A wins a win, better odds available earlier as advised by Mr Stocksfield.

The trainer's ploy to get it a low handicap rating worked, rated 60 after the first 3 runs, rated 64 after a fast finishing 2nd first time in a handicap.
Watched the race and the horse was the best in the race at the weights by some margin.
Gambled from an early morning 9/4 right down to 4/5 so a lot of people knew that the horse should win.
Got into traffic problems late on, but with the skill of Kevin Stott and knowing he was on a good thing, he managed to get the horse through a gap and it finished like a wet sail, just getting up in the final strides.
Horse was probably worthy of winning by a couple of lengths rather than a head if it had a clear run through.
The handicapper may react and put the horse up a bit more.
Horse is certainly capable of more wins in Class 6 events, maybe the trainer will up the horse to some class 5 races where it will carry less weight.

I certainly would not have taken the 4/5 about the horse, a sure fire way to the poor house.
But the bits and bobs I got at 4/1 meant the bet was a very good value bet and the horse won, just!
But it would have been an unlucky loser.

I'll keep any eye out when the horse is due to run next.

Possibly worth following until it loses then? Short winning margin might mean the handicapper isn't too hard on it wrt weight rise. Maybe better again over longer distance too.
Who'd have thought Raj and winning would be mentioned in the same sentence eh?

With about 100 yards to go he had eight in front of him. I bet there were a few hearts in mouths during those closing stages.

Once the horse got going and the gap appeared, I knew the horse would get there on the line.
But you are right, anyone else watching would have been left mesmerised by what happened.

Was 29/1 in running after it got blocked!

Raging Raj won the 15:45 7f race at Southwell on the AW yesterday. Opened 4/6 and drifted to 4/5.
Won easy enough but the early prices were prohibitive, 4/5 fair enough if that price is your sort of thing.

www.attheraces.com/atrplayer-popout/VOD ... Result=yes

Rating has gone from 60, 64, to 70, won last two races, so another hike, but he may be moved up in Class sooner rather than later.

Declared to run on Sunday 28th Dec, Southwell 14:10, only 4 horses in the race.
Up to Class 4, now rated 77.

Took a bit of 9/4 this morning for a fun bet, Lake Como is fav and Raj will need to eek out some improvement to beat him.

The odds tumbled on Raj after my bet, now back on the climb.
Have done a bit of trading on Lake Como and Raj so I have the race all greened up with Raj winning being the best result.

different tactics employed, Raj led for most of the way but Lake Como easily had his measure.

Yes you could say that, as in more like a hobby for the owners of Raging Raj.

Keep away from the bookies, they only allow losers to bet with them. Use betfair to try and get value odds, you don't get banned if you win!

Also saw the video where a Bet365 punter was jailed for running a set of accounts to overcome the restrictions placed on his account.

I have had a dozens and dozens of emails and letters banning me from bookies informing me that my business was not welcome.
I was lucky as I was able to circumvent bookies detection tools between 2001 and 2011, I knew the tricks they played and manged to overcome them.
In the end, it was not worth it as they began to introduce rules into their terms and conditions which meant they could have you for fraud.
Someone needs to challenge these rules as it allows a bookie to cancel a bet if it wins, but keep the money it it loses.

There are far too many bookies on the high streets, unfortunately they are there to cater for the mug and there are far too many mugs out there which suits the bookies fine. If however they deem you not to be a mug, instant account restrictions, closing of accounts and threatening letters will follow.

I was there in the golden years when bookies first started to use the internet to allow betting online. Their systems were primitive at that time, value bets could be spotted a mile before they did and you could get on what you liked, but like anything else in life, good things come to an end!

Now I use my skills on betfair to back value bets and the odd trade, much more relaxed now these days my style but I do miss the cloak and dagger tactics emplyed by the bookies and myself to outbattle one another. But I would'nt give 1 penny to those fraudsters now!

That’s shocking Stocksfield, no wonder bookies make millions, they pick and choose the punters, I never gamble and I never would now after what you have said.

You should learn how to trade Jamie on Betfair, look at my example above in Raging Raj's race. 2 simple back bets and 2 simple lay bets produced a nice result.
