Some woman on her you tube channel ( they all talk shit to try n mug people to hit the subscribe button) reckons the Triple Lock will end in 2036.

Could easily be sustained if a government stopped prioritising lazy fuckas.
Sort immigration out.
Stop donating to other countries.

Well done to the older generations who don't pay much tax for now.
You were born in the right era.

Anyone who got mugged at the last GE surely have a 2nd chance at the next GE.

Mentioned today John Healey could be a challenger for the PM slot albeit getting on in years, 66.

He's certainly a man of principle given he's been a staunch supporter of Starmer but his resignation letter was spot on - how can he stand at the despatch box and defend the indefensible, it's a shame the rest of them are not as principled.

would not say that. more likely to fall less than any other country in the world with the usual excuses for it being thought up already.

Congratulations Trumpy on getting Hormuz open, he was the one it caused to be closed.
Being the ever pessimist when there are price rises for oil and gas due to wars etc they very rarely return to the levels they were initially. It will take months and money to clear mines from the Straits of Hormuz then move all the stranded shipping out.i doubt you will see much if any difference in prices.

Fuel has been dropping in price around here for the last couple of weeks, doesn't that strike you as strange, particularly as it was before the announcements, no signs of any shortages since it began other than panic buying, it's just been the government lining their pockets with extra surcharges.

And if they are how are they going to fund it, by taxing their rich mates more, strange how Reform throw some bait in before the Makerfield by-election. Reform also mentioned companies employing foreigners will be taxed higher, does that include the NHS who employ over 20% of foreigners ?
What happened to no tax if you earned less than £20000, scrapped as it was pointed it it would cost billions, Reform put forward all their great schemes but fail to mention how they are going to funded except by cutting benefits not saying which ones they would cut ?

Agree the government will be lining their pockets but the national debt of £2.9 trillion has to be reduced some how. Ok reduce fuel duty and vat on fuel what would you tax to make up the shortfall ?

The records stuck again, there won't be a shortfall there'd be a reduced windfall which you yourself agreed a couple of days ago.
Reduce benefits and aid to the boatees for a start. Removing the 2 child benefit cap was done when the country couldn't afford it.
Starmer is also offering populist policies both prior to the election but moreso the fact that he's trying to cling into his job.

Horrendous government.
And now they need to stop gay adoption.

This Baby Preston news is the most vile n disgusting news I've ever heard of.
2 sick gay boys being allowed to adopt a baby to use as a sex toy.
The blame game aimed at social workers.

This is on the government.
Surely to God this depraved law has t to be stopped ASAP before it obviously happens again.

they are getting 2.5p extra for every 2 litres of fuel we buy in vat since the trouble started. something not budgetted for therefore nothing to miss ifthey gave it back to us. thats on petrol so it will be more on diesel.

The others aren’t in power, these novices are.
Never mind the ‘Whataboutery’…..he who plots the ships’ course takes the blame…Captain Dogeye Starmer in this case.

I wouldn't tax anything more to make up the shortfall, taxing everything isn't the answer, I would address the millions wasted on welfare, civil service, other government departments and services.overseas aid, net zero and DEI initiatives.
We wouldn't need to tax anything if they ran everything more efficiently and sensibly. This government is as thick as s..t.

Government departments are institutionalised working how they have done for years, having worked in DWP offices on refurbishment projects I wouldn’t be in a job the way some of them performed. Flexi hours arriving an hour before the manager feet on the desk reading newspapers, 5 minutes before the manager arrived their heads were buried in their computers. Building up hours which could be accumulated for time off, Governments don’t run the country civil servants do.

And the uni parties wouldn't have the bottle to change any of that institutionalised waste, only Reform or Restore would be prepared to do that.

Not a problem and if you’ve put the extra time in they deserve it.
How you can possibly judge how hard civil servants work on you being somewhere for a few weeks doing a totally different job is a mystery….especially when you don’t know what the job entails.

Your missing the point Snowy, having your feet on the desks for an hour isn’t putting extra time in, i have worked in many offices over the years, it was not one off for a few weeks.

So there were no arrivals during Conservative government, you really need to keep up with the news instead of posting very racist comments KPG.
Small boat crossings across the English Channel are down roughly 40% year-on-year, with just over 9,800 people making the journey by mid-June. This decline follows increased UK-France joint enforcement on the French coast and improved disruption tactics, not perfect but an improvement.

then that gives you another problem when both put up a candidate for the same seat like in makerfield. they are going to split the vote big time unless they put there differences away for the good of the country. if not it will be another 5 years of labour but with less voting for them under the present first past the post.

And many countries are fed up with it and are exploring options to put a lid on it, including some EU countries. Bet they all make a better job of it than our lot.

its always different here when politicians are acting on public opinion or they actually want to take actions themselves. I for one have not forgotton the half hearted brexit from johnsons government because they were never in favour of it in the first place.

