Was talking to a relative at the weekend who'd dropped off his daughter at Newcastle airport the other day, how much I said....we were there for all of 20 mins he said...£6.50, what a rip off.

finding something that isn,t a rip off in this country is a problem. one as big is the willingness of people to be ripped off like the prices charged for food and drink since covid plus some accomodation charges.

Scandalous, Newcastle used to have a free 15 min pickup/drop off area.

Even if you just drive through the drop off point it’s still £6.50, I remember when you got dropped off at the entrance for free and over the years it has gone from free, 50p and £6.50, it’s a cash cow.
All started when the airport in Glasgow got rammed at the main entrance
The 2007 Glasgow Airport attack occurred on June 30, 2007, when a Jeep Cherokee loaded with propane canisters and petrol was rammed into the glass doors of the terminal's main entrance.
Date: June 30, 2007, at approximately 15:11 BST.
Perpetrators:
Kafeel Ahmed: An Indian-born engineer who drove the vehicle; he suffered severe burns over 90% of his body during the incident and died in the hospital on August 2, 2007.
Bilal Abdulla: An Iraqi-born NHS doctor who was a passenger in the vehicle; he was sentenced in December 2008 to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 32 years.
The attack took place a day after the same pair failed to detonate coordinated car bombs in London's West End (Piccadilly Circus and Cockspur Street).

I believe said Jeep Cherokee was stolen from Hartlepool.

Airport drop off charges to be reviewed by the government after a sharp increase in prices.
They're probably kicking themselves for not taxing it.

The operating companies would just up the price to cover the tax.

I think it was a bloke in the Foggy Furze area of the town who sold the vehicle, it was not stolen.

Okay thanks for that. It was a vague recollection but happy to be corrected.

That's the worry with the government being given the heads up about it. We end up worse off usually.

Never pay at Newcastle for drop off or pick up, just do it in the Garage, just make sure you buy a bag of crisp in garage and get receipt!

And it's just across the road from Short Stay 1. ;) Anyone who can carry their bags from Short Stay 1 to the Terminal can carry them another 50 metres to the garage.
