We were better when we went down to 10 men.

Really pleased for Charman to get the winner.

Back to back league wins. Hopefully a bit more confidence and believe after today.

Makes for a lot better Saturday night when we’ve had a good result…..

Mathematically at the worst 6 pts behind the play-offs if we win Tuesday night at Fylde.

What did we do today that was different from the Marine game apart from the sending off? Was it it a different formation, different tactics?

There wasn't much in the match. First half, neither team created many chances. Then they scored just after half time, then Neo Ecclestone got a second yellow, then it seemed to spark us into life. The players rolled up their sleeves and scored two goals. We had chances to score more. Hornchurch had plenty of corners etc but weren't threatening. Our players put their bodies on the line to block shots, which pleased me the most.

Charmans goal was a beauty. I agree with what's been said so far about them seeming to roll up their sleeves after going down to ten men.

I thought Popov coming on made a positive difference. He's tripping over his own feet whenever the ball comes near him - but he runs around so much that it confuses opposition defenders.

I thought it was a deserved and hard fought win. Their goal was a total fluke and they never really threatened us too much. I thought Ecclestone was unlucky to be sent off, two soft yellows, a Hornchurch player did a pretty much identical foul on Ecclestone ten minutes previously and the referee didn't give a yellow. I think Jack Baldwin played him a bit for the second.
Jack Nolan looked decent and up for it when he came on, which is a big plus. I think once Will Harris starts firing he'll go on a run.
Nice to leave a match smiling for a change.

It's been a long time since our subs have changed a game for the better, Nolan was excellent with and without the ball. I agree they looked dangerous at corners which shows the value in having someone who can consistently put them in the right area instead of our lot who over hit most of them. They did start brightly and at 11 Vs 11 it looked like they had an extra man, strangely when they did have the extra man they didn't.
We absolutely deserved the win and it could easily have been a bigger margin.
Ecclestone is a huge talent but needs to curb the recklessness. The 3-5-2 set up looks O,K, same again on Tuesday apart from Ecclestone of course (maybe Nolan will start instead of Deeming).

Great to see the subs make a positive impact today. I thought Lavelle had another good game but with his 2 assists I thought Sheron was man of the match. Hopefully we can back this up with a win on Tuesday!

Just back from the game , the wind was a bit of a nightmare for both sides with balls in the air and I wonder if that had a big impact for their goal for the corner. First half I thought we were the better side but never really looked like scoring, lots of passing and control but somehow they just looked more dangerous on the odd occasions they attacked. Two yellows looked harsh but I wasn't surprised. We hit the post had a goal disallowed and I think deserved the win.
The subs made a huge difference, illunga and Nolan on the left when they came ran at them and had hands in both goals

Agree regarding Ecclestone.
When he got booked in the first half I just had the feeling he wouldn’t get through the game without getting another booking. Three red cards already this season isn’t really good enough however I don’t think he’s flying into nasty dangerous tackles, I think a lot of the time it’s over enthusiasm.
Hopefully the coaching staff can sort that part of his game because he’s a great talent

Good game.
Seemed to be passing and closing down better, this time for the whole match
Merrick came and missed the ball for their goal from a corner but the wind didn’t help
Pleased to see Harris and Charman get their goals, they both played well.
Ecclestone dives in to too many tackles when it’s clear he isn’t going to get there first. I certainly don’t think the first card was soft and he gave the ref a hard decision to make for the second and can see why he was sent off. I think he has huge potential but 3 sendings off this early in the season is unacceptable. The coaches need to stop the amount of sliding tackles he goes in for as each one is risking a card of one colour or another if he doesn’t get there the ball first.
Overall pleased with the performance, more determination, seem to be getting fitter.

Twice Ecclestone has been on a yellow card early in a game and hasn't been subbed. He needs to be protected by his manager. I think both Clark and Wild have left him on too long with a card given the sort of player he is. We are now getting balls into Harris in the danger area where he will score goals.

