Has been on loan at Boston last season so has had NL experience. I would think he will be around the first team even if not a regular starter but who knows at this stage.

Is he Pools' first Taff on a permanent contract since Effion? Can't think of another.

Jake Cassidy? Sounds Irish doesn't it? But I am not arguing. Didnt Newcastle have a Cassidy back in the 70s? A tricky winger as I recall. I think he was Northern Irish.

Welcome to Pools Owen

Not a player I was aware of, but could be a useful addition and provide competition for places - which is always a good thing. He's a good age, with experience of the level and one we can hopefully develop and maybe make a bit of coin from in the future. Another encouraging addition, on the face of it

Spent ten years at youth level at Manchester United before moving to Sheff Utd, he's got to have something about him. Apparently a creative, intelligent midfielder with quick feet. Pools may have possibly got a very decent prospect on their hands.

Cheers Gerry.

I'm giving myself a free pass for not remembering any of that drizzle of Welsh nonentities

Thanks Gerry-
I had blanked out the horror of Jack Compton, and you've brought him back to the fore.
As if sleeping wasn't difficult enough in this heat- I'll be having nightmares, when I do finally get some decent sleep! :naughty:

The last 2 signings have only been given a 1 year contract with a 1 year option, Ilunga got a2 year one, I can’t see many players rushing to sign for only a 1 year contract ?

good point that. the length of a contract can be a good way of pushing a deal through especially with players living away from the area. 1 year deals always makes me think that its either the club or the player who is not overkeen on the move and is better than nothing.

I've always thought year contracts with an option are a club recognising something in a player but are as yet unproven. Prove yourself and we'll turn it into a two year contract.

That's how I see one year contracts. It's certainly been the case with the players from last years squad both in terms of options taken and players released.

You could over prove yourself where other clubs want you on higher wages but you are made to stay or you are a massive let down and binned.
More like gamble signings them 1 yearers IMO.

100% now looks like we going for a smaller quality squad crock free.

UTP.

I had a chat last night to a Sheff Utd ST holder who rated Hampson. Said we'd got a goodun. Encouraging.
