We are told by Millibean and other Labour commentators that we need our power supply to be protected from market swings in energy prices and if we follow his plan we’ll have energy security.

But seeing as how we get most of our solar panels and wind turbines from China, we are at China’s mercy…. What security is that…especially with Kill Switches.
Might have made a sort of sense if we built our own…provided jobs and other benefits….but fools rush in….and Millibean has

There's loads more to this as well.

So we do all sorts of stuff and make all sorts of sacrifices, yet a huge portion of the world will do nothing, so our efforts will be for virtually nothing except Millibonkers to pat himself on the back.

And as for lower prices, really?? It's not happening and it probably never will.

Snowy, have you read this thing about multi-storey car parks? Apparently electric cars are a lot heavier meaning, if you fill them up with electric cars they will not be able to withstand the extra weight!

KABOOM.

Similar bridges, if there was a tail back of electric cars on a bridge and what about road surfaces, electric cars are 30% heavier than petrol cars.

Our Jamie will provide the answer to that problem with his expertise in buildings structure. Either that or he'll blame Farage, whilst quoting verbal shitery from his fictional library of fictional colouring in books noticeable by their virgin condition due to the absence of suitable crayoning power.
After that will follow a dialogue of further nonsense prompted by his usual tirade of how jealous we all are of his shorts and tee shirt lifestyle (in real terms his string vest and undercrackers).

Aye, it’s gonna have reverberations all round….next they’ll be getting rid of older cars and putting limitations on who can drive …it’s like going backwards in time.

The earth's climate has always gone through periods of warming and cooling and I don't think anyone can argue that many made air pollution around the world was a lot worse back in the latter half of last century. Yet it's only lately after we've done a hell of a lot towards reducing emissions already that it's become an emergency, and daftest of all are these modern day King Canutes who think we can master nature. It's all a tax raising, money making scam.

What a load of bollocks this is. Sometimes I despair at the cavemen attitudes on here 'citizens against virtually everything'.

Noticed that lovely field full of new solar panels at Sheraton west side of the A19 today, all the servicing and maintenance will no doubt be getting done by firms from nowhere round here for the benefit of wealthy shareholders making sure most of the profit if any goes their way, probably produces enough power to heat three back bedrooms in Chelmsford every other Thursday.

You think it’s wise to buy solar panels and wind turbines from China instead of making them ourselves….I don’t…….have you the Chinese concession by any chance?
You’re very lucky they still haven’t made naivety a crime.

Drove past Thorpe Thewles yesterday afternoon and there’s an ugly swathe of them south of the village.
The further south you go the less you see.

Agreed, if you venture north or west out of the town you'll quickly be surrounded by the ugly desecration of the surrounding landscape by these hideous silent occupiers where there were once green or ploughed working fields.

Of course the renewable energy shareholders and doubtless greedy farmers alike will be rubbing their grubby hands together at the unrestrained installation of these monstrosities at the behest of the increasingly comical and dismissive Millibore.

Its ironic that power generation from such farms within this area thus far this year will be have been minimal given the continuous days of unceasing rain and hardly any proper daylight let alone sunshine to speak of. But hey, just wait until summertime when the sky is blue and the sun shines - at least until the good old north easterly wind blows in the sea fog that is.

I assume you're old enough to remember the pits and the slag tips and that surrounded thevtown? Plenty of good jobs but it was all about survival. The monstrosities as you call them are like cathedrals compared to what went before.

Yeah I remember the working pits and slag heaps that were an unavoidable outcome of the mining process. However they represented full time employment for hundreds of men who gladly worked in the industry despite the appalling conditions in otder to feed themselves and their families. Suggest that you take trip up the Durham coast, stop off at the former pit villages and ask some of the old timers if they would have preferred working pits, slag heaps etc or the ugly solar farms that provide little employment save for a few maintenance teams.

Anyway you are totally missing the actual point ie there never were any pits anywhere near the A179 westbound to the A19 nor southbound to Teesside or north as far as Hawthorn (that's Dalton Park to you I guess) for that matter This area was always farmland that is now being fast covered up by the aforementioned monstrosities that only benefit the shareholders of renewable energy parasites, not the local populace.

Apologies Derwent I wasn’t involved in road or bridge building in my career so I can’t comment about the specifications required, try YouTube Derwent you might find the answers there. I also had a look in my colouring books as well nothing about road or bridge construction in my collection albeit they are all fiction so the info contained in them might not be correct.I really don’t have time, life is too short, talking about shorts, time for a stroll out in the sunshine, where is my t shirt and flip flops, oh need to put some sunscreen on as well, nearly forgot and my baseball cap worn the obligatory back to front. I can’t be getting my old knapper burnt, the sun might fry my brain although some might say it’s burned already.

Successive governments decided bizarrely that our island nation should cease pretty much all heavy industry and manufacturing.
Hard to believe that car-making, mining, ship-building, petro-chemicals, etc couldn't be sustained allegedly due to EU rules and high wages, union power, etc when Germany still thrives in those industries despite even higher wages, stronger unions, etc?

