I would like to add my thanks to Nicky Featherstone for stepping into the role of manager and doing his best. Not the easiest of jobs!
But at the end of the day, we need what is good for HUFC and hopefully the next manager is the right step, we will see!

at least its news most of us wonted. question now is who will he be replaced by. my personal prefernce would be a young NLN Or NLS manager who has worked a near miracle at his present club. problem is nobody stands out and the league tables r more or less what people expect.

In his interview with RobLaw yesterday he stated around 90% of the players are out of contract in the summer.

Would anyone have Simon Grayson back?, he was given very little to work with while here and with a decent squad could do a lot better?

Grayson back? no way, we need to look forward not back. Next appointment has got to be the right one, hopefully experienced at this level but not a dinosaur. Someone still young enough and ambitious enough to take us forward.

A lot of rumours circulating that the new manager will be former player Daryll Clarke!

Fresh start, clear out and keep what’s worth keeping, time to move on.
Next season starts now.

Be careful what you wish for, Paul Hartley and Darren Sarll were seen as promising young Managers and they were a disaster.

Good start, he was out of his depth and definitely not what we need. I'd take Trigger Clarke, Mike Williamson, Steve Watson, or Rob Elliott.

Every time you sign a manager you take a risk, but you have to have one.

I think Fev has had a fair crack of the whip but has been found wanting. I thought as caretaker he actually started off quite well (apart from the Cup/Trophy), and although we weren't tearing into teams we did actually seem to be progressive with creating chances as games went on. After the permanent appointment we just went into anti-football mode creating very little and boring most of us close to death, I didn't see that coming.
My preference would be for him to move on and learn his trade somewhere else, there's an association with almost constant failure since he's been here, a thorough clean sweep will be best imo.

Daryll Clarke had an awful time on his return to Bristol Rovers this season. His replacement a slim Steve Evans has completely turned things around there with six wins on the bounce. Its a funny old world.

National Lge, EFL experience needed, Maybe even affiliated with the club.

But i think it may well well be someone in the mould of Wrexhams appointment,Phil Parkinson.
Maybe even someone who has been/is managing abroad.

The decision will be made by the consultation team that was brought in, hopefully they have some one lined up already.

What about Rob Elliott at Gateshead, performed miracles on his return there. His teams always play attractive football and he seems to know his way round the loan market very well.

I said the same a week or two back but I don't think it will happen. Not sure that Bromby and Partners know anything about Tier 6.

Anyway, as every Pools fan knows, sacking managers is the easy bit. Raj was a dab hand at it ;)

The next couple of months will should show the scale of Landon Smith's ambition - not just the new manager appointment but how many of the current squad are scattered and whether there are any 'statement' signings that show Pools are aiming higher.

He flopped horribly when he got his chance to manage in the EFL at Crawley.

At the minute he's a one club success story - but like you, I think he might be worth a punt.

Agree 100%. Proven track record at this level and gets results out of average players. I'd have him in the building like a shot.

At face value Elliott would appear to be a sound choice but there's a world of difference between escaping relegation and taking a club into a higher division - just ask Ronnie Moore! Also, Elliot failed miserably at Crawley although to be fair they appear to have taken Pools place as perennial L2 strugglers, apart from a brief spell in L1 a couple of years back.

No matter who we get, its a flip of a coin whether he succeeds!!! Grayson should of been to good for us, but he failed.......... Its a toss of a coin, a few bad results ( no matter who it is in charge) and you are toast at this club!!! Some of our fans are vultures......

The employment of Bromby and Partners to me is a step in the right direction together with the dismissal of Nicky Featherstone . Landon has not got any experience as far as I know in running a football club but is ambitious about getting us back into the next tier . To do it he needs a manager who has a proven record in getting teams promoted at least from this league and who has the personality and expertise to get the best out of players and a philosophy of playing attractive football . Although I have been critical of Featherstone, I think he has done his best but his thought processes are just too reactive . We need a dynamic and forward thinking manager . Who I don’t know . Further, with most players out of contract we need more or less a new squad . Need to back Landon for now and Nicky can be given some sort of job in the youth set up to develop his career. He is still a young man .

Fevs come out this a very lucky lad staying on the pay roll.

In Bromby we have to trust.
I expect a significant improvement.
The only way is up to justify this Takeover.

UTP.

Why should Grayson have been good for us…?
Why was he managing outside the country if he was that good.
Every appointment anywhere can be based on a number of factors for things to line up to make any appointment work…it’s a gamble with a bit of luck thrown in…there are no certainties.
Also can depend on the vanities of the owner and how they interact with managers.
You add the ingredients, stir them up and hope it turns out right.

And, there's no room for sentiment, what do the club owe NF, he's had a testimonial year out of us already? We should only be employing people based on ability or potential not sentiment imo.Why do we need to keep bringing back ex players who rarely ever turn out to be any good?

We should also expect a much more organised and professional pre-season. No more appointing managers too late in the day when there are no decent players left to sign and no more foreign tours without a squad and having to borrow players from the opposition!

I applaud the club for making the decision, but how will this affect his team talks ?

The 3 remaining games are nothing matches anyway so his team talks will probably be the usual "go out and frustrated them lads and we'll hopefully nick a goal" - meaning frustrated the fans as much as the opposition.
It's a simple game, just show them the highlights of the Carlisle game and say "just do that again".

Plus in a couple of weeks ST prices will be announced and sales starting, how many would we sell with the prospect of him being in charge next season?

I would like to think that he will be considered for another role provided it isn't attack coach!

Doesn't he live a fair distance away? I'd be surprised if he doesn't find something closer to home in a lower league.

I see him connected to Harrogate when Weaver eventually calls it a day.

I thought he lived down that way, can't see Weaver Junior getting moved on but could see Fev as assistant. I'd also expect that Fev will be taking a significant pay cut at Pools in any role offered once his playing contract ends.

thought fevs lived in hull or around there. just cannot see him being with the club next season as he must have some pride being ratd not good enough for a manager but fine in a small coaching role. anything above could see him being replaced by our new manager.

In his interview he implies he wants to be around the 1st team, I just can't see a new manager wanting him anywhere near his team it would surely be an unsettling experience for everyone concerned.

would not turn my nose uo at Craig Mahon the present manager at fylde. 36 years old with years of national league playing experiance plus a decent spell as a manager with curzon ashton. could lightening strike twice from an ex fylde manager.

I am not getting carried away yet.
NF being replaced is the first step. The next important step is the next managerial appointment. Then the creation of a new squad.
Then we will have some idea of where we are going.
Then, as usual, the first ten games.
If by Xmas I can see a reasonable chance of getting amongst the promotion hopefuls I might consider a half season ticket, not before.
There are events that could speed up that consideration...obvious ones like the quality of the squad and the pedigree of the players and manager but definitely no diving in from this end.
The phrase that the return to the EFL is "the long term goal" is ringing bells for me. I need more meat on that phrase and the right evidence that we are set up in the right direction.

It's strange that whilst caretaker and excluding Cup/Trophy games we looked as if we had a squad and manager capable of forcing a way into the play offs, perhaps with an astute signing or two. Since the permanent appointment the wheels effectively came off as seemingly the shackles were applied. What happened to change things after the permanent appointment?
