Trump has been led into this by evil, the Iranian regime is dangerous and evil, but the main instigator seems to be Netanyahu who imo is as evil. I'm pretty sure Trump thought if the top men were taken out he could get a quick regime change with the Iranian people rising up. He brought about regime change in Venezuela very easily and was probably emboldened as a result.
The problem is he doesn't have a plan B, or an exit strategy. I don't see him trying to carry out his threat, it just can't be done imo, wiping out a nation as he's threatening is a thing for board games and gamers only. They couldn't achieve much in Afghanistan and this would be equally bad for the USA given that they have zero international support nor the support of the American people.
There'll be an agreement for a cease fire made where both sides will claim victory and save face. The Iranians will learn far more from this than the USA and the rest of the world. Trump will withdraw from NATO unless significant and urgent changes are made by the other countries to reduce reliance on the US.
