Just passing on what a fellow Poolie told me this morning.

There's a £2 million players budget.
Which works out roughly at 20 players on 1k a week.

Plus £1 million to sign players - - transfers - - signing on fees etc.

Obviously there will be a bit of mix match with that figure.

If correct then I think with a decent Manager that's good enough to comfortably hit the top 7.

He also mentioned the RiftHouse Masterplan

Replys n Views are welcome. Whatever they are.

Kevin, I think a £1000 a week would be for an average player.

Above average around £2000-3000

Getting players to come to hartlepool costs, Unless we sign local lads.

OK Grey!

So forget about signing players for money. ( which rarely happens in div 5 anyway)
That leaves £2 million to attract out of contract players and pay them.
Hold onto our best out of contract players.

Bin the out of contract shite. All of them for a change.Replace with upgrades.

Something seriously wrong with Our Manager if they can't produce with that.
I'm talking top 7 not pissing the league on 100 points.

Like Snowy keeps saying the getting the correct Manager is vital.

For me I wudent have Fevs anywhere near that budget.

We'll end up with a squad of 23 or so, with a winger a CF and the rest all defenders and goalkeepers.
Turner said years ago, it's a tough ask but if you want to get out of this league you need to aim for 2 points per game on average. Go out with that mindset and you'll have a way better chance of success than this keep a clean sheet at all costs and hope to nick a goal. And at the end of the day it is an entertainment business.

The players have to change the mindset to what they think is brilliant.

Just watched Mileys YouTube video and he reckons thats what the last 2 games have been.
4 points dropped and no goals scored.

Brilliant would be 2 wins or even a win and a draw.
Need a new manager if we getting quotes like that.

wonder if our leader realises its 3 and not 2 points for a win now. play 6 and win 3 and lose 3 you get 9 points. go underfeated with 6 draws and its 3 points less. somtimes a fraw can be seen as a goo result but only when you fight back ftom a losing position to get a late equaliser.

Hartlepool United players generally earn in the region of £1,000 to £2,000 per week, according to Football Manager 2024 data. Top earners at the club were estimated to be around £2,000 per week, with many others on roughly £1,000 per week. Some younger or lower-contract players may earn less, such as an estimated £450 per week for certain roles

As we have seen the trouble (imo) with NF is he will play not to lose, Probably to bolster his position.

To me It will be a gamble to leave him in charge, I,m pretty sure of that. One which could waste another season.
Suppose it depends what LS sees as a long term plan, Would think Bromby may have input on that one.
Hopefully the EX members of the board will not.

As we all have seen this season and beyond teams that sign GOOD PROS, Have a good recruitment strategy and go for it, Would NF be able to handle those characters and scenario

Simple ? for us all to ask ourselves is this.
Would you/we trust him with a multi million pound expenditure.

PS: When i replied to your earlier post regarding a £1000 per player, I was not trying to be clever.
Just what i believe to be true, Maybe i,m way off the mark.

Fev and Pep have something in common, they both like tippy happy possession football. The difference being that Pep has his players doing it in all directions not just backwards or sideways, and Pep has them doing it all over the pitch not just in their own half.
As someone said Elliott has walked back into the job at Gateshead and made a massive impact. The key signing for us right now is a manager, the new manager at York took them from contenders to favourites for the top spot. Bumbling about and claiming draws are great results, or 2 clean sheets in a row against the lower sides is outstanding, is not the way to get out of this division.
Turner, Cooper, Murray, and even Challinor were all relatively unknown and/or inexperienced but they were all had the winning mentality and the football certainly wasn't dull.

No probs.
In Brombys hands now.
Maybe Smithy didn't realise what he originally took on.
As for longish term. Surely that starts with a proper realistic challenge next season for the top 7.

I might of been expecting to much to soon.
Rewind to IOR. It took them 2 years to build what they did.

in reality the task is not great to get a team who finished 8th or 9th into a play off position the next season even with the lop sided side we now have. our problem will be recruting the right attacking players and goalscorers when many of the others are doing the same. not sure yet if we will be in a position to outbid these big teams like solihull and tamworth.

Mr Porter & Boyd - thankfully hasn't posted any of his shite, in recent months.
He managed to sell the club at least 3 times last summer, and it was all 'FACT' - got to the point where he automatically embarrassed himself whenever he posted his latest fantasy.
His 'inside' knowledge has NOT been missed.

He now reckons a Billionaire called Brad is coming over from the USA to help Smithy fund our club.

Maybe a Wrexham style module on the way!!!!

No rumour or Bullshit.

On the Savanagh / Stello / Smithy latest you tube video.

Stello says to Smithy.
You bought the club that Rob n Ryan wanted.

A few Poolies thought it was originally bullshit.
Well it wasent and it's finally been put to bed.

You should read Stelling’s book ‘Saturday Afternoon Fever’. He covers the whole interaction with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is quite a bit of detail. (plus the rest of the book is a really good read too).

I genuinely believe he's seen what's happening at Wrexham and thought I wudent mind having a bit of that.
Obviously on a longer time scale.

