Was at pools the other night watching the game. He's not getting much game time at Barnsley, be good if he's on our radar for a loan move, even a short term deal.

would love to see him back especially if he was capable of playing a more central midfield attacking role in the side.

I suspect he’d be even better with this team.

Be great to have Reyes Cleary back, but in the meantime if only we had someone playing wide left who could score a goal out of nothing... https://x.com/Official_HUFC/status/1963 ... gr%5Etweet

Love to see him back but I doubt we couldnt afford his wages and if he had any ambition why would he drop to a none league club? Fight for his place in Barnsley's first team.

he never made it at walsall and now seems to be struggling at barnsley. you can try and have all the ambition in the world but is he another that looks too good for non league but just cannot make it at the moment as an efl player. he,ll never get game time at barnsley if he does not play but would be one of the first names on our team sheet.

Watched the EFL highlights - Cleary tortured the Wycombe defenders for while, scored a cracking goal and almost assisted in another when he skinned his opponent and laid on a golden opportunity - however his teammate hit the post when it looked easier to score. Clearly was subbed after 72 minutes with his side 2-0 up. Wycombe scored twice after that, final score 2-2.

Clearly ain't returning to Pools anytime soon but you would think that the experienced Grayson must surely have sufficient contacts and relationships with EFL clubs to be able to attract a decent youngster or two to follow in Cleary's footsteps at Pools?

fine, but feel cleary is an exception to the rule and not the standard of young play pools or other teams at our level get. if we are looking at a championship clubs youngsters we are down their pecking order for there best young players who might have gone anyway before the transfer period shut. to get a real decent one we might have to wait till january for teams to look at their squad.

Barnsley forward Reyes Cleary has been named the EA Sports FC EFL Young Player of the Month for November.

Great ability and brilliant attitude, how many loanees do we see who seem to think they're too good to be at Pools?
Reyes put himself in the shop window and was possibly one of the best forwards in the league last season, never mind best player we've had in long time. Plenty of self belief shown in turning down a contract extension at WBA. He deserves to do well with his skill and attitude.

Would be interesting to know who "found" him for Pools. Could they find another??

Our boy fouled in penalty area. Commenters agree. Ref says no pen.

100% a pen - Cleary had his shirt pulled and was clearly brought down - the referee was right behind him and he bottled it. Score was 2-1 to the Scouse then but they eventually won 4-1 which totally flattered them. Cleary played well and with better service he could have been a match winner. Definitely MOM.

He's done really well. I'm watching it on Danish TV and the commentator just said "Clearey's put a great advertising board up tonight, as for some reason he's for sale in the January window". And they're still talking about how good he is now (even though it's just ended 4-1).

The 4-1 doesn't do Barnsley justice. They played some quality football.

Reyes Cleary could be turning out in the Premier League before long.

Worth mentioning though that there's already one ex-Poolie playing in the Prem, and he was our player, not just on loan to us.

That's Josh Laurent - scored for Burnley the other week against Newcastle and is a regular in their side, as he was in their promotion-winning team last season.
Craig Hignett signed Laurent for Pools during his first spell in charge. He was flogged off to Wigan part-way through the 2016-17 season when Coxhall had to own up to not having a pot to piss in.

After the game the Liverpool players were complementary towards him. Took the piss out of a few of the defenders.
Hope he goes somewhere he can kick on yet again.

does make you wonder how useful that loan spell he had with us helped him. certainly left a better player than when he joined us.

The diet of Strongarm and Verills fish and chips with a Morrells pork pie each day did the trick.

To be party to the opening hours of Verrills on a day to day basis- shows what a special player he was! :o
