I've never known it as grim, damp and rainy for such a long time without a break since I was a nipper, went to put the bin out earlier tonight for collection in the morning and nearly slipped over on the grass as it just turned to mud under my feet as it's so sodden. No doubt there'll still be a hosepipe ban in August though.

Worst of all is letting the dogs out in the garden and catching the buggers before they get past you to leave a trail of paw prints when they come in…normally starting jobs out the back now but it just rains and I’m desperate to try out my new chainsaw

Its so depressing and i just cant be arsed to do anything. I had a chainsaw delivered the other week and its still in the box.
The amount of people with cold/flu etc must be linked to it.

since the new year we have had 50 shades of grey. pissed off with drying dogs off 3 times a day. best weather i saw since the new year was for the aldershot game a couple of weeks ago where i thought about buying a sun blocker. not to worry once through ripon on the way home normal service resumed.

I hate when people say they are depressed, my Mother suffered from depression no matter what the weather was like, she never went out the house for the last 5 years of life through depression, it’s a serious mental ailment. I know a few people who have took their own lives because of depression.

true, but i bet its something small that triggers it off in the first place and then gets out of hand and find it difficult to control in the end.

I agree, I also think it's a number of setbacks happening in a short space of time which can test a person's resolve, for instance last week we had a couple of funerals to attend (one staying over down South), my eldest son bumped my car I'd lent him, my mother fell at home and is currently in hospital recovering, my central heating boiler broke down and when I went to use my electric shower the cord snapped and when I took the cover off to mend it it was a sealed unit, took it apart and all of the contacts and springs flew all over so struggled to put it back together, all in the space of 48 hours, just had to laugh it off in the end as not worth letting it get you down.

have always thought that when life is really shit and you are down there is better a chance of good times returning than when things are just average. its only the really lucky folk who say you make your own luck.

It is difficult to control, I went through a period of anxiety and depression, straight away the GP gave me some ‘happy pills’ which did nought but had a warning on the box if you feel suicidal go to A&E. The other concerning thing was don’t stop taking them, wean your self off them, I stopped them and started to focus on a daily routine getting out and about and I pulled round after about a year or so. Unfortunately not everyone can do that, I went to a councillor who tried hypnosis but a waste of money, she couldn’t put me under, £30 down the drain, that was 20 years ago though.

I am hoping for a Carol Kirkwood warm front soon.

thats the answer, getting dressed for the weather. you do not have to pay fortune to keep dry and warm especially if you raid the second hand shops like i do. the only problem is the constant rain where you run out of stuff and have to dry something off.

I worked outdoors all my life I got no pleasure in it, it paid the bills, no way in retirement am I going to be braving the elements for a leisurely stroll no matter what clothing is available, my current attire is T Shirts and Shorts.

its a hell of a difference though where you are to the rest of us. agree about going out for a stroll without a reason but two really furry animals who suit the cold need there exercise in weather they appreciate. at least i can put layers on but you cannot take much more off.

TBH I sympathise, I have been laid up with a calf problem for over 6 weeks, I had a scan, it was muscular, told by the consultant to rest,I find it very difficult to sit about all day but I was getting muscle spasms on my walk abouts, felt like I had been kicked by a horse in my calf, it appears to be recovering now but I am very reluctant to walk very far.
In my working life I had ne serious ailments, no fun getting old, it appears the recovery period takes longer.

Got to admit without the dogs I'd have grown roots in the house all day. Don't mind walking them whatever the weather but hate washing and drying them when they come back manky.

I didn’t have problem going out in adverse weather conditions when I was being paid to do so which included spells in the North Sea on the rigs.

quite possibly i,d be dead now without having a dog. i am a slim lad who would have been a fat one without the exercise they gave me. playing hockey and later reffing would not have helped as there was always food and drink available post match to put the weight back on i,d have lost in the game. biggest problem with dogs is not the winter but hot summer days looking for woodland to give em some shade as most are more designed for the cold rather than heat.

It’s all about self discipline, it’s easy to become a couch potato more so with all the delivery services from take aways to the supermarkets. Unfortunately due to Covid people started using those services and have continued to do so. Even here the other day there was 10 delivery motorbikes sat outside the shopping mall and now 7/11 do home delivery for free. I never did anything you mentioned or even now although I make the effort to have walk out every day Accy. I drank too much right up to my mid 60s although when I was on ‘the tools’ it was very physical climbing about which kept my weight down etc. i think diet is the biggest issue but one man’s meat is another man’s poison, it depends what cards you get played. I had prostate cancer now in remission a colonoscopy a few years ago after there was blood in my poo test which was clear, the professor said it could have come from brushing my teeth ?

usually have one takeaway a week but never take the free delivery offer. prefer to go down and even queue and wait for it just to get it back home on the table warm. Know what its like for delivering food as its usually multiple deliveries to do and somebody has to be last. i knew the area i was delivering in unlike a lot now who do not who cannot tell the difference between a road and a drive with the same forename.

Listened to NE forecast early this morning and it said it will be fine this afternoon. Then the 12 noon ish one said rain.
Best advice is dont listen to forecasts they are bollocks.
The bbc app gives different info than the Met Office app yet i thought they were the same now??????
