To put it politely, does he need some time to rest? Does he need a conversation with someone sensible? :o

I mean with this Greenland thing nothing he says holds water. If you check out any of his arguments/beefs/beliefs, they don't stack up.

Does make you wonder if the people around him (his advisors) are too frightened to advise him or are happy for him to show himself up. You'd think he would be briefed about delivery and what not to say but it doesn't seem apparent.

The problem is that nobody around him cares that that he is showing himself up because he's surrounded himself with yes people puppets like Vance, Rubio, Kuschner and Witkoff.

They don't give a flying toss what he does or says and will defend him to their last breath as he's making them all VERY, VERY and one more time, VERY wealthy. The main problem that's been shown up here is just how much power the president of the USA has and how easy it is for him to act on impulse.

If Starmer decided tomorrow that he wanted to invade Corsica he'd be told to calm the heck down. And if he insisted - he'd be voted down and would be out on his arse. That's not the case in the USA.

In the States it's looking more and more like the position of President (with a Congress majority) means that you can do whatever you want.

It's an autocracy. With a greedy, narcissistic old, spoilt rich kid in charge.

What Trump doesn’t appear to realise is all the tariffs he imposes only increases the cost of living in The States.

As the yanks have had access to placing forces in Greenland since 1945, what’s the problem….?
They can use it for defensive purposes to their hearts content, they don’t need to own Greenland.

The yanks want Greenland for the same reason they wanted control of the Middle East then Venezuela, oil, locally produced American crude oil is like ‘water’, the thicker stuff can produce more byproducts. Greenland also has rare earth deposits used in the manufacture of electric car batteries, as usual his statements have caused reactions on the markets, gives his rich mates the chance to sweep up the cheap stocks.

Didn't Ursula von der leyen recently say that Arctic security is a key priority of the EU...Who is she thinking of asking for help with that one?

Any defence systems on Greenland or anywhere else can’t defend against intercontinental ballistic missiles, they fly too fast.
If Trump would just come out and tell the truth for once, he said the other day around Greenland there were Chinese and Russian warships patrolling everywhere but evidently they are not.

At the height of the Cold War US had over 10,000 troops on Greenland. They now have less than 200. It doesn't seem to have been a priority up till now.

The news coming out today is barely believable, with Trump’s memes and his attitude.

He’s lost the plot.

If you applied your missile logic, we wouldn’t need any other armed forces as we could just sit facing each other cancelling each other out…obviously it doesn’t work like that.

Snowy if the missiles started flying from east to west or what ever way it would be armageddon, the size of your armed forces would be irrelevant

The f'cktard keeps stating we can't have China and Russia on our doorstep. Does he not realise Russia is on 55 Miles away from the USA.
With a bit of luck someone will get rid of this maniac, he is the biggest danger to the world since Hitler.

Trump's been calling Greenland - "Iceland" by mistake.

I suppose it's an easy mistake to make, mixing up the place names of countries you wish to forcibly take control of. Unless he means the shop Iceland?

Maybe it's actually the freezer department in Iceland that he wants to acquire, I mean you can never get enough frozen oven chips can you, free if you live on the Sussex coast.

I wonder what the Trump fans think about him saying the British troops avoided the front line in Afghanistan when over 400 died. Maybe they think he’s right everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Donald Trump avoided the military draft five times during the Vietnam War, consisting of four student deferments while in college and one medical deferment for bone spurs in 1968. These deferments allowed him to avoid military service throughout the late 1960s,

British troops were never mentioned, I suspect it’s countries further down the pecking order who supply a field kitchen unit or other behind the lines services.
But it’s an handy deflection line to look outraged.
Most countries in Europe do not spend enough on defence, in clouding us under both the Tories and Labour..especially the Tories.

Be easier to ask how many US Presidents actually did serve in the armed forces…but that wouldn’t suit your embarrassingly obvious agenda.

Be interesting to see if the families of the 457 British personnel killed have that view. Or if say Obama had said it would people’s reaction be different. I personally think like Sussex it was a disgusting thing to say but we are all different.

What agenda is that Snowy, deep down you like Trump and Farage, you never ever express your political views but are quick to put down other posters political views on the board though ?
31 out of 45 US Presidents served in the armed forces,

The Labour Party might become my party again if Andy Burnham becomes PM but he has too much to lose if his bid to become an MP fails either by not being selected in the first place or if he loses the by-election

do not know if its true or not but i have heard that burnham can keep his present job and only needs to resign his present job if he gets elected to parliament. makes sense as if we stood for parliament we do not need to resign our posts.

Silence = complicity
Farage, Tommy Robinson can go fuck themselves. If they want to align themselves to that orange faced twat they deserve everything they've got coming to them.
If Trump wasn't president he'd be in a care home with nurses telling him to shut up and eat his porridge. It's an absolutely disgraceful situation, if people still want to defend him they should be ashamed of themselves.
Hang your head in shame.

Trump talks absolute shite at times in order to get things done. His intent since his inauguration has been to get other NATO countries to contribute more both financially and with boots on the ground. What he said was reprehensible when considering British forces actions and losses in Afghanistan but he was correct in that some nations declined sentence forces with the provisional they weren't ever on the front lines.
He was equally blunt in using the threat of huge tarrifs to get improved trade deals.
But, it's undeniable that he's a man of action and not words, he's a leader not a fence sitter, and he puts US interests above every other country - not bad traits for one of the most powerful men in the world.

I'm not sure he is putting the USA's interests first because he's alienating most of his allies with his erratic, unreliable behaviour.

Try reading what I wrote, not what you want to think I wrote.
I chose my words very carefully.
Not just in Afghanistan either….when the Ukrainians asked for aid we answered their call, the Germans shipped them helmets, just helmets, they didn’t want to get involved.
There’s ‘support’ and there’s support.

Four sentences, two topics.
If it's a" handy deflection line to be outraged" , then lots of people have gone along that line and unsurprisingly have been outraged. He has made similarly
shocking remarks about his own U.S. troops in other areas and at other times.

The second two sentences about defence budgets ,mentioned by Sussex earlier, are certainly valid, but they are not the remarks that caused the furore.

Be easier to ask how many US Presidents actually did serve in the armed forces…but that wouldn’t suit your embarrassingly obvious agenda.

Certainly other presidents have dodged the draft, but the only one who is relevant in this instance is Trump.

By the way, what is Jamie1952's embarrassingly obvious agenda?

I would like to know myself, I think it’s because I have differing opinions from some of the board members and they don’t like it.

But it’s an handy deflection line to look outraged.
Most countries in Europe do not spend enough on defence, in clouding us under both the Tories and Labour..especially the Tories.
Well the birds are coming home to roost at last.

No, you’re right, in isolation…..but it’s all an undeniable fundamental part of the overall problem….and what it all boils down too ultimately.

Trump portrayed himself as the President of Peace, bombed Venezuela and Syria now a massive navy fleet in the Persian Gulf threatening Iran, does he think the Iranians will just hold up their hands and say we surrender, what’s he trying to achieve ?

Maybe their regime will turn their attention to Trump instead of murdering their injured citizens in hospital beds, and beating up their health care workers and doctors?..Keeping them in check? He does it every so often. There's no one else out there to help them,Jamie?

Murdering their citizens, Trump has just shot 2 of his own citizens in cold blood, you have a short memory Sussex, the U.K. helped out in Iraq, Afghanistan etc and what a sh** storm that turned out to be and still is, when did The States last win a war on their own, possibly the War of Independence and kicked the U.K. ass*s !