Well Blair wanted 50% to go to Uni and earn a living staring at screens….the other 50% would be the lower orders under the new class system.
AI torpedoed that idea so they’ll probably demand a Degree for litter picking eventually…..heavy industry was an embarrassment to them in their brave new world.

the clean air acts of the 50,s made a hell of a lot of difference to air quality especially in the big cities. petrol and diesel cars emissions have been reduced dramatically over the last 60 years. how far really do they need to go for health issues against the cost of living. one thing is we are all going to snuff it even ed and the greenies. lets say the present situation might knock 5 years off your life, is it worth the extra years if you live a lifetime living in fear of putting the lights and heating on because you cannot afford it. plus do not eat this but eat that because its better for the environment. no wonder the country is riddled with a mental health epidemic where you only hear one side of an argument and those who think the opposite are silenced.

Some good news earlier this week that Vauxhall is to recommence manufacturer of diesel cars as sales of the ugly electric critters are continuing to fall despite the media hype and the endless - and increasingly inane - TV adverts for vehicles that few actually want to own - and even fewer can actually afford.

Whilst Starmer and his barmy army are quite rightly terrified of Reform, they are seemingly increasingly worried about Zany Zach and his brainwashed Green disciples who are threatening to steal the votes of the new child voters (15-16 year old).

We should be building these ourselves but manufacturing in this country has been decimated for years. I've worked in industry all my life and sadly British investors are less interested that foreign ones. We live in a service dominated country that buys it's goods and services from overseas.

But that’s what I’m saying, invest in our own products, get it up and running,….delay the project till we can produce our own equipment…..of all governments, I’d have expected Labour to invest in such an industry ….but they’re like the Tory’s…allergic to heavy industry and opting for the cheap option.

The U.K. can’t compete with foreign competitors from China, India and Asia due to the low wages paid there. We used to have 4/5 fabrication yards for oil and gas projects but they have all gone and any new projects are constructed in other parts of world. The proposed 12 Advanced Modular Reactors in Hartlepool will be built in a modular system in a factory but where, in the U.K. ?

Other countries can do it in Europe so pay the price instead of opting for the cheap option..
We’ve got new Chinese buses riding into the town from Stockton …Christ on a bike, if we’re importing something as basic as buses from China how low have we sunk.
Blair’s rush to get everyone into Uni so we can have everyone doing comfy jobs, keeping their hands clean and looking down on those in manufacturing as old fashioned got us in this mess.

That and strict adherence to EU rules forbidding subsidies and support for most industries. Meanwhile Germany manages to continue their traditional industries even though they have even higher wages than the UK.
It's absolutely crazy that as an island nation successive governments have allowed our manufacturing industries to go down the pan. As is allowing our key infrastructure to fall into foreign hands.
Try getting a plumber, electrician, or any tradesman to do a job and you're waiting ages because apprenticeships and training programmes have been pared right back for many reasons but most of them being costs to employers. Who does Starmer and Rayner think is going to build all these new houses that they promised but will fail to achieve?

You can't turn this news round in 18 months and it was Thatcher and her Londonomics that screwed manufacturing. There's a reason why the South East is one of the richest areas in Europ e.

she might have done it but many industries were on their knees before her. lack of modernisation with anciant machinery being used and poorer quality of goods being produced than in the past. the motorbike industry was almost gone and car manufacturing become a joke of poor designs, poorer management and a poorly led workforce by the unions. all she did was close industries much quicker before they had a slower death.

The street I grew up in in the collieries is unrecognisable from when I was a nipper, virtually every property had a working wage or two coming in and they were all well kept and clean, now it's like a ghetto, half of the gates on the backyards are either missing or hanging off their hinges, there's litter strewn everywhere, rubble, fly-tipping, some walls are down/demolished, tenants who are there for sometimes as little as a week, a halfway house for people just released from prison, young people who don't give a damn or are just bone idle, don't cut their grass, leave their bins overflowing, I could go on but like them I can't be bothered, it's depressing, but hey at least we've got fields full of solar panels but no jobs.

Aye, but they provided lots of worthwhile paid jobs and their loss devastated communities from which they haven’t recovered….all we get with this is a monstrous legion of metallic panels glinting in the sun installed by a handful of outside contractors from out side the area and no jobs of any worth.

Do the ugly little solar panels have any scrap value? Just a thought

We’ll soon find out, when the Raggy lads work it out, the police will be called to find a field full of solar panels up on bricks…and what’s left of the cable arcing in a pitiful manner….well what’s left of it.

Actually I don't mind the panels installed on roofs, at least they aren't in yer face and they benefit the home or business owners financially unlike their stunted counterparts blighting the landscape and purely benefitting greedy farmers and energy company shareholders.

There’s a place for them obviously, but as part of the system and not the core of the system with wind turbines…we have a government deludedly trying to set an example to the world…and the world doesn’t give a toss.

its a few residents that make places into ghetto,s and not the closing of the pits or social conditions. lack of pride in everything now from the areas to the clothes they wear.