This could be better than IOR.

We Gunna find out for sure..

We lived on false hope under Sing.

Depends who you believe.
Stelling says he introduced Reynolds to Raj as Reynolds was interested in buying Pools.
But Humphrey Ker, the man who was responsible for finding a club for Reynolds says we were a contingency if the Wrexham deal didn't come off. He stated that they had 5 criteria each club were scored against with Wrexham scoring 38 out of 50 and Pools scoring 36. Wrexham were always their first choice according to Ker who went on to be CEO at Wrexham.
Don't think anyone has said there was ever an offer?
Water under the bridge a long time ago though and let's hope LS can be as successful with Pools.

According to Mr Stelling he put them in touch with Raj but as it was not announced who they were he refused to deal with them. When he (raj) found out he increased his price twice. They were interested and this pre dated the approach to Wrexham by 3months.

He was the guy charged by Ryan Reynolds to find a club. Why would he even bother to talk about 5 clubs on the list and the selection criteria? His comments add to the fact that there was interest but none of us will ever know if an offer was made. I haven't read Jeff's book but I think he said they wanted to buy and he introduced them to Raj, I don't think Jeff has said there was money in the table has he?
I'd say that our story and history, the town and football club would have made a better story for Netflix mins.

there is nothing really concrete to believe one way or the other. its a matter of believing what suits you. if it was me with a neutral hat on i,d pick wrexham as they are i in 4 welsh league clubs and ith a bit of ground development which they have done they would have brought international football to the area. if the vic could accomodate 200,000 all they, get is a youth international because its not wembley.

The whole 'should've been Pools not Wrexham' thing is ancient history - a massive irrelevance to where we are now.

The way Landon Smith has gone about things since the takeover is really impressive - the best Xmas present any Poolie could have wanted. It's obvious that he is a serious man who is deadly serious about taking Pools to the next level.

Promotion out of the NL might not come this season - it didn't for Wrexham in the first full season after their takeover - but it IS coming and once Pools are back in the EFL we'll be there to stay. UTP.

He needs to calm down a bit  Pools' recruitment is definitely a cut above recent seasons and we'll be paying big wages to the likes of Hugill, Nolan and Harris. Then again, we haven't paid a single transfer fee for any of the 11 signings made so far (might end up having to pay a bit of compo to Halifax for Harris).

We know most about Nolan and Harris, who were two of the best attacking players in the NL last season.
Pools haven't signed all that many with EFL experience - only Hugill (Rotherham), Ilunga (Bromley) and Gibson (Harrogate) featured much for their league clubs last season. Eccleston was on Huddersfield's books and loaned out to Grimsby but hardly played.
4 lads (Popov, Hampson, Penman and Bondo) have been signed straight from EFL U-21 squads - but the first 3 all got some experience in the NL last season and Bondo in the NLN.
Corey McKeown has stepped up from part-time football with Spennymoor.

For the most part, Chris Beech and Co. have been signing good young prospects rather than big names.

This is my worry, people will suddenly expect that we’re going to walk the league, and if we’re only about 5th, then start getting on peoples backs, bringing the atmosphere down.

Top 7 is a successful season, anything more than that is a bonus.

Whatever happens, we will be more successful if the crowd provide the same type of atmosphere that we had under Challinor, loud and supportive. But also patient if we’re having to grind out some results. Teams will come to the Vic to park the bus and try for a draw, as we are one of the favourites, they will also do everything possible to quieten the crowd down.

We’re not going to win 4-0 every week. 23 wins, 12 draws and 11 defeats gives 81 points, which will put us in the playoffs. That’s the minimum return.

So in every 4 games, win 2, draw 1 and lose 1. Any better than that and we’re on target.

For the most part, Chris Beech and Co. have been signing good young prospects rather than big names.

is it just the feelgood factor around the place where we are getting giddy about the signings or are they actually as good as we hope. Unless i missed something i did not hear of much dissent when last seasons failures were originally signed.

So when are we going to be told about the result of Pool's endeavours at the fan Fest in New York and any future investment in the club from the USA.

They said that they are already up, so must have agreed some deals that have more than covered the price of the trip. It might not be some major announcement for that, it could just be deals for pitchside sponsorship or something similar.

But it will also be a lot of networking that could lead to longer term relationships with sponsors or future investors, along with reputation, additional wider interest in the club, which could open doors further down the line.

Although PSG were next to our stall, so if we could get Dembele on a season-long loan, that would be good.

You forget there is also club staff who all have to paid a wage, around 13 of them.

I'd be over the moon with finishing 7rh.
That would be a monumental improvement from previous seasons despite the crab blowing up his own arse from last season.

Then owt can happen in the play-offs like last time.

I’m surprised that Robbie Stelling hasn’t been taken on for that.

do not think our staff numbers away from the playing side of the club is all that high in comparison to others. heard 250 mentioned at a league 1 club.

There's 30 club staff listed including the vacant Media Officer post. That doesn't include any of the match day part-timers.

It's got to be Simmo for me. Surely he could be tempted back.
