I can’t get enough of the publicity Farage, Tice and 30p Lee on their excuses why Farage never turned up at the count, Tice lost the plot in an interview with Nick Ferrari and Lee more or less said they couldn’t rely on the Police for security yet Farage has been strolling round Clacton all week with no Police presence ?

As I said the first person not to turn up at a count since Bobby Sands was elected in 1981 because he was in prison.

And what real difference does it make wether he turned up or not, as I said af least he turned up with his name on the ballot paper.
There was a chance to oust him and they knew they had t a hope in hell so didn't even bother.
Pretty much demonstrates that no matter whats thrown at him he's still more popular than Tories or Labour eh?

If you keep up with news PTID Reform have dropped to 3rd in the polls not helped by Farage and his dodgy money deals and also not turning up for the count, Labour have a 9 point lead over Reform now. Reform need to pull a rabbit out the hat to stop them slipping even further down the polls of course they will announce another unworkable immigration policy not realising it’s not causing the UKs economic woes but the gullible will be taken in.

Yesterday's YouGov Poll shows Labour at 24%, Reform 22%, Cons 21% so not sure where you get a 9 pont lead for Labour from?
Count Binface got more votes in Clacton in Thursday than Labour got in 2024, off a reduced turnout. Farage's vote went up on that reduced turnout which suggests that Farage is more popular now than he was 2 years ago in Clacton.
Meanwhile Starmer the most unpopular PM in living memory (even upstaging Thatcher) has been replaced by an emergency stand in who less that a month into the job is already seeing his popularity fall as the Burnham Bounce flattens.
Anyone who believes that a single party will get a majority at the next election is deluded imo, Farage or his successor will be the Kingmaker.

if those percentages stay the same at the next GE i just hope each party get the same percentage of seats and not the farce of reform getting a handful of seats but get more actual votes than the party who came 3rd.

There should be a new rule. If you resign to force a by-election, you shouldn’t be allowed to enter it. This thing at Clacton has been an expensive, unnecessary farce.

Maybe, yes.

Personally, I don’t like what Farage has become, but leaving that aside, what a waste of money, all for no benefit for anyone, including himself.

Burnham was the ‘Starmer Out’ candidate,…Party politics didn’t come to it…I’d have voted for him if I lived there to get rid of Starmer.

Only 44% of the electorate bothered to vote, 56% stayed at home, hardly a huge vote of confidence is it ?

Probably more illegals here from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Africa, Myanmar etc, they do all the menial tasks the Thais won’t do mostly illegally with out work permits,HMO accommodation is more economical to than housing them in hotels irrespective if they are illegal or not.

There is another good song to list here, “Got to Give it up” Thin Lizzy. Phil’s on about his drug related issues here, it’s a bit dark. But we digress.

No matter how you try to spin it Jamie it's a vote of confidence, there were less people turned out on Thursday but he got MORE VOTES than he did at the GE with a higher turnout.
Percentage of votes cast for Farage was up on the GE result.
Total votes for Farage was up on the GE.
Count Binface got more votes than Labour and the Cons at the GE - the real reason why they didn't bother standing.

then what percentage of the population actually voted for labour, or against the tories as i call it, to give them that massive majority in parliament. possibly about the same percentage as who would vote for them now. take away the block vote from the usual suspects via there leaders, students and the ones just following a family tradition there supporters will be thin on the grounf.

I've got to chuckle when Jamie labels anyone who likes any Reform proposal as being a Reform Supporter, then usually tags Reform Supporters as gullible. The gullible were the Labour voters who voted for a party who had nothing to offer and the only changes they've brought about are making things worse.

but clacton is not unique in low turns outs especially when the result was a forgone conclusion.

And he got a higher number of votes even though it was a lower turnout - most would say that's a huge vote of confidence.

That's Jamie speak for I'm not going to answer your question. Mr Accy.
He is probably correct but I am going to get into a debate about how the voting system works, I did reply, it was about the voting in Clacton.
You did reply but you didn't answer his question and yet you are forever asking for evidence of you not answering questions when you get accused of it. Well there's one.
Didn’t reply about what Derwent, what did he ask me ?

