Watched Halifax v Scunny, the winger who signed for Scunny instead of us, and who can blame him for that? looked very decent, scored the first goal and was a real handful for the Halifax defence. Looks to be forming a good partnership with Callum Roberts already. Can only see a heavy defeat, which Featherstone probably wouldn't see coming of course, 3-0 to the Iron.

another game on another day. i actually would rather play wealdstone today than pools as i have always hated playing teams who were hammered the match before. the high scorers never seem to repeat the feat 2 games on the bounce. could be a win today we never saw coming.

It would be very Pools to follow a stinker with a much better performance, not just this season but going back decades. Narrow(ish) Scunny win is the most likely result.

It'll be interesting to see what the starting 11 is. One argument is give them all another chance and start the same team that took the field on Tuesday night. Problem with that is Hayes was feckin' woeful and we didn't have a single leader on the pitch.

If McNally is even close to fitness and Tom Parkes is over his latest concussion protocol they should both start. And if Adam Smith is up for playing I'd stick him in. Doubt our powder puff midfield will be left as is either.

He might not see it coming, but he’ll feel the feckin impact…air bags all round.

I think the 7-0 defeat was the kiss of death to his so called defensive action plan.

As Snowy says, it would be typical of Pools to pull off a surprise win but realistically, a 3 or 4 goal defeat is the more likely.

Even when Pools guaranteed promotion in 02/03, we did it by getting beat 4-0 at Scunthorpe!

Normally I would have gone today, as it is one of the closer ones to me but I can't be arsed. I haven't decided whether to bother watching it on the box.
As for predicting the result who knows and, at this point in time, who cares.
I'm more interested in when Landon is going to give us an insight into what we can expect apart from giant bunsen burners on match days. When I know and if I'm happy with it my interest may be rekindled but until then my interest is lukewarm.

4-1 Scunny, a genuine promotion chasing outfit. After the Wealdstone capitulation nothing really matters, anyone can see that this season was purely a half-hearted attempt at escaping from this wretched league. Neither the recruitment team, playing squad nor team management have proved to be man enough for even achieving the realistic task of reaching the play-offs. May as well switch off the lights now and commence the rebuild in earnest - the sooner the better.

Agree, I was thinking of going on Monday prior to that embarrassment, not a snowballs chance in hell of me going now.

I think we'll play a lot better than Tuesday, I'm going for a 5-0 defeat.

Maintaining respectively obviously wasn't a factor on Tuesday night so why should it be a factor this afternoon? They may as well turn up in their flip-flops.

I was going with a couple of non poolies today for the day out, it's the closest game of the season for me and is usually a good atmosphere (even the Mike Newell out game) , but when the players threw in the towel for the season on Tuesday and in the manner they did, I cancelled. Might watch on DAZN, though equally I might not see it (coming)

Back to 1 man upfront and everyone bar Oliver behind the ball . FFS we’re not playing Arsenal . The most boring tactician and manager I have ever seen . Dull like his personality

I am just over the moon we have gone 30 minutes without conceding. Only an hour or so to go. Fear is that once the first goal goes in the floodgates will open.

The worst 45 minutes of football from a pools team I have seen in my life . No shots at goal and every man behind the ball. Wow Feaths really respects the mighty Scunny . Even the commentator is bemused by our tactics . Scunny need a point for the playoffs Pools need to win. So is his tactics keep a clean sheet for 70 mins then bring on Sinclair , Caton abd Reid. Anyone enjoying this ?

I take no pleasure in predicting that . I’m sure Feathers will be over the moon with how that went but for me he again bored the pants of me. I feel sorry for travelling supporters to pay good money to watch that shi??e . Yes if it was a cup tie and we were playing Arsenal fair enough but Scunthorpe . No disrespect to them but 10 men behind the ball . If Featgers still in charge next year I will cancel my subscription . It’s like pulling teeth watching this sort of football

Reid had a chance to win it at the death but hit the bar from close range.

Otherwise - Pools did to Scunny what plenty of other teams have done to us at the Vic. Tom Parkes coming back into the side made the difference - him and Kouogun were outstanding.

Southend won again so the only thing at stake was Pools not embarrassing themselves again.

A 0-0 bore draw with 5 games to play. You’re obviously easily pleased if you think that was the right tactics . 7 points behind Carlisle now who have a game in hand .

Last time I looked we were 24 points behind Carlisle

But you're comment was about our away fans. Cast your memory back (if you can) to what it's like to be in a rival's ground. The Poolies will have had a load of mockery from the Scunny fans before kick-off. They'd have got a ton more if Scunny took us to the cleaners. But they couldn't even score once!. Granted shutting them out isn't as satisfying as an away win, but it'll do!

Awful to watch apart from when we made the subs. Man of the match and player of the season for me Max Kouogun.

Well Fevs thinks that result was as good as a win.
Then said I think we got 4 or 5 games left.

What a crank.

Looks like he's still here next season with a shit budget.

Current wisdom suggests that football is part of the entertainment industry but Fevs clearly does not subscribe to that! The paying customers are entitled to more than the last 20 minutes of a 90 minute game.
Note that part time Wealdstone lost 5-1 today after beating Pools 7-0.

