Corey McKeown. signed from Spennymoore. He is a winger, aged 24 and was Spennymoore's player of the year last season. Seems odd that no one has commented on this.

It got rolled into the 'Incoming Again' thread Ozzy - have a look at comments for June 11th. Think he'll do well for us.

Its a by product of going from famine to feast!
He'd normally have his own dedicated thread, but we've got carried away with all the quality transfer activity, that it merged into another thread.

Welcome Corey- may your stay be enjoyable and productive!
All we ask is that you give 100% each time you pull on the blue and white ;)

Best of luck to the lad, being frank though he's coming from a league below, from a team that didn't make the playoffs and I can't remember him getting rave reviews on Radio Tees reports on Spenny games, let's hope he does really well but it's not as if we've resigned Luke Molynuex back from Donny is it.

Molyneux came from the relative obscurity of Sunderland U21s didn't he?
Just got to give the lad a chance, he could have stayed at Spennymoor but was keen on joining us and progressing his career.
A few Spenny supporters have said he's very good on his day but if it's not his day you'd hardly notice him on the pitch. Maybe full time training and better coaching will be the making of him. I'd imagine we'll have enough in the squad that he'll have to do well to be a regular starter. Still a young kid and potential to improve him.

And to put it into context, he was voted supporters player of the year.

I am more than interested, Pools appear to recruiting more back room staff than playing staff, they must be at least a dozen players short of a squad. Are they waiting for the World Cup to finish to pick some players from teams there ?

It sounds as if LS is building a club for the longer term with the academy, U23, and backroom staff and that's welcome after tottering along on a year to year, manager to manager basis with no structure or vision for the future.
The signings are arriving and they're (on paper) quality players, I'm far more confident for next season now than I was only a couple of weeks ago.
At the moment we've got a basis of a squad including, Benn, McNally, Kuogun, Illunga, Sheron, Miley, Hunter, Charman, Nolan, McKeown, Hughill,
I'm sure there'll be another 4 or 5 this week and possibly the same the week after all raring to go for pre-season.

He didn't actually, we had him on loan from Sunderland for the back end of the season and he did well for us, played 15 games and scored 2 goals, he was then released by them at the end of the season and we signed him up in the close season. This lads coming to us untested at this level. Like I said hope he does well.

Molyneux was still a gamble even as a loaner from an U21 side, as are most signings, Kuogun and McNally turned out OK coming from a league below.
You pays your money........

you could say similar about nolan who played for a relegated side that will play spenny next season. he actually could play better in a higher league with better players along side him.