Let’s see the feedback after Reform said today they will scrap P.I.P. striping benefits from the disabled and people who are unable to look after themselves, P.I.P. means their relatives take care of them instead of going into Care Homes. It’s a huge potential vote loss for Reform or a smokescreen like their other schemes to stop the spotlight on Farage dodgy financial dealings.
Over 3 million people receive P.I.P. certainty not a vote winner for Reform.

There isn't an election coming Jamie?
Instead of forecasting the demise of Farage why not face facts, the rise of Reform is as much about the failures of Labour and the Torys than their policies.
Although cutting benefits (where they're being exploited), cutting Governmental costs, and stopping the boats are quite popular here in Blighty.

Only 44% of the electorate bothered to vote, 56% stayed at home, hardly a huge vote of confidence is it ?

I'm assuming you read his post. My assumption is based on the fact that you replied to it. If you can't see or read or understand what is written then there is no point in me repeating it.

Jamie doesn't recognise what a question is, the words what, why, when, who, how, don't register at all even if followed by multiple questions marks.
Maybe we need to add THIS IS A QUESTION JAMIE in future when we're looking for an answer.

If you asked him for the date of the Battle of Hastings he’d tell he prefers welded joints to riveted joints….nothing makes any sense.
And that he disagrees with, he feigns ignorance of.
Must be AI.

Strange how the announcement about cutting P.I.P. and other disability benefits was made after the Clacton election, how many votes could that have cost Reform ?
A total of 9,627 residents receive the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in the Clacton constituency. This figure is close to 10,000 people and represents roughly 18% of the area's working-age population, giving it one of the highest claim rates in the UK.
National Standing, Joint 15th highest proportion nationwide and the highest rate in Essex.

The PIP comment isn’t aimed at the old or truly disabled, but the large number of unemployed young who can claim PIP because they have anxiety and other similar non disability…sitting on their arses and classed as disabled when it’s bleeding obvious it’s a huge piss take .

That’s the trouble with living the quasi colonial life of an administrator half way round the world and not being able to comprehend the problems for those who actually live here.

Relying only on news outlets that share your ‘opinion’ is the fools way of learning anything….as you keep proving.

When you read the details of the proposal to abolish PIP and put it into the context of what we see with our own lives, the policy could be a huge vote winner with the electorate.
PIP is an almost universal benefit, too easily gained by too many of the workshy, and it opens up other benefits for the abusers too. Reform are talking about more targeted support not removing support from those who need it. They're also talking about Employers taking up more of the financial burden of employee sickness through insurances which wouldn't cost them as they'd reduce NI for employers to cover it.
Let's face it, the benefits bill is way out of control and worsening so a radical approach is required.
Similarly the size of government needs radical overhaul, as does the NHS.
Instead of simply dismissing every popular Reform proposal, Labour should start "reading the room" and maybe start addressing the difficult issues instead of fiddling (in all sense of the word) around the edges.
Oh and you may have missed it Jamie, but Pensioner Poverty is on the rise under Labour - wonder why that is?

only a fool would think any political party will stop disabiity benefits for all. it would be political suicide if they did with the loss of votes from able bodied people as well as those who it affects. Bit like reading the headlines and not going further ot just wishful thinking.

They all talk about the need to cut the welfare bill and overhaul the system, but small tweaks and kicking the can down the road isn't going to work. Radical reform is needed but needs to be done in such a way that those in genuine need of support still received it. A huge task but we can't continue to give out so much free money, particularly to those who choose not to contribute by working even though they're able. About 1 million education leavers are on benefits rather than in work or training and this number is growing, it needs to be reversed quickly and these young people need to be the tax payers for the future. A society that makes a life on benefits preferable to working is heading down the pan. Politicians are paid to solve these problems not taken the easy option of burying their heads in the sand.
