Xmas angels in Pool’s shirts…?

The wife has been putting decorations up and out came these two…she bought two angels years ago and when she was out I painted them into a Pools strip and instead of going off on one she quite liked them…..no understanding women

Any way, what year was it and Merry Xmas.

I'll take a guess at circa 1992. My other shot was 2002 but then I changed me mind.

True…I like to read two or three biographies to get a cross section of opinion…one of those books is Hitler v Stalin…another ‘leader’…Mussolini’s was surprising in as much as he came across as a loser.
Most interesting is the Vichy French leadership, odd bunch buying time, but desperate to hang on in power of a sort.
Stalin came over as the scariest and most ruthless of the lot.
Franco was busy playing off one country over the other but determined to no get involved in the war…
History, fascinating.

They look quality Snowy- reckon you could make a few quid, painting retro kits on Angels- I'd have a pair.

I'm going to go mid nineties (circa '95/'96) Sure I was at Art College, when that kit was worn. I'm going to say that
Keith Houchen was manager, and that was the season after IOR built the new Town End Terrace and Cyril Knowles Stand.

I think it was 96ish….. the year we moved into our house.

big problem with history is knowing who wrote it as we have all seen since blm reared its ugly head. it can vary so much between the authors who might not actually believe what they are writing. Books are written to sell at the end of the day if there is an audiance around to read them.

That’s why it’s wise to read at least three books on the same topic as personal ‘prejudices’ come into play.

thing is plenty including me will not do that. lets say peter hitchens and ed millibrand wrote a long book on the same subject you,d read the one you expect to be closer to your own views just to underline them.

Read neither of them, don’t expect the full story of those at either end of the spectrum……that’s if Milliband can write.

Wasn't it Harold Hornsey who built the new Town End and Cyril Knowles stand?

Yes…went to the open day, lovely weather in 95 , took my youngest with me….she got hooked at five

…I think they were working on the Town End at the time.
His wife Betty opened it officially at a friendly with Newcastle …I think I could be wrong though :eusa-think:
