk shops and car boot sales.

Minnie the Minx is still 10 but celebrated 70 years of publication during the week.

The good old Beano.

Good old Beano my arse…after what they did to the Bash Street Kids they want flogging.

With views like that Snowy you will end up in H.M. Prison Slade!

Billy horners Datsun wait a minute he might still be driving it with 100 million miles on the clock

On the last flight to the moon it was used as a landing craft.

Was Billy still in it

The tunnels nearly finished…..it’s a secret between me, you and World Wide Web

Sturmey-Archer gears..You a 3/5 or 10 speed man mr j.?

Best of the lot so far for me.. ...and that was some punch on the jaw.

How old is Dennis the Menace now ? ... you wouldn't want him moving into your sheltered housing now would you.

There was a spoof version of this advert in the Viz.

Fag machines on the outside of shops.

Thats right for you young people, on the outside.

just imagine though what they,d make of that charles atlas advert and how they,d actually change it for todays world. the mind certainly boggles with the alternatives that can be used.

Ring pulls that detached from cans.

Old driving Licences - Reddish in colour and about 3" x 2" Still got mine dated 1966

Snow on Christmas day.

my party trick was opening a can of Watneys Super Party with a swiss army knife in seconds.

That reminds Mr S. that my Grandfather (Dad's dad) was a wheelwright for Watneys when most of the deliveries pre WW1 to the 50's were by horses.

Corporation buses.

Don't think we need to worry, as they don't allow dogs in sheltered accommodation- also, how old would that make Gnasher in dog years?!

Was that RHM?
