Thus allowing our top goalscorers to leave and sign up for direct rivals in successive seasons. Not much of an effort to retain Mani by Raj and his minions by all accounts but could and should the new regime have made more of an effort to retain Reidy? Time will tell as and when his replacement(s) are recruited and begin to (hopefully) deliver the goods in a couple of months from now.

Just been looking on the Barrow forum. Looks like Reid has asked to leave pools, him and his missus have bought a house in Preston and she works in Manchester. Makes sense.

Perfect sense, doubtless Reidy will return to haunt us but hopefully we will have a more than adequate strike force in place by then.

It's a bit worrying that Barrow will be using their parachute money on our none retained players wages, while we still haven't signed anyone that wasn't here last season.

If Barrow have the sense to play Reid properly (in other words not as an isolated loan target man up front, with no service, again and again and again) then they've gotten themselves a very good free transfer here.

I literally can't wait to see who we've got lined up to replace him though. Must be someone good if we've let Reidy go on a free eh?

If they want away and both players clearly did then they have to go.
Maybe they were sold a Promotion dream wordage when signing for Pools.

Dosent take long for our forwards players to get pissed off.
Still 2 hours for a ST deadline signing to get over the 2000 mark!

It's not just the forwards. We also lost Francis and Topalloj last season. Two players who are more than decent at this level but didn't want to be at Pools even though they'd signed a contract to do a job.

Reid was released by Pools a month ago. He's got himself fixed up with a 2 year deal at Barrow so good luck to him. Got to assume Pools think they can sign someone better.

I thought we'd retain him- however not devastated he's gone either- unlike Mani going.
Granted the service was lacking but he didn't always seem that arsed and felt he went through the motions at times. Also think there.were times when he should have scored and didn't.

Definitely think there is better available- just got to hope Beechy can work his magic. I'd go for Blackett from Shields and Armstrong back from Carlisle for starters - would certainly show ambition in the goals column!

Not our players to retain…I think it only fair to let a new manager build his own team and not hang on to players in a team that had more Jeckyll and Hyde characters than a Hammer Horror Film.
You have to move on.

think thats a good summing up of reid at other clubs as well. possibly the reason we only offered him a years contract and not 2 like we did with manny.
