Crowds dropped when we were relegated again but in the 3 years we've been back in NL they didn't drop much, less than 300 down from 1st year to 3rd year. Big drop between Div2 and NL expected with virtually no away supporters in NL.
Today will be a bumper crowd with the Smiffy feel good factor and Barrow should bring a reasonable following.
Hopefully something to shout about today and the players will feed off the energy from the crowd.

take away those who boycotted games under singh after relegation gates did more or less keep over 3,000 which was excellent with the crap on offer. think the gate yesterday would have been higher if the carnival at the headland has not been on and a few on holiday were back home. if the results go right for us we surely must top the 6,000 mark giving the club something to think about regarding away fans. surely the mini bus number of away fans do not need a complete rink end if we are struggling to get tickets.

Got to admit, I was expecting to get to around the 5000 mark yesterday, to almost hit 6000 was astonishing and especially as they didn't even half fill the rink end.
Don't know how the ticket office or kiosks coped or how slick they operated but turnstiles were moving just fine considering the high turnout. Must have done ok for catering income yesterday too.

Home crowd was great, but there were long queues for the Millhouse (leisure centre end) 15-20 minutes before the start. Only 1 adult turnstile was manned along with the 2 concessions turnstiles. Hopefully it'll be better in upcoming games.

and two out of the bottom 3 are favourites for the play offs at least. is there anything else where success can be bought like non league football.

The other end was a complete shit show as well. Admittedly, didn't join the queue till 2.45, but still missed the first 5 minutes & the queue behind was easily back to the car park. To add insult to injury, they wouldn't open the town end turnstile for Neale Cooper Terrace ticket holders & sent a bloke down the queue to try to filter town end tickets to their turnstiles. Would have been better employed manning the closed gate !
The club knew they'd sold over 5000 tickets. Must do better if they don't want to piss off the casual attendee

To further annoy me, I missed the announcement re my upcoming 70th birthday because the tannoy system is so bad !

Sorry, but if you don’t turn up until 2:45 for the first game of the season when everyone knows it’s going to be a much bigger crowd than we’re used to, then it’s nobody’s fault other than your own that you miss the start.

Worth bearing in mind for future games though, I hate missing the start of a game and we have long history of not being prepared to accommodate large crowds.

I got there at 2.35pm. Saw the queue from a distance and thought ffs but got closer and there was no queue at all for the Town End which was good for me but not fair on everyone going in the Mill House. Why is it always far worse for the Mill House? Would have thought there were more turnstiles for it isn’t there?

We had over 5,300 in for Landon Smith's first home game in January, but I don't recall that there was any queue to speak of. So the extra 500 was the straw that broke the camel's back, was it Except that most of them were in the away end

When everyone has a ticket, scanning each fan through a turnstile normally takes a matter of seconds. Perish the thought, but perhaps the club wasn't quite as well organised as it ought to have been yesterday?

No doubt they'll improve, all turnstiles will be manned in future and you won't have to take on the task of chiding your fellow fans

I thought everyone would be queueing up at 7am to be in line for the free pints.

We also had a new ticketing system in place and people using their new season tickets for the first time. I’m not saying Pools can’t do better, but rocking up 15 mins before kick off and expecting to breeze through with no delay at all, and then putting the blame solely on the club is wrong.

Use a bit of common sense and get there earlier, or take the responsibility for cutting it fine.

Hopefully the crowds will remain at this level, and people will get used to having to turn up earlier (get in at 2pm and have a couple of pints in the ground and give Landon your cash!)

About the same time for me but the queue went down fairly quick.
About 7 minutes to get up to the Millhouse seats.

Was no seat numbers so just stood up against the new rail terrace system which was OK.

All i’m saying is that if you turn up last minute, you can’t say that it’s entirely the clubs fault that you miss the start.

If the crowds were to stay at similar levels cut down on allocation to the poorer supported clubs to say 150 and segregate the Rink End to increase the home support. Southend have been doing this for a number of years.

And the other way around if we go up the pyramid
Give half of town end to away fans.
Only gets about 60% full at the most even on a sell out crowd.

Fully expecting the ground expansion to take off after Promotion.

if we get back into the league we need to offer seated accomodation to away fans so we cannot put them in the town end. agree about doing something at the rink end so home fans can sit there

surely arriving 15 minutes before KO should be adequate to get into the ground nowadays even with 5,000 fans in attendance if all the gates were open. know the club could be let down by people not turning up but the job is far easier than the old days of giving out change when we paid by cash.
