So the NATO leader is banging on about Russia's next target being Europe, surely a country who has struggled to take on and make much headway in Ukraine for the last couple of years would be keen on waging war against another 44 countries and convince their already beleaguered forces that it was a good idea, yes they may peck away at some of the countries who were formally under the Russian grip, also yes we know that some of those 44 countries would not want to get involved in a conflict but come on it's stretching it a bit to say they're capable of anything more than that?

The hostile intent seems to be there. Currently, as you say, they are hardly in a position to attack anyone but if the ceasefire happens, they'll need a year or two replensish then the balloon could easily go up. Also worth remembering that that they possess a large stockpile of nukes.

Talk of ‘war’ is stupid.
The Russian forces have fought abysmally…but it ‘s Russia’s nuclear Arsenal you worry about.

12 years ago no-one thought they would invade Crimea, or Georgia or have spies killing people in other countries. Hitler fooled people into saying he wanted peace and Putin is the same. Sometimes you just have to I wake up and fight for the right to party.

And sometimes you've got to accept you're not significant as a military forced in the world anymore and let the big dogs sort it out between them. Ukraine is a long way fromm the islands that are the UK and there's nothing of significance here for them to wage war over. Russia aren't even wanting to take all of Ukraine at the moment otherwise they'd be blitzing Kiev. Putin has said however that if the UK put military forces into Ukraine then the UK itself will be at war with Russia, so who'd be stupid enough to put us at risk for the sake of trying to look big on the world stage - step forward Starmer and the Stooge Show.

You sound like the lads who marched off to war in 1914 to ‘teach the hun a lesson’….that turned out well didn’t it…but bad as that was, nuclear weapons weren’t lurking in the background.
Principles are flexible if you want to survive,
We survived the Cold War..all 45 years ….by adopting Realpolitik…and just realising there are areas of interest for both parties that really are not worth chancing a nuclear war for….principles are useless against a thermo nuclear device…so stop beating the drum.

You can take that one back……what fool would welcome a nuclear conflict…?
If you’re that keen, pack your bags and go to Ukraine and beat the rush..we had a Cold War stand off….I recall no one wanting to shape up for a fight on either side…..your actual experience of conflict is…?

Wind yer neck in sunshine, none of us are a bunch of anything and there is no evidence of significant support for Reform, although there is significant evidence of Reform bashing.

We got involved in a war in Iraq and many lives were lost as a result, including on home soil due to the rise of terrorism which resulted.
Ditto Afghanistan.
Why be so stupid as to actively engage Russia? Putin has said putting UK armed forces into Ukraine would be deemed an act of war on Russia, so why take him on when presently he's no threat to us? Who among us would go to the Ukraine frontline tomorrow to fight, or send their kids or grandkids? Or doesn't it matter as long as it's strangers that die daily?
War is always a last resort option Jaw Jaw not War War is the best policy.
We are not appeasing anyone, we're not being invaded or attacked.

The idiotic error on this let’s go to war waffle is that our armed forces are on the bones of their collective arses with the lowest volume of kit from ships to aircraft to manpower.
After the fall of the Eastern block all Western powers cut their armed forces to the bone, thinking there would be no more major threats, my shower disappeared virtually overnight ( invading minor countries apart  ) and are now paying the price for 45 years of neglect.
If we are going to war, realise Field Marshall Toolmaker will be leading us and quickly decide it was a dumb idea from the outset.
Even Airfix soldiers would desert.

Yes imagine having this loser leading you into a war, a guy who gave away our fisherman's rights as well as being prepared to give away the Chagos Islands at a huge cost to the British taxpayer, the blokes negotiating skills are on a par with a 4 year old demanding an ice cream from the freezer.

True - but that is no excuse for the fact that we need to re-arm - and conscript - now.

Mutley doesn't drive. He powers a push bike to Olympic standard. His nickname is The Blur, now you see him now you don't.

War is pretty horrible but the hairy arsed russians would come badly unstuck against NATO. Thats as long as Putin doesn’t reach for a big red button of course.

I believe we already are at war and it started on Sep 11 2001. Since then Islamist attacks have spread across the world and we have recently seen a large Muslim army invade Europe. Does anyone believe that no weapons have accompanied these hoards? It’s a question of when not if these masses of sleeper cells are activated.

This Ukraine thing has been truly awful, but UK politicians banging on about Russia coming after us - really?

If this was really serious, if they were serious, then why don't we immediately shut down unnecessary gov spending and instantly beef up our armed forces.

No? Hmmmm......

I’d prefer it if they didn’t ‘smuggle’ things like TB into the country……it’s also a handy route for drugs as well.

If Ukraine had nuclear weapons they wouldn't have been attacked. If they join Nato they have the backing of nuclear weapons and that is why Putin doesn't want them in Nato in my opinion.

Chamberlain's strategy of appeasement is treated unfairly. He used it to buy time for Britain to rearm as Germany, Italy and Japan had massively increased their militaries and he knew a quick step into war for Britain would be disastrous.

Back to reality for a second. Whether it be WW1, WW2, Korea, Aden, Suez, Falklands, NI, Iraq or Afghanistan. Time and time again the young men of this country have stood up and been counted. Should it come to it, it would be no different against the Ruskies.

No, he negotiated to give us time to at least start re-armament …but after Czechoslovakia was invaded he had to face facts..but even back in those days the Tory’s were never keen on spending on defence.
Poland was the final straw.
You’ll find he declared war on the Germans, which disappointed Hitler immensely and who blamed Ribbentrop for giving him bad advice…..which the buffoon did…thankfully.

You need to get onto BBC HYS, there are dozens of your ilk and lots of big and brave ex-military service people who have been advocating starting a war with Russia for years. I wonder just how many of these talk the talking blaggards would actually volunteer to sacrifice their lives for this once proud and united nation that is currently divided as never before.

Great post Accrington, I ain't no Putin supporter and certainly don't condone the Russian invasion. However, neither have I bought the UK Government's (regardless of colour or creed) hard sell of convincing us all that Ukraine is a noble, innocent little sovereign state that is well worthy of the UK pumping £billions into preserving Zelensky's status that could and should have been spent in an attempt to preserve the NHS from descending into it's current, embarrassing mess.

Great post Accrington, I ain't no Putin supporter and certainly don't condone the Russian invasion. However, neither have I bought the UK Government's (regardless of colour or creed) hard sell of convincing us all that Ukraine is a noble, innocent little sovereign state that is well worthy of the UK pumping £billions into preserving Zelensky's status that could and should have been spent in an attempt to preserve the NHS from descending into it's current, embarrassing mess.

its just the same as it once was with israel and all there wars. until the last one the government, media and the bigger proportion of the population were in full support of them against any arab nation. if you did not conform you were hit with the anti semite lable.