The Brexit we got was not the Brexit we expected or voted for. Watered down by civil servants and politicians protecting their own interests.
The cliff edge version would have been preferable to give us a fresh starting point.

Thats not the first time you accused me of false accusations.

Gunna be very generous n give you time to apologise because I'm a decent fellow Poolie gentleman.

No more chances kid.
Nip it in the bud now.

Apology for what, you called people on boats scum, isn’t that racist more so you have no idea who they were, were you there to meet them and interrogate them ? Not for the first time you have made a similar comment but I have been lenient with you in the past.

The Brexit vote was based on British jobs for British workers, the Eastern Europeans all went back home and now have been replaced primarily by migrants from South Asia (especially India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh), Africa (notably Nigeria and Zimbabwe), and Southeast Asia (such as the Philippines)

The Brexit vote was based on many things not a singular reason.

Ok not singular but 2, reduce immigration and the bus with the £350million for the NHS, did the NHS get the money? While the government later increased the NHS budget, economists and the Nuffield Trust have clarified that this funding did not come from actual savings or dividends generated by leaving the EU. Instead, the increases in health spending were funded through general taxation and borrowing.

And where do you think the £350 million to the EU came from, the money fairies?
And there were numerous reasons why people voted leave, ability to make our own laws, set our own tax rates, freedom from the ultra-controlling and increasing beurocracy, control of our armed forces, and many more.

Economic data and research confirm that the UK is generally worse off financially since leaving the European Union. Major economic analyses indicate that Brexit has reduced UK GDP by roughly 6% to 8%, resulting in a loss of thousands of pounds per capita and significantly lagging behind peer economies in business investment and trade. While proponents point to new independent trade deals and a control over national immigration policy as strategic wins, several economic and social realities define the current landscape:Slower Economic Growth:

Polling data consistently reflects the reality of "buyer's remorse," with roughly 60% of the British public expressing the view that leaving the EU was the wrong decision.

The infamous £350 million per week figure was a "gross" estimate and not a direct, available cash saving. The actual savings were significantly lower due to the UK's EU rebate and regional subsidies, and they were ultimately absorbed or offset by the general costs of leaving and the broader economic impacts of Brexit. The £350 million figure was widely debated during and after the 2016 referendum campaign. The money was never directly transferred to the NHS or any other single service.

And your point is?
The Brexit that was delivered wasn't allowed to be the Brexit we voted for and expected to be delivered. If it had been we may well have been better off.
The remorse has arisen due to the Brexit lite that our politicians decreed was what we were getting.
And if anyone thinks rejoining now would be a good idea they need sectioned, we'd be screwed in every way possible including having to use the Euro and coming under the control of the ECB, we'd have to commit to the EU army, free movement, etc not to mention the costs. Barnier screwed us royally when we left, to rejoin would be like taking sweets from kids for the EU.

For someone who lives on the other side of the world, Jamie takes an unhealthy interest in UK politics…..must be bugger all to do in Pieland.
When the real Brexit eventually turns up let me know.

Barnirr screwed us, whose fault was that ?
Michael Heseltine’s criticism of Brexit is scathing, labelling it a ‘con’ based on a ‘false prospectus’. However, he saved his most concentrated fury for the men who sold the lie – and criticised them for ‘going quiet’ on the matter because they haven’t been able to ‘execute what they lied about’.

“Never have so few done so much damage to so many with so little ability to execute what they lied about. Where are the paeans of praise to Brexit from Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, Nigel Farage, Dominic Cummings and their accomplices for the land of milk and honey they told us it would deliver?”

Because you are obviously way out of touch with public opinion in the UK
You rely only on the output of those outlets you agree with politically, for your ‘rent a fact’ replies and never approach politics with an open minded outlook but stubbornly cling to ideals long discarded by UK public opinion.

Yet you could argue that never have so many MPs and Civil Servants collaborated to defy the UK populace to thwart any chance of delivering the Brexit that was promised.
Severe damage was done by weak politicians and negotiators on the UK side simply because they wanted Brexit in name only. Michael Heseltine being one of them so no wonder he's hyper critical of the outcome.
Brexit is done and dusted and focus should be on the present and future shouldn't it not pining for the past.

it is, but the date when brexit was voted for seemed the date things changed for the worse in this country. illegals were the ones who came in lorries, nobody was offended for others, the alphabet people just got on with there lives without comment either way and immigrants were mainly white with a trade or occupation the country needed.

I think we were already on our way down the pan and Brexit was a bit of a reaction and protest to where we were heading.
The de-industrialisation of the UK by Thatcher and continued by Blair turning our nation into a services pool for the world was a huge turning point.
Politicians who don't understand real world market forces was a huge turning point, yes it's cheaper to buy many commodities and goods from abroad - until you shut down your own ability to supply those items, at which point the foreign suppliers just upped the costs leaving us poorer both economically but also in loss of tradesmen and women. Coal, steel, shipbuilding, clothing, food, everything.
