Bit of a chicken and egg situation but should a manager be appointed first or should a DoF ?
In my opinion it should be a DoF so that he has some input into the choice of manager.
( That’s assuming we’ll have a DoF instead of Bromby going forward )

might be a bit old fashioned but i,d go the other way around. the manager is the day to day tactician along with his coaching staff to get the best out of the players available with plans to beat the opposition. always thought that d o f was some sort of fancy name for a chief scout with added duties when signing players to give the manager a break from discussions with agents which might not be his thing. one job is a tracksuit one whilst the other a behind the scene shirt and tie one. just cannot take to the suits running the show enfortunetly.

The only time that has worked at Pools, was under IOR- with Tubby Turner - though he was Director of Sport -
so ALSO responsible for Table Football, Bar Billiards, Darts (Yorkshire board- no trebles), Shove Ha'penny, Tiddlywinks, Skittles & Dominos, (our very own Fred Truman) when Danny Wilson was Manager.

Who was Shanklys, Busbys, Clough etc s DoF ? Another modern day unnecessary appointment, why would a NL team want one ?

Why is a DoF needed…
You have a manager..end of story.
This the trouble with the bloody game…too many opinions having an input.

Or other alternatives.
Robot or Puppet were Bromby pull the strings.
The back end of the season trial run with Fevs didn't work.

To many cooks spoil the broth.
