The de-industrialisation of the UK by Thatcher and continued by Blair turning our nation into a services pool for the world was a huge turning point.
Politicians who don't understand real world market forces was a huge turning point, yes it's cheaper to buy many commodities and goods from abroad - until you shut down your own ability to supply those items, at which point the foreign suppliers just upped the costs leaving us poorer both economically but also in loss of tradesmen and women. Coal, steel, shipbuilding, clothing, food, everything.

100% agree with you PTID.

Oxfordshire council going to court to get a ban on flying English or Union flags on lampposts and bridges, it's OK putting up rainbow ones though, or Just Stop Oil banners, etc
Apparently our national flag is intimidating and oppressive.

I bit like parliament.

No wonder it's Gunna change for the better in 29.

We are run by traditional Party politicians who pay lip service to what was once classed as normal, while slavishly serving minor political groups who share their views.
The established Party’s don’t hold traditional values and haven't for the past 40 years…the Uni educated elites in Parliament are just detached from the lives of traditional voters have nowt to offer.

YouTube same as everything else.
I'd suggest the large Labour majority was quite a bit to do with a desire to oust Starmer, even from bon Labour supporters.
The Mayoral election for Manchester will be interesting although the voting system has been changed in the last couple of days to give Labour a better chance.

If this was a normal be-election, Labour would have lost.
This was a vote on getting rid of Starmer the liability….even by a labour voters.

Is Burnham the answer ?……I’m not quite sure, he was a lower ranking cabinet minister in previous administrations and thought his time was up so took over Greater Manchester…but due to the lack of anything approaching capability in the present Labour Government, this ex MP was promoted to glory…. which shows how poor the choice is in the present ranks of MP’s.
We live in interesting times…this result is far from a revival of Labour hopes, it’ll be interesting to see what the outcome is.

Good news, the Gormless Greens were wiped out like a cheap firework rocket.

No one was voting for that nonsense, they were voting to get rid of Starmer,
You have a dubious talent for interpreting statistics to suit your opinion.

I doubt the voters who normally vote Conservative, Greens or Lib Dem voted for Burnham to get rid of Starmer, he is or will be bigger threat to them if he does become PM, they more likely voted for Burnham to keep Reform from winning, tactical voting. Reforms candidate was a poor choice hoping to emulate the plumber in the Gorton and Denton by-election. He was supposed to be a man of the people yet Councillor Rob Kenyon has attended zero full council meetings since becoming a local councillor, it doesn’t give the electorate must faith does it ?

Even the Labour Party want Starmer out.
You are just soooo out of touch with reality.
You spend your time a world away listening to the BBC, out of touch with reality.
Do you actually think you get the full picture from watching news that agrees with your biased
‘viewpoint’ only ?

Kindly show me a single line where I have ever praised Farage or Reform.
( at this point Jamie ignores the request as he knows he’s wrong…and moored up Shit Creek’ with the ebb tide going out.

Could this topic be re-named ‘The Jamie Saga’ please…under the fiction category…?

Of course the Labour Party want Starmer out that’s why Labour supporters turned out in numbers coupled as I said the electorate didn’t want the Reform candidate to win.
I never listesn or watch the BBC Snowy, I can’t legally get it here and I am not paying for a VPN to do so, nought of interest on the BBC for me, you’re so out of touch about me., the OLD syndromes again.
Praise Reform/Farage you never criticise them but criticise the other mainstream parties therefore you support Reform/Farage.
Snowy if I knew how to link quotes together there wouldnt be so many individual posts by myself.

I criticise those Party’s who have been in power and buggered things up.

As for criticising the untried…. that’s like criticising someone’s driving even if they’ve never driven a car.

Now show me one quote where I’ve praised Reform or Farage…your warped logic that not criticising someone means you support them is a joke…I never mention Hitler or Stalin….does that mean I support them…?

Think that goes to Trump, started a war then sets up a fund of $300 billion, gives the Iranians Carte Blanche control of the Straits of Hormuz, not far from doubling the price of oil causing untold damage not only to the American economy but all the other countries economies in the world.
If the memorandum, taken with Trump’s remarks at his hour-long press conference at the G7, is compared with a document the Americans tabled in 2025, it is possible to see how far the US has been forced to retreat, red line after red line has been erased.

I leave that to you….as you’ve just done by saying if you don’t denounce or criticise some one, you are for them….that’s pure Stalinist dogma and defies logic…….You never criticise Adolf Hitler on here, so using your dubious logic you must be in favour of Adolf Hitler…….Do,you actually understand what you’re saying….?
I suspect not.

Getting a bit ahead of yourself there aren't you, assuming Burnham gets the PM's job he'll find it a lot harder task than winning some piddly little by-election..Best wait for the likes of Farage and GB News to pass judgement on him eh..

Here's how social media works, you watched a stream of BBC Question Time and commented on the performance of the Reform spokesman (on this very thread), therefore you do watch the BBC regardless of how you access it.
It's as lame as a dodgybox owner claiming they can't and therefore don't watch Sky Sports.
Another thing about social media, is it's not easy to effectively hide your past activity especially on a forum like this.

I didn’t watch a stream of Question Time, it’s was a short 2/3 minute clip of Rob Kenyon the Reform candidate for Makerfield on a Political Custard vlog, not your favourite vlogger PTID, i never made a comment, I never comment on vlogs on YouTube.
PTID why do you think you know me and my thoughts, you like to think you do but don’t.

Jamie you made a comment about the Reform fella on BBC Question Time on this very thread. You watched a vlog with a BBC clip FFS, the title of the clip itself says it's QT which is BBC therefore you watched a BBC show.
Denying the facts doesn't make your truth true.

Dear me twisting facts, I do not watch BBC directly, i can’t receive it here, it was a short clip from the BBC, as I said I can’t and don’t want to watch the BBC here. Yes I watched a YouTube 2/3 minutes clip, does that make me an avid watcher of the BBC ?

Whats wrong with leftie topics, it’s good to get both sides of the story not like the current right wing MSM who will soon be looking to discredit Burnham. Noticeable Farage is only doing broadcasts from empty fields, sh*t scared to do face to face interviews now. I get the impression he is about ready to ride off into the sunset with his millions leaving carnage behind, if he goes Reform would collapse.
Why should it wind me up, definition of winding someone up, Winding someone up" is an informal British phrase that means to deliberately tease, provoke, or annoy someone. PC does none of those things for me, he makes factually correct vlogs but unfortunately you being a Reform supporter it goes right over your head.

Everybody who challenges you and inevitably proves you wrong is either a liar, ‘twisting the facts’ or just plain ignored.
It speaks volumes.

Where's the twisted facts then Jamie?
You said you never watch the BBC, now you say you watched a short clip from the BBC - therefore the statement you never watch the BBC is incorrect. Absolute straight fact.
Nobody said you were an avid BBC watcher - twisted comment from the master of deflection, denial, and twisting things.

What right wing or centrist media do you watch to get your "balanced view" then Jamie?
I'd say about 99% of your posts (not taking into account the rare football related ones) are anti Reform, Farage, Trump, Truss. Rarely any criticism of a PM and government widely considered to be the most inept in living memory but certainly the most unpopular (more unpopular than even Thatcher was) doesn't come across as very balanced.
