York two points ahead of Rochdale
Both have a relatively easy game left before the biggie.
Last game is Rochdale v York for winner takes all.

Going to be some atmosphere that game.

Be particularly galling though to lose promotion at home on the last day for York if it happened.
Let’s see who blinks first.

Bollocks  , I’ve had the whole screen play based around it  ….so I’ll change the script….be a rather tense affair if it’s a High Noon style showdown.

Yorks title and we'll done to them.
Quick Ownership followed by quick success.

A great example of Ambition.

Probably get a few hcs saying they bought promotion.

I don’t care who wins as they’re both league clubs on my eyes and no dislike of either of them.
But ..,those M25 wannabe’s get right on my… :angry-screaming:

same with me but they are not all M25 wannabe,s. the league still has harrogate, salford and the team that started all this bankrolling fleetwood. hopefully we,ll see how the crowds drop at betty,s if they join us next season a couple of levels higher than they should be.

Those clubs couldn’t survive on gate money.
Looking at the ‘crowd’ at Boreham Stiff yesterday, they weren’t exactly bulging at the seams, but we seem to have few hobby clubs with a budget and negligible crowds taking over.

So it’s mercenaries that win you promotion….?

I reckon team spirit is important.

I want York to go up. Want rid of them. If both win their second last game, York only need a point to go up due to vastly superior goal diffrence. Rochdale been a struggling a little over the last few games (fancy not beating us?) so it would be a real turn up for the books if they were to beat York on the last day. I accept stranger things have happened but I would bet my house on York if I wasa betting man. I wonder what Stocksfield Poolie has to say on this subject, I know he likes a flutter.

I tipped and backed York to win the title at the start of the season.

"Champions: York City

Play Off Places (in no order): Pools, Southend, Forest Green Rovers, Rochdale, Carlisle, Scunthorpe"

Only Pools have let me down!

Scunny could blow that theory right out the window.
2 promotions in a row maybe.

Forgive my ignorance about betting etc but even if York are Champions do you lose out because Pools didnt make the play offs: all your predictions had to be spot on or do you still get something for being nearly right? A bit like an each way bet on horse racing? I reckon very few would have predicted the meteroic rise of Boreham Wood.

Boreham Wood not a bad shout either..the play offs are a massive lottery.

Only had the bet on York to win the title, 4/1. Currently 2/5.

My post above was repeating what I said on the thread on the 25/26 season, at the top of this forum where people replied who they would think would finish in the play offs etc.

I was at Boring Wood yesterday and their home crowd is embarrassing - probably worse than the Heed's but with less atmosphere! I didn't hear the attendance but can't have been more than 2k there. That said, they don't need a big crowd or any crowd to support them as one of their stewards said that they receive £1 million quid a season from Arsenal for allowing their Chicks team to use their stadium as their home ground. The Arse also maintain the playing surface which was excellent too. So maybe we shouldn't be too surprised by how well they've done.

Pools were absolutely woeful- really was men against boys and highlighted the need to scatter most of them in the summer.

they will never get big crowds like wealdstone won,t. too many other clubs close to them trying to attract only a certain number of football fans. seems a pity but these clubs always find someway to get the dosh in unlike pools.

I think that generally speaking, more people with serious dosh live in the South East than in the North East, hence the rise of previously unknown clubs with tiny average home gates. We allknow that the likes of Shields, Spenny, Gateshead etc are never going to emulate the likes of Wealdstone, Bromley,Sutton etc.

Just saying the name makes me chuckle.

Some proper wealth in that neck of the woods.

its 10% in the EFL with the majority under cover unless the home team are going ground work which lowers the attendance. At our level it will be on the back of an envelope somewhere. Do not think there is a maximum especially when accrington improve there ground for away fan numbers.

Next week, winner takes all.

If it’s a draw York go up so it’s a big game.

Mani D and Joe Grey both scored in today's fixtures.

If they both end up promoted I wonder if either of those 2 players will be deemed good enough for div 2?
Mani is 31 and has only really been prolific in the last 3 seasons, and only at this level.
Joe isn't exactly pulling up trees, featuring mainly as a sub for most of the second half of the season.
It should be a cracking finale to the season though with 2 free scoring sides going up against each other, can't see it being goalless.
