Jamie the financial guru turns a blind eye to the fact that prior to the GE the UK had the highest growth in the G7 countries. Or it was never reported on any of his favourite Red Flag streaming sites?

TBH PTID I turn a blind eye to any of your replies as most are incorrect and you never provide links to verify them just gleaned from far right MSM.outlet.
Do a bit of research on the net, ask the question, ‘How has Brexit Affected the UKs GDP’ oops I mentioned the B word again.

How about getting down from your high horse when it’d politics…..you turn a blind eye and deaf ear to anything the challenges your viewpoint, especially if it’s uncomfortable for you, or actually contradicts your own version of events.
Or …..your classic optional alternative of totally blanking or ignoring anything uncomfortable.

Jamie, every financial commentator said at the time if the GE that the UK had the highest growth of the G7 countries, do some unbiased research and you'll find I'm right. You could always back up your assertion with proof I'm wrong but you never do, you always revert to bringing something or someone else into the debate - hence you raising Brexit this time, if it's not Brexit it's Farage or his girlfriend, Trump, Truss, Johnson etc.
When Labour came to power Starmer said repeatedly that growth was his number 1 priority, yet in the budget growth was barely mentioned and there was scant measures to develop growth withing the budget itself. In fact when asked about growth yesterday his reply was that growth is forecast to jump a massive 50% - but when you're starting from a very low base of 1% then 1.5% is barely no rise at all.
As for turning a blind eye to my replies then it's strange you respond to most of them???
And, generally if I post something and later find I'm wrong I'll hold my hand up and admit it rather than try to steer the debate off onto a tangent.

Bills have to paid some how every government has ways of retrieving it from you it, the bottom line is it all adds up to the same figures.
Labour are not for the ‘poor’ who do you class as being poor ? According to Labour abolishing the 2 child benefit cap will remove 450000 children living in poverty by 2029/30.
I am not in favour of Family Allowance, Family allowances were introduced to address child poverty and low birth rates, support family budgets, and stimulate the post-war economy. If employers paid decent wages families would not require a top up.

Growth is so small it’s nearly immeasurable, we are talking percentage decimal points, what financial commentators do you listen to, MSM right wing media ones who discredit any other party. I listened to a prominent financial fella not a left wing looney who said by 2035 Brexit will have cost the U.K. £350 billion.

a couple of things there. actually what is child poverty. think its worked out on money coming in to a household rather than a kid living in poverty. there are people who can make a tenner go a long way whilst others just cannot or want to do. family allowance is fine, but why should every family in the country get it when there are thousands who do not and actually bank it for their little darlings for when they get older. same with mobility cars that should have a lower maximum price.

If you add Covid costs estimated at 300b for furlough plus Covid loans then he UK has been impacted by 1 trillion gbp. That is borrowing that has to be paid back. Millions of jobs were saved but we will face the cost way beyond our lifetime and. ALL Govts have to face this challenge. There are no cheap answers.

that would add up to less than 20 billion a year less what we,d have to pay into the eu coffers. could be worth every penny if only there was a party to run the country correctly. its not the leaving the eu thats shagged us but our own governments who never wanted it in the first place.

There are no cheap answers I would agree with you on that. BUT. The trick is to adopt the right answers. That then begs the question, do we trust this present government to find the right answers when the only consistency they have demonstrated since being elected is their consistent U Turns. I have heard all sorts of reactions to both budgets so far but i am still waiting for either of them to be described as "generally good or decent" The negative to that is emerging from all corners and categories. That is my concern and millions share that concern.

As for Covid, we maybe should have just got on as usual.
I know a few business owners who made a packet out of the scheme!!!
And they don't have to pay it back!
I cost the government exactly £0.00 during Covid, but will have to help pay it back!

Being a prominent financial fellow doesn't make him expert or even competent it just means he's noticeable, so too is Dianne Abbott though.

So now the OBR have published a letter sent to the Treasury saying there wasn't a black hole at all in the public finances there was a £4bn surplus.
So the tax rises are not to plug a fictional black hole they're 100% to raise welfare payments.
Who's lying Rachel or the OBR?

14 years of tory rule and black holes seem there only tactic. i,ll give em last years one but surely if the last budget worked they still would not have this one. or have they actually created one of there own.

So Reeves was deceiving everybody when stating she inherited a £22 billion black hole, as there was actually a £4 billion surplus making her deceit worth £26 billion. We now know the reason why no hard evidence was ever produced. The black hole scenario was made up fiction, just like their manifesto is beginning to look. She is surely guilty of lying to Parliament.

Funnily enough the amount she has just increased taxation by is £26 billion.

Surely this lot can't be allowed to continue.

And before anyone questions the OBR on this topic…the OBR also advised Truss against her mistake and she ignored them…result …disaster…..so I know who I believe.

is it just me, an ex bus driver more or less who has no private pension scheme, savings, expensive properties, shares who has always felt worse off after every labour budget going back to when harold wilson was PM than anything the tories ever dreamped up and telling me they are the party of the working man just because they have less mp,s who went to big public schools. the party for the immigrants and the workshy more likely.

