As for supporting Trump in Iran, we most certainly have mobilised support to Cyprus as soon as the first drone landed on the British base there, or should we turn the other cheek, and we should be doing whatever it takes to protect British shipping travelling through the Straits of Hormuz. The widespread and indiscriminate revenge attacks by Iran on non-aggressive nations shows that those mad feckers need to be held in check. Make no mistake, if they'd had nuclear weapons they'd have been launched by now.

Oh god there is stupid and stupider. I thought it was just Maga supporters in the south who are dumb. You will be saying you believe in God soon. Trump and his party are all nut jobs and we need to stay out of this war. Trump is probably the dumbest president America has ever had

Been ‘on the sick’ Snowy, you normally pounce on replies like this, well you do when they are mine, no relation nor an alias, good to see some one post with similar views for a change.

Are you serious….I can never tell if you’re ‘replying’ or ‘rambling’ ….so don’t worry.

Pot calling the kettle black Snowy, at least i reply to the right poster, if it was the wrong one I would apologise but that word doesn’t exist in your vocabulary Snowy, you just go off on one of your many ramblings.

Of course there were no no boat arrivals before Brexit, they had freedom of movement with no border controls. Since Starmer announced he'd smash the gangs, the numbers arriving and associated costs have risen month on month.
And to cap it all, all this extra revenue from vat in fuel that Jamie claims will help clear the national debt, along with the highest tax burden the country's ever seen in peacetime, government borrowing has just been announced to have risen to record highs again.
How's Rachel from accounts going to square this one?

Freedom of movement only applied to EU citizens, stop watching GB News or as Andrew Neil called it Reform News, I doubt any EU citizens are using boats to enter the U.K. as they can apply for a visa in their home country and enter legally.
Why you asking how Reeves is going to balance the books, energy companies will be putting prices up based on global energy prices which no government has any control over and will be passed down the ‘food chain’ to the consumer. Any product which uses oil and gas will see prices rise but as usual when the price falls the price of product won’t.

In case you haven’t noticed there is a war in the Middle East thanks to Trump, the price of gas has doubled and the oil price has increased significantly, some one has to pay for it, energy companies aren’t a charity.

But the latest record high borrowing figures are to the end of February, before the attacks on Iran and feck all to do with energy prices. That's why I ask how Rachel is going to balance the books - oh, I know she could use some of the windfall (profiteering from the war) extra vat from fuel prices increases. We got there!!

It's an excuse to up the price.
About 100% up from 5 years ago.

Yep, we had the world's highest energy prices before the war even started.
All about profits and government taxation regardless of the government saying they're helping. As ever they're offering a few crumbs to a select few only while they've actually robbed most pensioners.
Yet according to Starmer, Rachel, and Jamie we're better off since Labour gained power and as a nation debt is falling, GDP is growing, Government Borrowing is falling - fantasists!!

Government taxation, they haven’t increased taxes on fuel, gas or electricity, they haven’t robbed pensioners, most pensioners born on or before 21 September 1959 receive it automatically, those with an annual income over £35,000 will have the payment automatically recovered by HMRC.
I never said we are better off under Labour, but until the Iran conflict fuel has been at its lowest prices than it has been for years, there is going to be reduction in the fuel cap. Iran has been stockpiling weapons for years and had plans already in place if they were attacked.
Trump has now said he is not bothered about the blockade in the Hormuz as it doesn’t affect The States, he forgets they get a lot of fertiliser from there.

What internet people, Google ‘have oil and gas prices increased in the last 3 weeks’, crude oil has gone from $70 a barrel to over a $100, gas prices on the open market have surged 90%.
You expect the oil and gas companies and governments to bear the brunt of the increases ?
Yes I did have shares in oil and gas companies, minute mind you but sold them due to the volatility in the market.

They have had increased tax income due to price rises though, which they could have offset to help people. Of course they've robbed pensioners of the WFA with the majority either getting a reduced amount or nothing at all.
The fact is we've had the highest global energy prices for years, not helped by Labours mad drive for net zero which includes Millibands green levies, and if course there's Great British Energy quango to pay for. While Milliband and his entourage attendance at the latest COP meetings in Brazil not only seriously impacted their personal carbon footprint, don't forget the huge area of rainforest which was chopped down to create access roads to this great "green event", but cost us the taxpayers nearly £1million.
You often refer the harm Truss's budget did to the economy yet not a peep about the destruction ongoing under Reeves. Wonder why?

Only the pensioners who deserve the WFA get it now, do you think anyone with a income of over £35000, £670 a week deserves the WFA ?
I’ll say again Labour haven’t increased the price of fuel to increase revenue, they have no control over it.
Highest energy prices for years, UK governments don’t set energy prices it’s the privately owned foreign companies who do thanks to Thatchers sell offs.
Can you outline the destruction Reeves has caused, interest rates were at their lowest for years and energy prices were reducing until you idiot friend Trump decided to start a pointless war.

