Sounds like Oliver will be out for some time and Charman is doubtful, therefore scoring will be a problem. I am going for a 1-0 win for the Shaymen.

I'm going for a 1-0 pools win probably og.
450 pools fans looking for some desperate glimmer of enjoyment
in a team lacking in skill. Halifax a team similar to Pools with not much going
for them off field with strong rumours that their ground is up for sale.
For those who enjoy a beer or two there's a dark beer festival on at the Victoria
craft ale house which is behind the Victoria Theatre which can be found walking up the
hill directly as you come out of the train station ( about 5 mins walk).

True, but he is just back from an injury that kept him out for a month or more so he wont be at his sharpest. I honestly cant see us troubling their defence.

What on earth happened to the team that briefly topped the table earlier in the season?
I believe it was a mistake to sack SG! It will be nothing short of a miracle for Fevs to conjure up a win imho so a goalless draw would be my best hope. However hope rarely comes good so:-

2-0 home win

Just a heads up the nearest pub to the away turnstiles is The Three Pigeons which is about a
3 minute walk from the away turnstiles. It's a family friendly pub selling hand pulled ales and
lagers plus a good range of locally sourced pies and pasties.

I'm expecting the real ale and pies to be the highlights of a disappointing away day.

It’s got to the point where lethargy, indifference and the prospect of another season lost, indices a can’t be arsed approach to matches……expecting nothing and being proved right is not good…so you end up indifferent and disappointed yet again.

For some reason I can’t explain …the ‘Union’ of 0-0 and positives, just doesn’t sit well together.

We'll set up for a goal less draw with lots of tippy happy shite getting nowhere fast until they make a breakthrough when well then go long ball with the usual effect. A comfortable 2-0 to them. Fev will then go on to explain our sides tiredness, how Halifax are in a false position, and his lack of understanding as to why the players don't follow instructions, etc etc - remarkably there'll still be some clamouring for him to get the job permanently!
Sincerely hope this turns out to be completely wrong but I reckon the bookies have got it wrong and Halifax are a good bet at the odds they're offering.

no i,m not even though its only a 10 mile journey for me. tuesday did it for me and i,m not going to use the easy excuse of having a stinking head cold not to turn up. i have dragged myself to games in the past feeling much worse but then win or lose you knew the match would take your mind off it.

Clamouring?  Can't remember a single person on here saying Featherstone should get the job! He's an interim appointment, a stop gap. He's holding the fort - like Tony Sweeney did several times, and to about the same effect.

His results so far aren't quite as bad as you're making them out to be but they don't amount to an upturn in Pools' fortunes either.

The club's communications on the recruitment process are well up to present standards - they are saying fuck all - but at some point a decision will be dropped on us.

Probably be a complete nonentity like this Dickman bloke nobody knows anything about. What it won't be is someone who tells Raj he's not touching the job without a 2 year contract and a decent budget for new players.

know football is a results industry but at times i,d like to step back a little from that and became more interested in how the results are actually achieved. we all want to win games but not at the expense of seeing a decent game of football. nowt wrong watching a decent pools performance only to be beaten by a better team on the day as long as we do the same to others. what we are seeing is non football for me.

Well judging by his remarks about Morecombe, Halifax must look like Barca to Fevs.

To be fair to Fev- he has been taking advice off Mr Burns- so should we be surprised at what has been said?
A half decent team away from home- we'll obviously be lucky to get nil - and 'we take the positives!'

Usually I like joining in the speculation on who the new manager will be but I can't really be arsed. Whoever he is he will need to be a miracle worker to ensure anything other than a short stay. I can't really understand why anybody would be keen to get the job, unless his motive was to get three years pay for three months work. That makes it a desirable job.

Halifax are usually there or there abouts regarding the playoffs, So sums up Fevs remarks.
Coaches nowadays all say the same things, Boring like the football.
More interested in how far a player has run.

His loan has been extended till January. If Pools can't keep him after that Cartwright might be fit again by then ;)

Fairly dour game to be honest with little attacking threat .
But cannot knock the endeavour and defending today.
Referee gave too many decisions against pools in my opinion with
Halifax players going to ground at any opportunity, the should be called
the molemen not the shaymen. Shout-out to the travelling fans who were
in great voice throughout the game.

