a lot will depend on how the team plays against the vegans. more than you predicted if the play well and win but less if we see the usual dire and dour home performance with a defeat. be nice to clap NF and some of the players off for the last time

It’s a lame duck game with little to luck back on.
A closure of a laboured season where someone was allowed to practice football tactics to destruction without achieving anything and took is nowhere.
We’ll end the season with a whimper … regardless of what happens on the night.

daft thing is we might end up in our highest position since relegation only to feel the club has gone backwards big time on the pitch. at least there will be not hundreds of posts about the club not splashing out to keep manni D or any other striker on the books. at least that showed the interest was still alive. can see it being very quiet after the boston game to when we get an annoucement.

Hartlepool United, if it were any other business, would see widespread changes from the top to the bottom.

Need to avoid defeat, just for MY sake- the Missus and Outlaws are all shrimpers - they are smug enough as it is, with an impending trip to Wembley in the FAT and now a playoff place into the bargain. I couldn't bare the thought of another shoeing at home- not to them.

Though recent games against them have mainly been draws with wins favouring the home team.
Come on Pools, do it for KP's sanity- you owe me a performance after I witnessed first hand, the surrender at Boring Wood, last Saturday!

Looking forward to Tuesday evening after today's result. But as you lot gave Mr Savage and the Veggies a seeing to, I don't expect an easy game.

A…..That strange team who turns up for us and puts a show on…or

B….. The team whose mind suddenly goes blank as they waltz around the pitch indifferently…or

C…..The group playing defensively as ‘ instructed,’ by the ‘Great Tactician’ on the bench..it never turns out well.

A bore draw would be a good result for Pools against the form team going into the playoffs.

Pools have made hard work of most home games this season but FGR made it easy for us. There was no intensity about their play at all.

I'm looking forward to Tuesday's game too - but not if your lot are in the same mood they were yesterday.

know southend are not wealdstone but didn,t they get beaten heavily after that 7 nil game. we have had close games at the vic against southend before and cannot see a result at halifax making a difference to tuesday night.

As Snowy said above, it depends which manifestation of Pools turns up on the night. Could easily go seriously tits up or be another 0-0. I cannot imagine Pools beating an in form, free scoring Southend.

imagine though that we did and hammer them and boston by 2 clear goals. it could be looked at as a good two fingers up from fevs to brondby and co which i feel he,d love to do as his parting shot.

But if he'd gone hammer and tongs since his permanent appointment in all likelihood the job for next season would have been his. IMO his ultra cautious approach has meant he failed his audition.
Thankfully, Bromby & Co are applying business sense rather than sentiment, hopefully we'll benefit from the next managerial appointment.

Had Wealdstone beaten Scunthorpe yesterday, we would have had a realistic chance of nicking 5th place (and a play-off home tie) off them. As it is, it will probably be 6th place. So we probably won't be as intense for this game.

Are many Southend fans likely to attend Tuesdays game?

Hard to say. There's been a lot of travelling over the last few games, and another 560 miles round trip might deter some. We took nearly 600 to Halifax, so some may have stayed over. I reckon around 300. And there's also the probability of away games at York/Rochdale/Carlisle/Scunthorpe before too much longer

They rarely bring more than 150 to Pools so probably be about that given it's a Tuesday night

That’ll be their fear of the tundra once the cross the Arctic Circle, that and the Polar Bears.

Surely Southend will want to win and finish above FG and Scunny as they'd rather play Scunny at home than BW away?

even if they could not go any higher i,m sure they would like the present momentum they have to go into the play offs. could end up being this seasons oldham and end up spoiling york or rochdale,s season. lets say i,ll shed no tears if that did happen.

We need Scunny to drop a point and us to win all of our remaining games to finish 5th. Had they lost last Saturday it would have been easier. I don't much care who we meet in the play-offs, we'll be up for it.

I would much sooner play Scunny than Borehamwood

Momentum is everything going into the play-offs. The team that finished 2nd has only got promoted once in the last 4 seasons (Notts County in 22-23). The year before that Grimsby finished 7th and went up! Can't see FGR doing that at all.

I think Southend will come at us with all guns blazing tonight. It'll be interesting to see how Nick Hayes does playing against his old team. Hope he has one of his best nights since he joined us for everyone's sake.

Men against boys . Southend 6 changes . Every man comfortable on the ball . Quick passing , quality everywhere, high press. . Against the run of play great equaliser though and pools eventually starting to play better , particularly in the final third

Didn’t see Reid’s second goal as was half an hour behind the live commentary on DAZN . Was it a good goal?

Credit to Pools after a Southend first half masterclass in attacking play . Thought Reid and Sinclair top class upfront. Bed lads

It's odds on he was taken off as a precaution. He's not long back from another injury that took him ages to get over and this was his second game in 4 days.

That said, Walker should be nowhere near the bench in any circumstances. Waste of an entire season's wages.

Strange game. Starts with the farce of Southend's first minute goal - was it even over the line and what in feck's name was Hayes doing? After that Pools were so useless for 30 minutes that there wasn't a peep out of the North West Corner.

Then bang, Sinclair gets the equaliser and Pools suddenly remember that they can play football. Early part of the second half was excellent - Pools were set up to catch Southend on the break as they were bound to come out pressing for a second goal. 4-1 was nosebleed territory - while it lasted

Sway was excellent when he came on - we should have seen more of him in other games.

We really, really need a couple of leaders on the pitch for next season. Don't care where they play, just be prepared to boss the team and boss games. Southend had them tonight.

The last substitutions was the reason we ended up 4-3 as things fell apart a bit.

A ‘master class’ that produced little in the way of goals for most of the game till the pointless substitutions…….a fan of theirs bemoaned their habit of getting into the box and failing to produce the goods…fans don’t change and everyone is critical of their own teams , it goes with the ‘job’.
