The number of people claiming jobless benefits without having to look for work stands at 4.03 million. It is the first time it has gone over 4 million. Meanwhile pay within the public sector is continuing to rise as private sector pay is stagnating. No wonder we are borrowing excessive amounts and have no money in the tin. Of course in a couple of weeks time we will all bear the brunt of this mis management. Another change for the worse.

Any views on who should pay for the children that folk decide to have?

You should be able to claim for not having any kids in my opinion, that keeps the crime , NHS queues and jobless figures etc down.

Pretty much agree Mr Blue - I was brought up to not buy things/ have kids until I could afford them - me, not some other losers.

The mis management and structure of the benefits systems has been going on for years where people can be better of not working, no government has ever made any real effort to curtail this maybe for the thought of losing votes.
Also why is possible 38% of Universal Credit claimants are in work which is a key benefit for people of working age in the UK, yes great that people are making the effort to work but why do we need to top up their salaries ?
Farage touched on the 16 hours a week culture where it benefits both the employer and employee through reducing tax and national insurance payments, yes some due to circumstances can only work limited hours for family reasons but others could work more hours but they would lose their benefits.

Unemployment in the younger generations is the biggest problem, you can send them to as many colleges universities etc you want but if there is no employment at the end they have wasted years and wracked up debt.
In the good old days when the U.K. had an engineering base their education/apprenticeships was in general taken care of by the companies, the only people who went to uni were those who wanted to pursue a profession.

Family Allowance costs the U.K. £12 billion a year, I will get slated for this but I think it should be abolished and a system put in place where your tax threshold is linked to the number of children you have, the more children the higher the threshold there more salary.

I think most sensible people realise whether they can afford kids or not and won’t be relying on Family Allowance to support them. That’s one of the reasons the birth rate is falling, the major of U.K. citizens have less than 2 kids nowadays, unfortunately our immigrant friends don’t believe in birth control or some the number of wives they can have.

if only you were totally right it would be fine. there are still many white lasses having many more than two in tow and seem to come from the poorest areas of towns. its not the kids fault they were born in the first place and can do nothing whatsoever to alter the situation until they go to work themselves. you will hear the usual stories now about them all having sky etc and the kids obtaining better christmas presents that working families cannot afford. how much truth there is in all this is very debateable.

There are 723000 job vacancies in the U.K. an increase of 2000 in the last 3 months, is no one at the Job Centre matching up the vacancies against the unemployed ?

Surely a solution to this is to import labour from overseas to fill these important vacancies to keep the economy going.

No……I was asked to stay on after retirement by a former employer, they appeal in a way to your conscience, but eventually the tax system made it a pointless exercise.

its something thats been going on for years. for me it shows that every new generation that comes up is worse than the previous ones at working.
