Worth keeping this thread going as there is bound to be news on some and it keeps everything in the same place. Last night our old mate Fondop was sent off for Oldham in a friendly against stockport.

He is shite- I wouldn't want him playing for us now, even if he has managed a few goals for them.
To be honest, don't think he gets in our team - with the players we now possess upfront.

Luke Molyneux has turned down a new contract offer from Donny and signed for Salford in League 2.

He made 52 appearances in League 1 for Donny last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 11 assists.

Still only 28 and has obviously done it for the money. Donny fans are hopping mad, but what goes around comes around...

Rumours are that Salford paid £750k for him. They are also supposed to have paid Cardiff £700k for Macauley Longstaff and be paying him £10k per week, on an average home crowd of 3,045. Game’s gone.

Molyneux left Pools just after Hartley took over, and to be honest, he did the right thing. He could probably see that Hartley was going to be a car crash, and didn’t want to be a casualty of that.

Stupid money to pay at that level if true. There again Beckham and Neville have the money to waste we will see were they end up come end of season and I wonder if they interfere in football matters. So far neither have done any thing at previous clubs they have been involved with,

its a hobby club where they pay someone to run it so they can just watch on and take the plaudits if things go well. if ever there was a pointless football club its them. how many EFL and premier league teams do one area actually need.

that will include a good number of away fans as there league is a bit northern based. who could miss the delights of the peninsula stadium. once visited that should be enough for anyone.

Was at a wedding in Scotland at the weekend and we were sat on a table at the reception next to a couple we didn't know, turned out to be former Pools player Trevor Smith and his wife, he was actually at Pools from 1977 to 83 and I can remember him playing and scoring in the Milk Cup 4-2 win against Derby County in 82, lovely bloke, still keeps in touch with Mark Lawrence and Mickey Barker.

Fantastic, good player was Trevor Smith. That milk cup game against Derby is still one of the best matches I've ever seen.

Outstanding game and atmosphere.
Think the crowd was 3596 with about 500 derby.

One of the best night games I've attended.


We played Derby a few times in that era.
I was at the 3 0 defeat at derby in 1985 on me 18th birthday

But me favourite was the 2 1 FA Cup win in 1984.

3 names i struggle to remember when i can remember some ex poolies from the 50,s. is it an age thing or the lack of input those 3 gave to the side. thats 3 goals we,ll have to make up now.

Topalaj and Francis both looked like decent players at Pools and them leaving really didn't help our season. Folarin was used mostly as an impact sub (and made very little impact).

you must admit though that they looked better when they started to when they left us. mind you unless you are a poolie through and through who could really blame them.

Can't argue with that at all. Apparently neither of them wanted to be here so of course their game dropped off before they buggered off. I can't remember if we got an undisclosed fee for either of them?

Omar Bogle has just signed for Truro, one year contract. 33 now so even if they win promotion back, we're unlikely to see him back at the Vic.

would not mind as much if we could sign someone who could not kick without slicing the ball but became a goal machine with us. really cannot remember anyone who surprised us after signing.

A lad called Trusty controlled the game tonight for Halifax. Don't tell me he is one and the same who we had on loan.
I wish he was in our midfield, he was excellent.

yes the same man but that was years back when we had him where he was crap because we were just about a league club then. he is older now playing a level lower.

He is also now showing what a decent midfielder looks like. He is a ball winner, can pick out a pass and is extremely mobile, everything we lack in other words.
Wish we had him now.

just how do halifax do it season on season. make players out of rough diamonds and lose managers only to get replacements as good. without looking i,d be surprised if since we dropped down to this level with there small fanbase that they have finished above us in the league more than the other way around. to my knowledge they aint bankrolled either. its pretty obvious with the harris situation they are not big wage payers.

Who knows but maybe, just maybe, they keep it simple and stick to doing the obvious, like making sure the manager knows what he is doing and identifying what is needed at this level, like making sure they have a functional midfield that is capable of servicing decent strikers.
They obviously don't invest much of their budget on consultancy firms for a start.

and employ managers that i for one have never heard of unlike pools. pete wild who always gets a mention om here had his first full time permanent job with them.
