I asked my Yorkie mate why he always referred to people from Lancashire as Long Necks-
his reply 'Cause they're always looking over the top of the Pennines to see what we're doing!

I laughed and said 'You can always tell a Yorkshireman......

this has been mentioned for pools in the past. if we do have difficulty bringing players up here then we must go to them. always think of south yorkshire when this comes up and i,m sure derwent will know somewhere we could do this. its not as if we train in the town now is it and if we did there is no real necessity to do so.

Recent seasons have shown that Pools don't have any trouble at all bringing players from all over the country to Pools. The real issue is, how many feel settled once they get here?

The game against Sutton the other week was a case in point. Topalloj, Pruti and Francis all wanted a move back down South. We do better with other Northerners - including the ones who commute from home to play their football at the Vic.

problem with that is you reduce the pool of players you are trying to recruit. if halifax restricted signings within say a 60 mile radius of the shay it covers a hell of more clubs than it does for us at all levels of the game. the NE is not the hot bed of football anymore.
