Pools v Southend

Well I feared the worst after conceding in the first minute, and was expecting us to get absolutely mullered.

BUT absolutely delighted we managed to beat SARFend - even if it was a bit tense at the end, it was a BIG win In the Kettering household, versus my shrimper Outlaws. I won't be crowing too much, given our failure to make the playoffs- though quietly satisfied that I won't be having to endure lots of piss taking in the coming days- whilst gently reminding them that, your only as good as your last game! :dance:

It's just a pity there wasn't more riding on the game.
We need to sign Sinclair permanently - what a difference he's made, in his time here.

if they had put away all those chances in the first 20 minutes before we got out of our own half it could hav ended up being worse than the weadstone result. think we should be looing to sign both john and sinclair from york. even if they are still under contract i cannot see either would cost the earth as they both seemed out of favour there.

bloody hope not. conceeding 4 goals to a team who previously only managed 3 and scoring 3 themselves and coming away with nothing. surely there is a big ground inbetween playing fev ball and all out attack with a weak defence.

A ‘master class’ that produced little in the way of goals for most of the game till the pointless substitutions…….a fan of theirs bemoaned their habit of getting into the box and failing to produce the goods…fans don’t change and everyone is critical of their own teams , it goes with the ‘job’.

he does have a big point. watched them a couple of times in non pools games but really flatter to deceive. bit of an old west ham from division 1 type of team when they had a number of england players in there side.

Nice to get the win but it didn't mean anything at the end of the day with us unable to make the play offs and Southend already there, hence their 7 changes from the side that demolished Halifax at the weekend.
A bit of momentum though, and hopefully we'll improve next season by at least enough points to make top 7.
What was the attendance btw?

There's worse ways to finish the seaon than with an entertaining game and a win. Lot of optimism about next season from people leaving the ground.

I think most of us are optimistic about next season, more due to the fact that NF, Monks and others are leaving than because we've beaten 2 sides who'd already cemented their play off places though.
With the decision to relieve NF of managerial duties already made and the early end to the season hopefully we'll see positive and early appointments and signings so that we're not playing the usual pre-season catch-up which has often been the case. Expecting a better standard of pre-season games coming up, and possibly a ST offer to stimulate sales too.

a really good ST offer after last seasons debacle should be top priority. 4,000 at £200 a head is better than 1,999 at £400.
