The headquarters of Ed Milliband's department for Energy Security and Net Zero is powered by fossil fuels, despite the ministry promoting renewable energy.
Freedom of Information requests to more than 400 public sector bodies have revealed that several government departments and agencies, including the Home Office and the Ministry For Justice are shunning green energy in favour of cheaper brown tariffs.
One government agency sponsored by Milliband's department said it had not gone green because it considered renewable tariffs offered poor value for money.
Freedon of Information requests revealed that more than four fifths of electricity used by Whitehall comes from standard grid mix, which is known as brown power because a significant proportion of it is generated by burning fossil fuels.

What about that, fellow bunkerites.

He's the definition of an Eco-crank, nobody wants to go back to coal fired houses everywhere, and we do seek a more measured progress towards cleaner fuels but these are the people who probably have several wood burning stoves in their million pound gaffs, as I've said on here before coal produces less CO2 than wood on burning and if the earth was completely devoid of humans there would still be huge forest fires, active volcanoes and lightning naturally producing CO2 emissions anyway. Of course there wouldn't be anybody there to try and put these huge forest fires out as there is now.

Millibean is like the kid at school who thinks he knows better than the teachers and will have a tantrum if he can’t have his own way…and Starmer plays the part of the weak, flacid, incompetent teacher who just can’t control his pupils.

He acknowledges we'll need oil and gas for decades as we transition to clean energy but fails to appreciate that if we exploited our own oil and gas we'd be less reliant on others, for example the effect of the closure of the Straits of Hormuz would be reduced. It might not affect world prices but it would increase production in the West.
It would also reduce the emissions from transporting oil and gas. It would also provide more UK jobs in those industries and the supporting industries which would bring in more tax. (Look at Norway as an example, leaders in environmental issues but also a huge oil and gas producer).

Billions spent by the oil and gas companies after being given the go-ahead to develop the Jackdaw and Rose bank Areas, all for nothing after the rules were changed by this present group of incompetents. Only in Britain.

It’s a triumph of dogma over stark realism.

What does annoy me is the infrastructure for these projects is being built in Norway and Dubai, none of it in the U.K., the total investment is around 1 billion, chicken feed for oil and gas companies.

More than £1bn spent to date on Jackdaw gas field and over £2bn spent on Rosebank - money down the drain and a wasted huge carbon footprint, all flushed down the pan by Mad Ed.
How the feck to you attract investment when these neanderthals are in charge?

We are being taken up a creek by Millibean and his crusade of the deluded, who puts political dogma above practicalities of everyday life for most people.
Absolute clown.

usually you know a few in favour of policies most ate against. problem is with net zero most of us do not live side by side with its supporters as they seem the upper mddle class of the country. know of someone who would be a pal of jamie on other subjects but hates net zero with a passion.

Maybe a bit of topic, new rules coming in about recycling, the one I am confused about is a separate container for food waste, who throws food out ?
I remember years ago when the council first introduced recycling, you had a blue box, a large sack thing and was there a carrier bag ? Cost a fortune for them, where are they now ?

Feck me, you can’t eat everything, there’s always food waste…it’s every thing from plate leftovers to tea bags, egg shells and the food you never got round to eating…… and actually it works quite well as it’s collected weekly and bagged in degradable bags.
Good idea.

It could well be that a lot of these buildings are listed so not allowed to put solar panels up. I had three inspectors round when I wanted to change my windows in York.

We thought that it would be a waste of time, thinking that we don't throw much food out, but we fill at least 2 of the bags every week now

until they want you to sort out uncooked and cooked food and things you actually eat to peelings and egg shells. its the council so they will make it as complicated as possible.
