I don't want to sound horrible.
But is the death of Burnhams Father going to be his reason to fund care by chopping the triple lock in a speech at Liverpool today.

And sounds like Deffo won't be a GE till well into 29.

I think it will get announced today then anutha U Turn in a few weeks.

All politicians say we can’t afford it, but we have one of the lowest pensions in Europe, so how do they afford it….?
Yet we a have a living wage…which is bigger than the pension….?

they afford it because they are not as generous as we are with the permanent unemployed and what the illegals get. more money for those who put the hours in to get it and the bare minimum for the ones who didn,t but could have done.

Looks like a double lock from 2030 If They get voted back in.

Inflation or 2.5%

So 2.5% for the foreseeable as we know inflation always gets fiddled down.

Triple lock stays on for another 3 years - 2027, 2028, 2029 (depending on when an election is called).

When one is, it's a very good bet that NONE of the main parties will promise to keep it for another 5 years if elected.

On a basic pension you'd do well to afford 3 trips round Lake Windermere in a year.

We have one of the lowest pensions in Europe by a considerable margin….. yet one 20 something commentator was describing pensioners as privileged while his age group are suffering.
Talk about entitled.

We don’t have the 2nd lowest pension in Europe, and Austria don’t pay an average of £3,500 per month.

You’re probably looking at the maximum possible pension. The UK pays the same flat rate to everyone, but other countries pay an amount based on the average income over their working life, so the big earners will receive a much higher state pension than the average working man.

The UK expects the big earners to have their own money put aside to fund their own retirement, rather than giving them even more money.

They are average incomes, not everyone in those countries has a well enough paid job to meet that average….you laying a smokescreen…?

And if so, why aren’t Labour, or Tories shouting it from the roof tops to justifying paying basic pensioners peanuts.….I ‘ve got a pension from one of the big EU countries.

thats totally true and nobody really minds that happening. problem in this country has always been the people who earn just over the average wage. they also struggle to make ends meet but will never be in the position to get anything extra when they retire dur to having a bit in the bank or a small private pension that gets them just over the minimum. do not know what the average life span is, but you have to wait to 67 now so you cannot have many years left to be a drain on the state when they have benefits for the lazy and dinghy diver illegals to pay for which in there eyes will be the priority.

No, the UK increasingly takes our NI contributions but increasingly expects more of us to save in order to get by in retirement. The old are not the sole reason why the benefits bill is rising, asylum seekers, 1 million NEETS, unemployment rising, ridiculous high numbers of able people claiming PIPs etc are draining the coffers massively.
Let's not forget, you only get a full SP if you've contributed NI for nearly 40 years so surely must be more entitled to being looked after than those who haven't or won't contribute?

Reform have promised to continue with the triple lock. The Tories will now be considering that keeping it for a further Parliament will be a massive vote winner. There are up to 12 million pensioners with a vote, it won't take much to return their vote to the Tories.
Burnham says his alteration to the triple lock will take a decade to create 15 billion, that's from 2030, when his proposal comes into effect. That is up to 14 years hence. What will 15 billion be worth in 2040. It won't even put a dent in the massive cost that free care for everyone will cost at that time.
He is also promising voting reform, I wonder if he plans to rob pensioners of their right to vote as well as their money.
I wouldn't bet against them doing that.

The c tax to land levy tax which would make the average Hartlepudlian 1k a year better off.

And the rising of the tax threshold has all gone quiet.

You get a full SP if you have 35 years of national insurance credits. That also means if you don't work for 35 years but sign on every 2 weeks, you get full NI credits, so you will receive the full SP, the same as someone who has worked for the same 35 years. There is no incentive to work all your life as you get exactly the same as someone who hasn't done a days work in his life & spent all day lying in bed!!

and thats the big problem but do not expect this government to change it. its a block vote like the one with the immigrants. whats it to them as long as they stay in power or get back in. remember that many disabled also work even those who are blind or have body parts missing yet some pretend they have a problem to avoid work. words pissing on them if they were on fire is not strong enough.

Scrapping the triple lock will save a much needed £600 million say Labour, but have just handed Angola £665 million to build a new airport & other bit & pieces.
It’s rather nice of them don’t you think.

It's not enough - Liebour need to reduce the state pension! Jeez! We have given £60m this week to the PLO (sorry, sorry! Palestinians) - sure this could have gone on a hospital in Grimsby rather than Gaza, but................

And when will we need to add to the £70m given to the Syrian terrorists - sorry legitimate and sensible Government....

Yes, let all those old folk (who have paid in for over forty years) die, without a proper health service, but happy in the knowledge that some entitled, over educated, dodgy sex individuals are sleeping happy.....

Alleged inflation up to 3.5%
I'm sure plans are in place to fake it down to 2.5%,by the time the double lock kicks in.

Can't have oaps affording Bingo anymore.
We have to look after the Boaties first and Foremost.

Riots and anti protest against governments spreading to further parts of Europe now.

It’ll be a very different membership for a start, we’d have to adopt the Euro and dump the pound and once we’re in we’re firmly locked in ..freedom of movement…no more boats a ross the channel, just jump on a ferry or fly…and our ‘contribution’ to the pot…..that’s just for starters…oh and no opt outs..

And no rebate, oh and the EU is a basket case.
For me, I'd far rather we gave independence to Scotland, Wales and NI (if they want a united Ireland that is) and realised England is a small independent nation not tied to either the Celtic or the EU parasites.
