The ref was shocking all game. Early in the second half a Southampton defender played the ball with his hand inside their box and the ref indicated it had hit his shoulder!

To be fair though, the Saints were much the better team.

not an easy game to referee at all. it was like a ticking bomb about to go off. So much at stake for both teams. Apart from that incident i thought he did quite well keeping 22 players on the pitch for starters. suppose you could say he might have been better walking a couple including the benches instead of keeping a lid on the game.

If memory serves me right, Hull City have a pretty good PlayOff final record.

Would be tasty if Boro were playing the cheats next season.

After spying on the Boro Southampton have been found guilty, various punishments including points deductions awarding the game to the Boro etc but I think it will be a wrap over the knuckles it might have been different if the boot was on the other foot though, the southerners never favour teams from the N.E.

think its more of a case of which club is regarded as the biggest or most famous. feel sheffield wednesday have been let off a bit since they got a new owner that another team less well known might have suffered.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago when the league allowed Bury to fold but Bolton and SARFend were kept alive for the same piss poor financial mismanagement.

I'm sure Stockton beat Guiseley in a semi final game last season.

Only disqualification works as a deterrent. The fine no matter how large is inconsequential if they win the final and reach the PL promised land, and not sure how a points deduction could be applied by the EFL but carried into a different entity the PL, besides which a points deduction would be accepted by most clubs if they got promoted in the circumstances.
They cheated and should be punished effectively, but most likely won't be.

there is so much money involved at efl level what happens at stockton is of no relevance anymore. doubr anybody outside the local areas of both clubs knew a game was taken place never mind the rule breaking.

Not really about what they gained, but more about the rules were changed a few years ago to specifically ban watching an opponent within 72hrs of the match. I'd imagine they'd only really learn about set pieces rather than general tactics though.

I can see a situation where Hull are promoted as the third placed team as they won their playoff.

You'd be fuming if you were a Hull fan- had you already booked trains and accommodation, that you'll not be getting refunded for next weekend.

In hindsight, they shouldn't have allowed Southampton to play against borer, and replaced them with the next placed team which was Wrexham.

The whole thing is a shit show that has been ruined by one club.
They (Saints) can't be seen to benefit from this, otherwise it becomes a free for all.

I think the penalty is harsh to Southampton . However, the rules where there and Southampton
Ignored them. Interesting whether City get sanctioned . Think that’s the reason why their manager is wanting out

It’s not the first time they have been caught though.

Best case for Saints is the - 4 points for next season gets cancelled.