Nah the Benn and Miley bookings weren't even free kicks imo and the penalty looked dodgy although it was on the far side of the pitch from us

Are we allowed to sign a player on loan for a second time in the same season? What are the rules?
The other issue is that logic would suggest he would likely prefer to go to a FL club if he did regain fitness.

Happy to be educated on this matter.

Well we did set up as predicted and it worked, but a hard watch with not a lot of goalmouth action at either end.
Well done to Fev and the team and a very welcome 3 points.
Now looking forward we've got to find a way to get someone closer to Reid who is definitely not the answer as lone striker, good to see him back again but he can't play with his back to goal and was knackered by 70 mins.
Campbell, Kougun, John and Miley best outfield players for us and Evans was very good too very good on crosses, what looked an easyish penalty save and a good save late on.
Great rapport between fans and players at the end, hope it spurs some of them on in future matches.

Yep some fixtures which in theory look easier coming up, we need to be a bit bolder and creative especially at home.

Fev has been in charge for four league games and, like he says, we have amassed eight points or an average of two points per game, in actual fact it could have been better. That is very good stats in anybody's book. I suspect he will continue with the current set ups and tactics, whilst gradually infusing a more attacking mode as confidence grows. I would be happier to see Oliver fit again but it seems that is not an immediate probability so we have to get someone in to play alongside Reid. I suspect recruitment of players and/or loans will be on the back burner until a permanent ( yes I know) manager is appointed. If I was Fev I would identify someone to fit the bill alongside Reid and request we pursued him. That would give Fev an idea whether his judgement was going to be backed or whether, if he got the job, he was going to have the same problem as the other bunch of managers preceding him.

Tactics worked well today, In fact very well.
The shape rarely changed, Glimpses of very good football.

Would like to see ball up to Reid dropped short, Instead of chest/head height constantly.
Hunter went about his business quietly and confidently.
Campbell showing up and putting a full shift in.

The transformation in Campbell is welcome and we can safely put that down to Fev. I wonder if Fev was bringing his thoughts on Campbell to the attention of others within the coaching set up and was being ignored.
If this transformation carries on and even improves then it will be like signing a new player and a really good one.
I'm all for that.

It was a game of two not so clinical sides.

Halifax's number 9, 11, 31 and number 8 were diving all over the place, and the referee failed to cut it out. The referee would have done himself a favour to card a few of them and stamp it out. I felt sorry for Halifax fans as it must have been embarrassing for them, and they are not representative of the gritty Northern town Halifax is, who I quite like. It reminded me a bit of our Sarll days.

I've just seen Halifax's penalty and it was never a pen.

We defended well but seemed lost in the final third.

At the end of the day it was a great win . Again as said many times . You can’t fault the effort ! Pleased that Charman has found some confidence . However , imo we can’t make the play offs playing in that style every week . Having players behind the ball and playing a low press is ok against the better teams but is mentally and physically challenging . Especially with a small squad . The other week for 20 mins played with a high press which was very positive . My only criticism and others have mentioned it too that players need to put their heads up before crossing in the box . Just those extra seconds could help our goal ratio. We need 6 players running into the box which includes our midfielders . Top teams do this . Yes it puts pressure on the defence but ours are brilliant . Reid was isolated on Saturday and needs support . On the positive side some of out football particularly the passing was exhilarating on Saturday . Just want Feathers to get the lads to be more proactive in the box. So to sum up
1. Get more players in the box
2. Look up more, set pieces
3. Hustle and bustle in the box , we are doing this more . As I said it’s just small things. Can’t fault the effort and the travelling fans . You were heard .

We defended well but seemed lost in the final third.

watched the recording of the full game yesterday. actually thought the ref handled the game quite well and did not fall for the halifax falling down tactics. they were not diving about but just falling over making a meal of challenges. very little he cpuld have done about in that are in the laws of the game but ignore them. the camera angle for the penalty was better than pools fans had at the opposite end of the ground and contact was made. although saying that we have had similar shouts turned down in other games. seems another world ftom me being a kid and seeing pools get a good kicking there which seemed to happen on a regular basis. just wish i could turn the clock back and i was going to school this morning amongst the buggers.

Neither the Benn or Miley cards were even fouls let alone cards, yes there was contact for the pen but arguably not deliberate or even a foul and was it even in the box? Officials at this level, actually across the English game, are Fecking horrendous and getting worse imo. Justice was definitely done when the penalty was saved.