Spot on….when I saw the team I hoped it was gonna be a change of tactics with the subs and we nearly did pull it off…in fact closer the Scunthorpe, who really didn’t impress me.
I saw fight for a change…but why not start with your finishing team …because there defence wasn’t as good as they think it is, going by that match.

If you watch that game and think anything decent of it, you’re as bad as the bad smell mentality that has followed Pools for the last 5 years. Remember what DC said every game … ‘we’ll go there with a team and set up to win the match.’ NO MATTER WHO WE PLAYED.

Turning up at play off rivals and parking the bus and getting 1 shot in the 93rd minute. ONLY Pools. This is a shambles. ‘I saw fight for a change’ - you saw mediocrity in full practice as our team turned up to stifle and impose absolutely nowt on the game. It’s been shit for months, it’s still shit and today was shit. I see Loughlin is on Twitter praising our efforts and this absolutely basic manager and squad. The irony is not lost on me. Standards are required and we have only had them when Dave Challinor was in the building.

I am going to say it, Landon could well be a con artist based on the side that is currently representing the club after a transfer window of activity.

Him and Feaths are going to bleed the life out of this club unless serious changes are made in the summer.

Today is embarrassing. Utterly embarrassing approach to a game. Harsh but facts.

Always the little ray of sunshine, aren't you? In fact, you never seem to post on the admittedly rare occasions when Pools enjoy a good win. Wonder why that is?

Thanks for the uplifting commentary. I'm off to slash my wrists :violin:

Today was dire, yes better than Tuesday but anything would be. I'm amazed the "it's as good as win" comment - that's deluded. We defended the whole game (defended well to be fair, Parkes was superb). But we didn't get out of our half until the subs in the second half - which was Feths tactics early in- defend for 60 mins, hope it is 0-0 then bring on the attackers and nick a win. If that is what next season will be then god help us, he has to go. I like Feths but this way of playing is horrible to watch, and hoping to be 0-0 after an hour against semi decent sides will not pay off

Those tactics today will NOT get us out of this league, And this is a really poor league this year apart from maybe 2-3 teams. That is the bottom line.

Ask yourself since NF took the reins how many games has he set us up not to lose.

I’ve just watched the post match interview with Fevs who stated that he picked that team to instil a bit of confidence after that huge defeat and hoped with the substitutions he could nick a win. Of course he nearly achieved that . When asked about the lack of attacking intent he said he was disappointed. Look, for the the odd stupid person on here you cannot win games on a continual basis with 9 or 10 men behind the ball. Winning the ball in defence and hoofing it forward in the hope that a loan striker can somehow win the ball, beat 3 or 4 defenders and slot the ball pass the keeper is impossible. Yes if we had Messi maybe. As regards the performance nobody is saying the team and particularly the defence didn’t produce a brilliant display. If yesterday’s game was a few months back it would have been a well earned draw but we had to win. Feathers has already said in a past interview that he didn’t think that the squad was good enough to play 2 strikers . Of course that was before Caton arrived and Oliver was injured . I personally think that we look ok with Caton and Reid and of course Sinclair is one of the players of the season. We didn’t lose the match against Wealdstone because of the strikers per se. We lost it because the midfield dropped back in front of the defence and the defence and goaly had an off day. So the fault was mainly in the midfield who left pockets all over the pitch. Watch the match . So what is Featherstone going to do against Rochdale play in the same way as yesterday and pray for a breakaway goal or play with our best strikers and best winger . So lads vote now how do you want us to line up against Rochdale?

I forgot to mention that even their commentator mentioned that our defending was commendable but our strategy had no balance because of lack of attacking intent .

‘As good as a win’ that apparently for our crab like leader . Deepest a team has played at Scunthorpe statistically ALL season. 1 corner and 1 shot in stoppage time.

But a ray of sunshine. It’s just Pools isn’t it. Ah well, we love being shit don’t we.

Sorry, Judgment time for LS. No better than Raj so far….harsh but facts. Unless you like fireworks, American coloured tracksuits and flamethrowers, it’s a bit naff isn’t it. Speaks well, very good on paper… All lip, no suck so far.

….Just football. Hopefully Suns out tomorrow at least?

I think it’s a bit early to be slagging the owner of yet as we don’t know his full intentions till next season . I think it’s just damage limitation until the end of this season, which means finishing more or less where we are irrelevant of the performance . No what you are saying though .

Dave Challinor was a god. Never forgotten. Tough and tender and tactfully astute and positive . Most of the teams he has managed have played well . Should have got the Boro job but they seem to be doing ok. Not checked their result against Millwall as was out early Friday night.

Him and Feaths are going to bleed the life out of this club unless serious changes are made in the summer.

Today is embarrassing. Utterly embarrassing approach to a game. Harsh but facts.

Agree Challinor was a legend . Keep up your good posts I enjoy reading your astute comments .

Well Fevs thinks that result was as good as a win.
Then said I think we got 4 or 5 games left.

What a crank.

Looks like he's still here next season with a shit budget.

Points win prizes, not performances…we needed points.
