.. really make a difference in today's game?
I noticed that of the 17 League Cup Second Round games last night 14 resulted in away victories, or is it just the lack of importance even higher EFL clubs show for this competition these days?.

Also the disproportionate size of crowds between some clubs in the competition, I mean Fleetwood had a mere 1066 there for a 4-0 home win v Shrewsbury, Blackpool had 2407, Stevenage had 2k, whereas at the other extreme Ipswich had 21,500 ,Plymouth 14,200 and Birmingham lost 6-1 at home in front of nearly 18000.

Sometimes playing away is easier if your fans are on your back…simply because you’re at home, some home ‘fans’ expect a win as the only acceptable result …because they are at home….terrace tantrums and general gobshitery by some home fans is the bedrock of their idea of ‘support’.

then there is the pitch and the changing rooms. at league standard they are both all decent now and that does not come into it now. back in the old days the vic was not the most popular place for away teams to visit.

even the FA cup in the early rounds get poor gates especially if ypu draw a team from your own division. on the whole the interest in ko cups have wained over the years at all levels of the game by clubs, fans and players. They get poorer gates on the continent for these type of games so it seems a british thing. problem not all owners and players are brits anymore and their culture is taking over as many fans cannot be arsed anymore. different at pools as a cup run would be seen as a novalty.

We will find out about 10pm tonight.

I reckon we got a better team than Eastleigh.

But after years of experience the end result doesn't change or have any effect on the next game.

sometimes though the result in one game can affect the nest. always hate playing a team who were hammered in there last game as it never seems to happen twice on the trot. prefer playing one who has hammered someone as that rarely happens twice either. lets say we win by 5 clear goals tonight i wont be at the shay next tuesay night.

I doubt that any team has ever gained promotion or won the Premiership by achieving more away points than home points!
Beating teams at home, particularly those with similar positions in the league, like Eastleigh is a must imo.

Which clubs you on about?

All clubs, I’m referring to that section of any clubs support who demand you win every game at home when realistically it never happens like that.
I expected this season to be likeYorks first season under the new regime where you ain for the top and hope, but I have the feeling it could be a two season job.
However, if by the end of October we’re wallowing about still we have a problem…and I believe it’s in midfield, we need brains there, not work rate.

York had play off failure then instant promotion under their new ownership.

I reckon 99% of Poolies would take that.

It may take a bit more financial clout.

Time will tell.

I see York are off to a flying start in div 4.

While Rochdale are struggling.

Maybe their midfield not supplying euf Ammo to MannyD or he's now above his level.
He's getting on now.

manny D was dropped yesterday but it still did not work for them. anyway he was never a league player but a good nat.league one and its not an age thing with him.
