It’s like the old line about someone boasting about having 22 years of good conduct badges, to which someone's replied 22 years of never getting caught.

Badges means you did the courses and gave the right answers ….a bit like doing your driving test and only doing the theory without the actual driving part of the test…and when you get behind the wheel it all goes tits up.

the situation is made worse as if you have no badges you have no job available to you. just a system to keep the sausage factory churning them out and extra jobs created in the game.

It’s the idea you can go on a course that makes you inspirational.

I must have delivered nearly 25,000 Hartlepool Mails every year for 4 years as a paper lad and that is not counting the morning papers and the big Sunday round!

So yes I will take that title you have bestowed on me. Thankyou. :-D

They are coaching badges. Success in most managerial positions will depend on the quality of the squad you inherit, the budget you’re given and the constraints that you need to work under (e.g. having a head of recruitment who decides on all signings, having a backroom staff imposed upon you, having to fight against a toxic atmosphere created by the Owner being a narcissist).

Coaching badges will just teach you the skills to make players slightly better. If you take a job in September with all the summer budget spent on players who are terrible, then improving them to just being slightly less terrible isn’t going to win games.

have always wondered if its one of those courses that you cannot fail. you never hear of anyone going on one and never gets the badge.