Regardless of the very wealthy they've taken it from or reduced it for those with relatively low incomes, no matter how you try to justify it the way it was done was simply wrong. I've had mine taken away, and I regard that as theft.
Labour insist on green levies, and taxes as a percentage of fuel prices so I'll say it again they are raking in a lot more than they budgeted for so why not ease vat or green levies whilst prices are so high?
The damage Reeves has done? Are you having a laugh? The war has been ongoing for all of e weeks so stop trying to blame it for the nations financial woes. Here's a quick list of the consequences of her 2cbudgets:
Younger workers unemployment up
Overall unemployment up
Growth down
Borrowing up
Businesses going bust up
Wages falling in real time
Taxes highest on record in peacetime

You read too much of the right wing MSM and you need to stop watching GB News, here is a vlog where a company set up 20 individual journalists from right wing and left wing media outlets to prove how right wing biased GB News is and OFCOM don’t do nought about it.

So now Jamie admits the list is correct - once again he gets round to the polar opposite of his initial position!!
And, once again I need to explain to him that I have no affinity to any party, regardless of which party is in power I'll criticise when I think they're Fecking up, and praise when I think they're found something very well. The problem is there's way more feck ups than very good coming from the present bunch.

The problem is that the Labour party is full of Jamies and there's quite a lot of that ilk in parliament and they are in constant denial with reference to their performance. If their poor performance and feck ups were miniscule, as Jamie claims, then I'd be grateful if my bank balance was of similar miniscule proportions.

FWIW - I can see PTID's point about the increase in tax take, re petrol. They big it up about profiteering but are happy to accept the bonus themselves.

Then of course there is the VAT on domestic fuel. it doesn't get mentioned much now but one of the supposed Brexit benefits was that we could cut this tax out, and what's happened? FUCK ALL!

Despite Boris Johnson saying he would do it. Despite Ed Millibonkers saying he would do it. Why do we pay VAT on our gas and electric, to keep warm, keep the lights on and cook?

Hardly a luxury.

Why is that, isn’t there still freedom of speech, I have a few friends in Hartlepool and elsewhere who support Labour, whilst they are critical of the current government they wouldn't be jumping from party to party on the promises they put on their manifesto.
Would you prefer a return to Thatcherism ?

‘Over here in the UK’……?
He only has to get the bus down from Throston.., 15 minutes with a tail wind ….unless he calls in at Pieland ( Morrell’s) in transit, which is probably where the Thailand fable comes from..
He probably watched too much ‘Tenko’ on the telly.

Hardly a luxury.

VAT was originally a single figure luxury tax that replaced purchase tax adter joining in with europe. its uses increased and the percentage we pay did right up to the 20% nowadays. does make you wonfer out of every quid you earn what prcentage of tax is taken from it in all the different forms.

Don't mention the Labour Party when you're over here in the UK would be my advice too,Jamie.

Why is that, isn’t there still freedom of speech, I have a few friends in Hartlepool and elsewhere who support Labour, whilst they are critical of the current government they wouldn't be jumping from party to party on the promises they put on their manifesto.
Would you prefer a return to Thatcherism ?

And, once again I need to explain to him that I have no affinity to any party, regardless of which party is in power I'll criticise when I think they're Fecking up, and praise when I think they're found something very well. The problem is there's way more feck ups than very good coming from the present bunch.

The problem is that the Labour party is full of Jamies and there's quite a lot of that ilk in parliament and they are in constant denial with reference to their performance. If their poor performance and feck ups were miniscule, as Jamie claims, then I'd be grateful if my bank balance was of similar miniscule proportions.

Nope. And I'm not a Nigel, Kemi or a Zak. Are you so devoid of genuine debate that you have to make things up. I resigned my membership of the Jamies on a point of principle, cos, unlike you, I don't blindly follow the party line and I don't defend their amateurish attempt at government, unlike you.

I know for a fact that if this meningitis outbreak had been anything other than a few isolated cases Starmer and his cronies would've been pushing to implement a lockdown, and also push to have the local council elections cancelled in May, I'd put nothing past that weasel.

Sssshhhh..you shouldn’t have said that, Jim Bob will be on the phone to Starmer telling him he’s had a brilliant idea how to torpedo the elections.

I’ll say again Labour haven’t increased the price of fuel to increase revenue, they have no control over it.
Highest energy prices for years, UK governments don’t set energy prices it’s the privately owned foreign companies who do thanks to Thatchers sell offs.

Much as I hate to get involved, the above is wrong.

Governments do have a huge say in the price of fuel, by their laws, decisions, tax take, levies, granting licenses etc. In fact Jamie, you’ve contradicted yourself above, writing firstly that governments have “no control” then stating it’s Thatcher’s fault.

Jamie is a contradiction, in anthropological terms, just here to muddy the waters and deflect the stinging bullets of criticism away from his bullet riddled Party…and failing.

Have you seen an announcement in the MSM that Labour are responsible for the recent increase in the price of fuel Snowy ?
On a side note the price of crude oil has dropped, does that mean the price of fuel will reduce ?

I don’t favour, belong or follow any party Derwent, the current Labour Party is too centralist for me, might as well call them Conservative mark 2.

Wrong, ok they control it through taxes but no government has increased the price of fuel since 2010, fuel and energy costs could have been lower if Thatcher hadn’t sold them off.
The last actual increase in UK fuel duty occurred in 2010. Since then, duty has been frozen at 57.95p per litre, and in 2022, it was temporarily cut to 52.95p. However, this 5p cut is set to end, with staged increases bringing it back up from September 2026, totaling a 5p rise by March 2027
