An unexpected home win sets up Pools for their final home game of the season, against Southend, shame this was not a showdown for the last play off place!

Well another unexpected win, this time over Southend, puts Pools on more or less the same as the predicted home points, an actual total of 37 compared to a predicted tally of 37.51.

So despite what we would consider a poor home record, Pools managed to gain 2 good victories against teams in the play off spots and ended up with a home record that was expected.

As for away, well Pools have exceeded what was predicted, currently on 31 points against a total expected of 26.97 with one more away game to play, away to Boston.

With Pools on a total of 68 points with 1 game left, they have more or less fallen in line with what was predicted right at the start of the season, to finish around the 70 point area - just outside the play off places.

Our finishing position will either be 8th or 9th. But the gap to the last play off place is bigger than normal, currently 10 points so next season Pools will have to substantially improve!

With investment due and our new owner putting his plans into place, surely the fans can remain hopeful that next season Pools will be challenging at the top!
