Loads of NL clubs have already been busy this month - not just the teams in the top 6 and bottom 4 with something to play for but the likes of Yeovil and Altrincham too.

I see Altrincham have already made four signings this month while we haven't signed anyone yet.

agree, lets get this season out of the way and hopefully we will be looking and signings players tea,s like york, carlisle and the vegans get. hopehully its a new ball game with many new additions next august both on and off the field with pools looking a pro club instead of a joke.

It depends on the new owner releasing the purse strings, he isn’t going throw money about for players until he sees the lie of the land, who would advise him on new signings, Joe Monks ?

whoever advises him we will not get every signing right and it will become more annoying as we will be looking at higher profile players than we do now. monks record has been hit and miss to be fair but fans only remember the duds we brought in and we do not know the names of those who refused our terms and went elsewhere.

Cant see any major signings this season unless to shore up the team. I would wait till summer and do a total rebuild.

You reckon it's his call? What do you think the Head of Football Operations does for a living? It's on Joe Monks to oversee scouting and player recruitment, get the new owner to authorize transfer dealings and then make them happen.

He's been in his job two and a half years and seen off 6 managers in that time. No wonder he keeps a low profile and never gives interviews. Wouldn't want to remind the fanbase of his existence!

Apart from the 'emergency' signing of a half decent keeper in order to keep Smith on the bench, I wouldn't permit the current shower of Monks, Feaths and anyone else of the existing backroom personnel to be involved in short, medium or long term recruitment.

From the new owner's perspective it would be stupid to ask fans to Pack the Park one minute then sit on his hands for the next 4 months while the team slides down the National League table. There'll be hell on with the half-season ticket buyers if that happens.

Poolies need to see some evidence that Smith has got the means to bring in a better calibre of players than Singh sooner rather than later.

LS said he was going to look at every aspect of the club and take the necessary steps to get each operation working smoothly and efficiently, whilst assessing where to make changes. He asked for patience whilst this period was taking place and we should respect that and give him the chance to carry out any changes he deems necessary. I'm confident he will take us forward and look forward to a real and concentrated effort to get the club back to the football league. He has a big job to do so just let him get on with it.

exactly. just write this season off and concentrate on the new pools in august. how fans see how the club is being run and the calibre of new signings will get them to decide on a season ticket. not losing at woking and the fag end of the old regime.

Pity Limbrick is fixed up in the states, With a decent squad i think he would have done a good job.

CAPTAiN America would struggle to motivate the current shower! There's still no news of any signings to boost the squad although rumour is that we are trying to sgn a Saafand keeper who is obviously struggling to secure a first team place.

Meanwhile as referenced above Alty have snapped up four new signings, most of which are attacking midfielders with good EFL experience. Alty are just 3 points above the relegation zone therefore they needed to take drastic action. Rock bottom Gateshead, currently 19 points behind Pools, are also recruiting under their new manager in an attempt to get out of the mire, otherwise known as the Great Escape.

Thankfully promotion chasing Pools seemingly don't need to strengthen the squad - apart from the aforementioned keeper as we are in no danger of becoming embroiled in the end of season frenzy to avoid the drop into Hades - ie the NLN - and potentially swap places with the Darlo on the way down. So, no worries eh brothers - life is good!

Nick Hayes is supposed to be the Keeper from Southend.

Hayes is 6 foot 5 and played in the Solihull and Southend teams that reached the National league play off finals. Sounds like he has signed a permanent contract with us.

Why thank you Snowy I didn't think you cared. As I posted on a different thread I diidn't expect major changes to happen overnight, however like several other contributors here and also in the local media ie Messrs Stelling, Law, Kyle etc I'm very concerned with the teams recent poor form - leaving aside the seemingly one off performance against Rochdale. OK so we have managed to recruit a seemingly adequate keeper on a permanent basis - which was a necessity given the circumstances - but would it be too much to have expected the recruitment of a couple of loanees to bolster the midfield and maybe instigate a little more passion and motivation amongst the existing squad members. The forthcoming two home games should be entirely winnable, regardless of the opposition both recently strengthening their squads. However, given Pools current form and lack of commitment at times I wouldnt be at all surprised if they fell short again on Saturday in front of a larger attendance than normal and worse still, the new owner.

I would be absolutely amazed if Pools beat Altrincham on Saturday. A draw at best and most likely a defeat.

I’m not expecting a dramatic transformation overnight of anything, regardless of who comes in, it’s not like throwing a switch and everything changes ……even if money was being thrown about like confetti and happiness reigns like a Fairy Tale.
Anyone turning up and expects that is away with the fairy’s…it’s a time of change and we’re changing course like the proverbial super tanker changing course……a time for not accentuating the negative, it’s new dawn.

Would like to see us try and get Jeff King, just returned from a successful loan period from Boreham Wood, a proper midfield player, looked very good against us when we played them.

but how many of us would get excited about any of them. we need better than that and i,d rather sign nobody unless they are a vast improvement on what we have got already. we have had as bad as both walker and johnson at pools but fans quickly forget if it suits them.

How many of us have actually got excited over recent Pools signings? Obviously Clearly was an exception and to a lesser extent both Kemp and Mancini. We shall soon find out how effective the new Alty signings are. Personally I think they will need to be absolutely rank to be any less motivated or effective than either Walker or Johnson, hopefully neither will be anywhere near even warming the bench tomorrow. Pools should still be capable to tear Alty's arses out but I m going for 2-2.

Cartwright and McNally were both in great form at the beginning of the season. Pity they both got crocked (par for the course for Pools) but having McNally back is a big plus.

think its unfair to the rest of the squad mentioning those two wasters. its not as if the others are that bad, its a case of will they all turn up on the day. we have all seen the good, the bad and the average from most of them this season even if most games have been totally forgettable.
