whoever we get needs a good slice of luck in getting things right in games and recruiting players who actually come off. its just some seem better at gambling than others.

The gamble method rarely works.

No matter who we sign it'll always be a gamble, it's the same at every club - look at Isak for example at Liverpool.
We do seem to have a habit of turning what appear from their CVs to be decent players into poor players though - Campbell, Johnson, Daly, as examples.

is it the players or the managers actual CV or the ones doctored by the club just to give us hope and followed up by a scripted interview with them that sound make believe.

I think Lakeland might get a shock next year when he realises just how difficult it is to get out of the NLN. Clubs always assume the division below is a piece of piss - but it rarely is.

if they get there off the field problems sorted out and bring some stability to the club i,d say play offs is the minimum for them. doubt they,d have gone down if they had there squad sorted out for august and started the season with the rest. i have seen more than 4 worse teams than them last season.

Right, I've spoken to him and he said Hourihane is a household name at Barnsley from his playing days but is inexperienced as a manager and has a lot to learn. Defensive ( played four centre backs in a recent game), keeps chopping and changing, plays people out of position and people scratch their heads at some of his team selections and tactics BUT he thinks eventually, with a bit more experience, could end up a decent manager.
During the conversation the thought crossed my mind that he was actually talking about Fevs, the comparison sounded so uncanny.
