It would be another last pay day signing (Brad Walker, Danny Johnson). He was decent when he was here, but he's 34 now and in decline not the type of player we should be looking for if we are to progress.

I'd take him on loan until the end of the season with an option to sign, it it worked out. We're crying out for a player like him.
Holohan was never a lazy player, I think he has enough respect for the club and the fans not to toss it off.
My only concern would be if the memory of his first stint was ruined by a shit second stint.

Johnson and Walker, what can you say that's in anyway positive about those two signings, I'd love them to get their head's down and graft their way back into the squad...
but in all honesty their body language stinks of ....I can't be arsed.

To be fair Johnson was never going to work unless you had someone alongside him that would do all the hard work and give him the ball in the box, we instead signed Alex Reid who isn't that kind of player. Walker had had injury issues for years and is just another defensive midfielder to add to our surplus of them.
Holohan as a box to box midfielder is not something we really have in the squad, he might've lost some pace but he only signed for Crawley in League One 2 seasons ago. I'd rather we went for a younger version of him but I don't think he'd be a bad signing, would also add some more leadership to a squad who've seemed fairly fragile for a while.

Keep hearing that but why should you have to sign somebody to play alongside someone and do all the work?, he should be capable of doing his share of the work too, otherwise how has he managed to forge out a career as a professional footballer.?... crazy.

Because he was supposedly lethal in the box when you got the ball to him. It's more a question for pools recruitment team that anyone who's seen Danny Johnson play, even if it was just the 4-0 loss to Walsall, could tell you exactly what you would be getting from him but we didn't try to compensate.

Seen Stephen Wearne being mentioned on X as well. Midfield player at Carlisle.

We need a ‘voice’ on the pitch to start kicking collective arses.

I'm lethal in the box if someone Tees up the ball for me from 8 yards out, it shouldn't be too much to ask for someone to put in a shift out of possession should it?

I'd have Gav back- he's never been replaced- give him an 18 month deal.
He knows the club, fans and even has his own song - bring him home!
It's a yes from KP

Holohan's knack of scoring goals from midfield was was what made him special in the promotion season.

He's scored once in the last 18 months and is obviously past his sell by. No thanks!

He’s 34 not started for a terrible Crawley in the last 15 games, are Pools looking to move on with an eye to next season?

Holohan surely can't be any worse than several of the current misfits even at 34 - he has good experience, a football brain - he's proved his worth at Pools and also for clubs higher up the echelon. Might be worth a punt on a short term contract until the end of the season.

Doubt he would come till the end of the season, But you never know.
One thing for sure there would be an energy boost in midfield even at 34.

I’d be all for the Irishman to return, especially if it meant I never saw Hunter and Sheron play together again. He might be past it a bit now but if it’s a favourable deal for us, I.E loan, or deal till end of the season with option for an extension, might be a bit of a boost for the fans, and he might still be able to give something different for us. At 34 seems those days would be more occasional than often, but wouldn’t be any worse than headless chicken #1 and #2, and he might at least get on the pitch unlike Walker.

He was past his best when he left, what does he offer to a manager intent on setting up a team not to concede goals rather than actually score a few?
We need more pace and width as demonstrated in the last couple of games by Folarin who put some great crosses in during both cameo appearances, not saying he's the answer but he must surely be given a start soon.
Fev got out of jail in both of those games but probably thinks he's a tactical genius. The truth is that recent performances are as poor and dour as under Sarll.

bring him home and show intent with getting mols and sterry from donny in the summer. thats how wrexham and stockport did it by signing players too good for the nat. league and paying good league 1 wages. we,ll never do it on the cheap though thats a fact.

Gav has proved himself as a very good National League player. He also had a big hand in Grimsby escaping this shit show of a league after he left us.

Where he appears to have come unstuck is when he has played in the EFL regularly- maybe a step to far for his ability. With that in mind- get him in and use his experience to help free us from this dark place! As others have said he's not the long term answer but has surely got to be better than what we currently have available in the short term.

Probably Reid, can't have enough players behind the ball if you want to keep a clean sheet.

Miley can play the attacking midfielder, it's where he played during his Newcastle career. And he's a better option than Holohan imo.

Correct!

surely we can cater for 2 attacking midfielders on the books when we can have 3 defensive ones under the raj days,

Campbell is an attacking midfielder, as is Daly, and as mentioned Miley. Width is what we're lacking most imo (after an attacking mindset of course).

Yes, all three are attacking midfielders. Another thing they have in common is a lack of pace, something Gav Holohan never had.

Matty Daly has 4 league goals for the season now (plus one in the Trophy). If Holohan is signed he'd presumably replace Campbell in the starting 11, leaving Daly still on the bench and the midfield as slow as it's been all season.

Why does NF play Daly wide then? He knows his best position but doesn't play him in it - masterstroke Nicky.
Campbell had a really good spell just after Featherstone took over and was undroppable, recently he's been poor and shouldn't be starting.

Think you answered your own question. Campbell's good form was a big surprise when he came back into the side, up to the win at Rochdale. He's been really poor since and should be be dropped now.
Maybe he will be as the next match is an away game. If it was another one at the Vic I've got a feeling Feaths might play him just to show some of the noisy gobshites in the stands that they ain't picking the team

We now after a Carlisle forward who's struggling to score goals.
Marvelous.
A reckon the Gav H talks will result in a 17 month contract.

Marvelous.

possibly because daly does better coming off the bench than when he starts. seems on the outside of the game with few touches of the ball. having really good subs who can come on and impact the game is as important as the starting 11. some players are crap coming off the bench whilst others are not.
