one of those fixtures that seem to favour the home side. we always seem to lose down there and they do at the vic. lets hope this carries on but remember the jinx is coming up for this one even if i have never seen pools lose to them.

The Shots form has improved recently and they have had some thumping wins so they certainly know where the goal is.

Certainly not as easy to predict as games like Brackley which were an obvious bore fest but I reckon Aldershot will fancy their chances.

Well, as I have pointed out in other threads, I think a massive opportunity is in danger of being missed. Already there is a hint of "I think I'll wait and see" being aired as fans are waiting for development. A lot of people have voiced the opinion that our current situation is not strong enough to mount an serious assault on the play offs, mainly due to what I call the ticking over mode created by the previous owner. Ls specifically said that is was his aim to make a serious attempt at the play offs and, although it appears that the green shoots of loosening the purse strings have started, the fan base doesn't appear to think it is, as yet, enough to swing them into actual promotion mode. We need a strong sign of intent before it is too late.
We are still lacking strength in depth, more striking options and visible signs of what it takes to get us going. The fans sense that and are appearing to be keeping their powder dry.
Tomorrow a massive performance of announcing our move into promotion mode needs to happen. Nothing less than a convincing win needs to take place, followed by a couple of eye catching signings and then the backing will erupt.
You will see the fan base respond, Mr Smith. Just give them something to respond to.

I’ve been advocating patience since day one of the ‘liberation’ from the endless days of stagnation, that things take time, yet some expect things to change overnight.
I may be easily pleased, but the shoots of new growth appear to be starting to come through and even at this early stage opt dim is grown after the wilderness years.

Don,t know what it is, But after listening to his latest interview with RL i am beginning to warm to him.

Time will tell.

As things stand quite a lot of people would agree with you and if nothing changes it will probably pan out as you describe.
However the owner stated that is is possible, Holohan has stated he wouldn't have come here if he didn't believe it can be done and Fevs said he has a target that he thinks will get us in or around that goal. With reference to those statements I would submit it is not out of this World. The possibility gets a bit nearer to being a probability. It all rests on LS improving the toolbox, Fevs choosing the right tools and persuading them to buy in and using them positively and Gav and the other squad members giving their all. Lady luck will also play a part with injuries, suspensions and the rub of the green. Plus, of course, our backing. NSD

Not taken as a dig mate. I'm basically advocating that if LS really wants a crack at promotion this season, or even the chance of it, then what he does will have the greatest influence on achieving it. If he doesn't manage it then we dust down and go again. There is a chance, however remote, and the decision is all about whether we go all out to help that chance or do we adopt a different approach. That is down to LS and I fully accept and respect that.

I would suggest that the year Grimsby went up with Gav in the team - they came from nowhere to get in the playoffs and then won them, with him being an integral part. Gav obviously thinks he can help us do similar again, particularly under new stewardship.

We obviously all want instant success after treading water for so long, but I think we need to relax a bit and trust the process (even if that does a bit sound cliched)! Ok we might not finish in the top 7 this year BUT providing we continue to see incremental improvements across the board, I'm confident the good times will roll again. There is still a lot of football to be played and all we can do is look after our own fortunes and see where it takes us.

I would LOVE IT (Keegan-esque), if we sneaked in the playoffs in front of SARFend. Firstly because my outlaws and missus are all shrimpers and secondly because we have Hayes in goal. Apparently their keeper (SARFend) was at fault, for Rochdale's late winner on Tuesday night - which provided me with a warm glow of satisfaction!

I have to say the pre match interview was so much better than what we've had in a long time.
Think this needs to be the new norm with Rob Law asking the important questions followed by young Stelling and then the young lad (not sure what his name is- is it Josh?). Without wishing to sound condescending (and what with me being a teacher) be a good lesson for (Josh) in seeing how it's done and should help him structure interviews better going forward- bit of on the job training, as it were.

I think you mean Daly, Dolan was one of the many past failures at Pools of course. But you are otherwise absolutely correct of course, both Chairman and Daly would surely have made a difference today along with Francis who will surely tear our inept defence apart in a couple of weeks time. Another poor decision by the club to dispose of one of the few players with a bit of talent simply because he (allegedly) threw a strop, no announcement from the club as is the norm regardless of the ownership. In my opinion only the two new signings came out of todays game with any credit whatsoever although Holohan not surprisingly faded in the second half. Feathers should put his hands up and admit that he is not football management, resign and request a return to his previous role.
