just lets follow on from last saturday but with earlier subs if needed. 2 wins out of 2 at home could go a long way to end the home form jinx. we could be in the play off positions with a win and southend get nothing at rochdale. well thats buggered things up. i wish i had not said that.

Me, super optimist, going for a 1-1 draw. Yeovil not a top notch team but they are better than Truro and Pools have drawn with six other average NL teams of a similiar quality to Yeovil.

i,d take that draw now, but feel fans of all the clubs above us would see it as 2 points dropped. are we frightened of success now and been dummed down so much all we expect is mediocrity.

Not so much frightened of success as cynical - a few too many encouraging runs have gone south very quickly in recent seasons (not to mention over the club's entire history).

That said, 4 wins and 3 draws in the last 7 games is close to play-off form. The last 2 league defeats - away to Carlisle and home to York - are nothing to get too upset about either. Thankfully, the FA Cup fiasco did no harm to Pools chances in this league.

Looking at our squad and the quality of the opposition Pools have faced this season I don't think we are in a false position in 8th. Featherstone has got the team playing for each other and believing they can do better - look at the way the players celebrated Miley's goal on the highlights if you doubt that. They will get better when McNally, Oliver and Charman are fit again.

If Raj was serious about getting big investors interested in Pools he'd give Feaths the job and the money to kick on by signing a couple more quality players. Big if.

I think we will win this by a couple of goals. I'm hoping Rochdale beat Southend so we will be in the play off places on Saturday evening

mentiomed a few weeks back about us looking miles away from those in the top 7. do not think thats the case anymore especially if we sign a couple of quality players who fit even on loan to the end of the season. what position were we in with challinor in our promotion season at the same time of the season we are at now. i,m sure things changed with the signing of armstrong.

We had won exactly the same amount of games as we had lost until we signed Armstrong. Rhys Oates was going to get loaned out at the time but everything seemed to click after Armstrong's arrival.

Pools were 8th, same as now, at the end of Novenber in 2020 but had only played 9 games because the season didn't start till October.
By the time Armstong joined us a few weeks later Pools had dropped to 14th, but Luke scored 2 on debut to beat Kings Lynn and we never looked back!

In my opinion we are a mediocre team. Just watch the highlights of some of York's games: they have quality all over the pitch and are streets ahead of us. Same with Carlisle and Forest Green. There are other teams who, while not being miles ahead are clearly better than us: Scunthorpe, Southend, Boreham Wood. Even if we sneaked into the play offs we wouln't have a chance. Yep, mediocre. With a bit of luck we may scrape a top ten finish. If we have yet another manager with all the change and uncertainty that brings we may even be in the bottom 10.

I take your point about better quality players in those teams but if we sneak into the playoffs its "game on"

Yep look at York last season, 90 odd points in 2nd place in the league but still in this division.
It's looking promising at the moment, but we are heading into a quite difficult run of games so we should have a better idea of where we're likely to be finishing in 5 or 6 weeks imo.

thats why its more important to win games against lesser clubs to give us confidence against clubs above us in the league.

Its certain we will get beat by Ansty Nomad though.

To be fair I thought we were well beaten by a better side yesterday. In general Yeovil's players were bigger, stronger, dirtier and a damned sight quicker than Pools.

No idea why they have been struggling and are on to their 4th manager - I suspect they'll go on to have a very good season.

As for Pools - we spent 90 minutes trying to play through them but apart from one great ball that Daly nearly scored from got nowhere. Francis and Brown made no impact on the game when they came on. Yeovil's two wide players were real speed merchants and that McCormick lad deserved his goal.

Dunno what happened with Francis at the end - I didn't stick around long enough to see it. He was on the wrong end of a few poor decisions from the ref, but nothing new there.

I saw a gagie running on the pitch from the town end and confronting some players during the punch up.

Yeovil's number 4 Williams gives Alex Reid a shove after the final whistle and everyone starts to pile in, with Francis the last one to arrive on the scene! If he gets a 3 match ban for whatever he does after that he's an idiot.

not surprised as flustrations were getting the better of a number of our players as the game went on. we actually started quite well passing the ball around with one or two touch football but once they scored we might have well all gone home. a day to forget. the match and the last 40 miles driven in rain that resembled a car wash at times with my engine warning light on for the last part of the journey. i,ll put money on it now we,ll be anstey next week as i will not be there to witness it.

are we the only fuckers still having to do that sort of crap.