First half both teams were dire. They got their goal assisted by the wind and I think Merrick was to blame for it. Inexperience played a part and too long out of the game. Zero leadership on our part. Nobody tried to go forward until Jack Nolan and Luke Charman came on and took them on. They were ahead of us until this point, they tried one touch passes and ran forwards putting balls into our box at every opportunity. Something we were afraid to do. Not sure if Harris's goal was a hand ball but he didn't protest. Nolan looked a whole lot better when he came on and some of his passing through the middle was unlucky to be cut out by their defence. His corners are better than Miley's and I don't know why Miley doesn't get subbed or even starts the game. He's not the player he was when we signed him in my opinion. Charman's goal was superb and I'm chuffed for him. In the end we deserved the win despite the needless red card. Pete Wild really seems to care btw, hopefully we might have turned the corner. UTP

I thought Miley had a good game, always looking to get in the ball and trying to bring others into the game. He's rarely out battled or gets flustered but I do agree his set pieces are nowhere near the standard he set when he first arrived here. He's not been an automatic started under Wild, a bigger question for me is over the fact that Deeming starts almost every game but doesn't seem to do very much to affect a game.
2 tough away fixtures coming up and it looks as if Wild has got decisions to make with the subs performances and at least 1 enforced change coming. I reckon we'll get at least a point at Fylde but can't see many teams getting anything at Boreham Wood and we'll come back empty handed.

Our first goal was definitely an own goal by their big number 3 Ryan Inniss.

I had a feeling he might get sent off when got his first yellow card , but I don’t seethe lad as some malicious tackler….in fact the sending off was more pantomime than tackle with our ex player pirouetting after contact.

Miley is half decent when running with the ball.
But nearly always over hits the ball when he puts height on it.
Needs calling into Wildys Office for a 2nd 1on1 session.

Great end of match celebrations almost like we won the semi final of the FA Trophy and finally got to Wembley.

I wudent rule out a win at Fylde.

The Borehamwood game will tell us if we turned the corner.
No team wins every home game.

We did deserve to win the game . First half pretty even, although Hornchurch had quality all over the field . Better passing, fitter , quicker . Second half I missed the first goal as watching the replay from 11.30 pm last night . Seen it since and Merrick misjudged the cross . We looked again like we would lose in a similar fashion until Ecclestone got sent off. Thats the third time!!! He was having a reasonable game until then . We brought on our subs then suddenly we started doing everything the manager was asking. Crisp passing, numbers in the box and Harris equalised, after having one disallowed in the first half. Suddenly it was Hornchurch doing a pools as Wilde rather than settling for a draw urged his players forward. Minutes later Hornchurch were stunned when Charman popped up to slam the ball into the top right hand corner with the crowd going nuts. As the game went on into the final minutes Hornchurch like a boxer on the ropes tried one or two last efforts but the wind had been taken out of them. Queue the final whistle and Wilde running on the pitch like we had won the FA Cup . It was a smash and grab at its finest. You could see some improvement from training but there is along way to go . We are not good enough for promotion imo but Wildes pragmatic stipulation that he has to find away no matter what, proved prophetic.

Ecclestone's pace and attacking threat will be a miss while he's suspended. Have we got a RWB to replace him or will we change formation for the next couple of games?

agree, even 10 years back he,d have only got a caution for the two offences. know the game has changed but some of those lads from the past would not have made the 10 minuit mark and has the game as a spectacle actually improved since its getting close to a non contact sport played by players who make anything far worse than it actually is.

at ht i said that the game was a carbon copy of the marine one. just a nothing game. in the end the difference was the subs all improved the side and the players gave the impression of a team who were getting zero luck and breaks. a sending off which i have seen opponents getting away with worse, two goals chalked off, the woodwork being hit yet again, opponents who got the luck of the bounce and most 50/50 decisions from the officials. they certainly made good duracell batteries. will they actually be able to repeat this from the ko in the next two games and play with the hearts on there sleeves with the passion that was shown.

With so many new players, maybe the jigsaw is coming together……it appears Wild had the jigsaw box lid to refer to..unlike his predecessors.

Absolutely, it lifts the crowd as well when you get players doing that. Charman give it some yesterday and the crowd responded. Jack Nolan did it as well when he came on, makes a big difference.

well they certainly seemed to get the bit between their teeth and hope they can keep it there for two difficult away games. if the performances say they can then the season might not be a complete write off after all. one game can change a teams season in both good and bad ways. knowing how hopes have been dashed in the past i,ll just keep my fingers crossed and no more.

We are still on a possible tally of 111 points with 32 games to play. We can't think more positive than that. Another sixty points should see us in the play offs. Win the lot and we could be champions.
I'll get me coat !!!!!!

You should check out the Boreham Wood Highlights. They are imperious. I know teams will have injuries and drops in form but they look nailed on champs at the moment.I cant see Pools getting anything from Boreham except an arse kicking.

actully find them walking the league and looking odds on at the moment to reach the efl is worse than pools being in a relegation battle. yet another inside M25 side with a small fan base which due to other teams nearby will never raise but will get even more free money if they do go up. never like seeing any team being in trouble but i,d like nothing better seeing some of these new age teams crash and burn including some northern ones. i,m inclusive as i dislike salford etc as much as the se ones.
