Great interview once again repeating the players aren’t fit enough, were they following Clark’s diet before ?

Very impressed indeed by Pete, other managers I would switch off after a short while but with this fella, I have been listening to the end of his interviews.
A lot of us mentioned his name a few times over the years and I am very happy he is our manager. We have a good one at last!

I have the feeling Clark was just a cardboard cut out frontman.

A proper football manager who knows what he is talking about. Let’s hope he is with us for a long time to come.

It would have been great to get him in a few seasons back when his name first started being linked with Pools, but he was always going to opt for chances to manage in the Football League after leaving Halifax.

Bit like Dave Challinor, it's taken a little dip in his career to finally get him to the Vic, but better late than never!

The noticeable differences yesterday were our set pieces were a lot better and more accurate, we were better in and out of possession in that we didn't give the ball away so much and then fought to get it back when we did lose it, we got more bodies forward and quicker and closed down space better in our third, we backed each other up, everybody seemed to be singing from the same hymn sheet and best of all, WE SCORED FOUR GOALS.
We won the open play 3--1 but whereas their goal was well worked and well finished, a second glance shows that their scorer was well marked by two of our players seconds before he scored but, for some reason, both of our players moved away from him leaving him the space to pick his spot. If one of them had stayed tight he might have been able to get a block in. Something for the coaching team to look out and discuss.
Well done to all concerned as finally you all played as a team. Good signs Mr Wild and don't worry we won't get carried away................well maybe just a little bit.

Ive just rerun the game again on dazn this time stramed to my tv rather than my ipad. Missus was in bed last night so had volume low. First 30 mins thought our passing was a bit reckless final third . Got numbers in the box though for setpieces and corners. We looked solid and organised and before the penalty were pretty much even stevens with FGR. Thought the penalty was a deffo last night but this aftermoon looked soft. Then again their penalty looked soft too. After Pete Wilds team talk at half time we really took the game to them and the passing improved. After we went 3-0 we into defensive mode which was a mistake and conceded 2 goals. We were under constant from 3-2 down but slowed the game down which stopped FG momentum. Then come the wonder goal from Sheron and game over. We had 13 shots at goal , better than the usual 2 or 3 and they had 25. FGR a good side and most teams wont go there score 4 goals like that. Seems at last we have a manager who delivers what he says on the tin. Great motivator, great organiser and a great communicator. I like what i see. Could become a legend at Pools if he and his assistant continue in this vein. Congrats to the whole team and supporters

I realise highlights inevitably miss out a lot but our keeper only made three decent saves all game so it seems we defended pretty well for all FGR's possession. Those who saw the game, what was your impression of Jack Earing and Max Clark?

In my book Max Thompson has done enough to earn himself a proper contract - we need a dependable back-up keeper when Max Merrick comes back from injury.

Don't know what they're going to do with Fisher but presumably he's only got 12 months guaranteed in his contract and is not being paid a fortune, so isn't a massive problem.

Thompson definitely should be kept on. As you so rightly say, he seems a solid, dependable keeper and as the season progresses, we might easily find that Merrick is prone to niggling injuries so a reliable back up is imperative. Fisher can go out on loan: we have a history of doing this with our young keepers.

Agreed. I’ve been impressed with Thompson so far. Be good to get Merrick back but Thompson, on performances to date, is a more than capable understudy.

It’s vital we give Thompson a contract and not be caught short again as we were, how many points has it cost us?
We need a viable keeper for cover and who knows when Merrick could be called back or have a recurrence of his injury, it was a huge mistake from the very outset not have suitable cover.
Just another cock up for the list of avoidable errors.

If he avoids injury then will/should become the next 1st choice as Merrick will soon be sent out to a higher standard.

Get him signed up for me.
Next seasons goalkeeper issue sorted in advance.