They're as bad as the Tory's under Boris treating the country with contempt.
Apparently supporters are claiming she didn't lie to Parliament but she may have mislead them which isn't stackable.

The budget tax increases are all about increasing benefits and appeasing back-benchers, nothing to do with paying back COVID monies. There was a £4bn surplus before this budget and they knew it as we all now know it after the OBR released the letter they sent to the Treasury to tell them about it.
And this shite about "asking workers to pay a little extra" is complete bollocks, they're taking it there's no option out or waiting for a reply to her request for a bit more from us.
Reeves won't last long now and She's going to take Starmer down with her, she said today the PM knew of the surplus too they're a team - well as a team they're going to be relegated pretty soon. She won't need that Landlord Licence as she'll be evicting her tenants to move back home.

Chief Sec to PM on GMB today said "it's normal for governments to have around £30bn headroom in the economy, they inherited only £10bn" so where was last budgets black hole?
He then went on to say that the headroom before this budget was only £4bn, so Labour have spent £6bn more than they raised with record taxes last year and pledges not to come back for more. Nothing to do with COVID, Tory's, Truss, etc al that's £6bn down under Labour management.
We're back to Old Labour "money tree (tax payers)" economic policies but without Old Labour values or morals.
Governments of all parties are consistently becoming more corrupt than the previous one and taking us all for fools.

Saw Starmer’s press conference this morning…he gave a droning speech about how his family couldn’t afford the phone bil (cue onion to create tears)…but I couldn’t quite work out why he got so much applause from the crowd behind the gathering media …..turns out the conference was in Labour Party HQ with an audience of Labour party workers. Better sake than sorry….Oh dear, a sign of desperation.

Every awkward question, which meant all of them, was met with Starmer wandering off …..talking as though children were still being sent up chimneys and begging for food like some modern day Victorian philanthropist.
It was as clear as black paint at midnight in the fog…waffle….the end point was a welcome sight.

Are these figures provided from a Labour source ??

Not quite £300 billion, from the U.K. Gov. website £80 billion,
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/fina ... e-pandemic

This was just for the loans . Our total Govt debt is 2.5 trillion.

It was close anyway,i think i'll wait a few years when the real truth and costs come to light.

Bring back Purdah!

If we did we would not have all this crap and we could concentrate on Strictly.

Economic forecasts etc change day by day so decisions do to.

Before 1997 the Chancellor said nowt in the lead up to the budget so lets go back to that and we can back to the real important issues in life.

Purdah mean "keeping your gob shut"

We have a situation where all of the main politics reporters on the main TV channels are saying that they/ we were mislead by Reeves and Starmer - in effect, these guys are calling Reeves and Starmer liars - correct me if I'm wrong but I can't recall a situation where British politicians have been so clearly called out by the Press.

It ain’t going away, now the MSM have turned on them in a way I’ve never seen before, the games up.
Even the Labour apologists on the media are having a problem justifying things.
We live in interesting times.

They're now saying that they needed more money in the pot (headroom as they call it) to pay for unexpected and uncosted events not because there was a shortfall. So why didn't they tell us that?
And guess what was uncosted in the budget, increasing benefits and aboloshing the 2 child cap.
So of course Reeves has lied to us all, didn't she say last years budget would sort the deficit once and for all of this parliament, didn't they say taxes wouldn't go up again last year, didn't she go on TV a couple of weeks before the budget and tell us how bleak the economic situation is?
The trouble for Labour is that Starmer has had ample opportunity to sack her but always chooses to back her so if she goes he'll have to go. But who'd want the job right now given the current political landscape and May elections to come when they'll get decimated?
Lammy the latest to back-track against his stance about the right to jury trials, he was going ballistic when the Tory's suggested it.

I don't disagree, but why not just say that's what you're doing? Oh, I know, because it's spent on the uncosted in the budget figures for abolishing the 2 child benefit cap and other benefits.
So they're not banking the extra tax revenue they're giving it away, closing the gap between workers and shirkers (although in some instances increasing the gap between shirkers and workers). What's the point of working when you can claim all kinds of benefits for not working and knocking endless sprogs out? Dis-incentivising entrepreneurs and businesses together with workers and incentivising benefits claims is a hell of a way to run a country.

That's where they got it wrong. Under the Conservatives national debt increased from 1.6 trillion to 2.8 trillion. The real success of any budget is how the markets react.in this case the stock market is fine and more importantly the bond market has come down. That is economic stability and helps to lay the table for the future.Even the right wing Daily Telegraph acknowledged tbat.

Till next budget when unemployment is up, growth is down, more of the richest are leaving the country, and the only answer will be to hit the workers and businesses for more tax to maintain benefit levels.
Slowly driving the country down towards the 3rd World and we'll be the ones holding out the begging bowls.
