Parked before the game on Saturday in the streets around where the Odeon used to be and was shocked to see how much rubbish and litter there was even since the last time I parked there, there was an electrical unit on a path between someones garden fence which had bagfuls of rubbish just stuffed behind it, litter all over the streets in every nook and cranny you looked at, wasteland covered in litter of every description. Really sad to see just how far standards have sunk. Where has people's sense of cleanliness gone?

I'm only home once a year nowadays and every year it's worse than the last. Everything.

(and wasn't exactly Monaco when I was a nipper).

It's on my regular walk up to the ground. There's an area of grass behind a bus stop that is unbelievably squalid. Terrible that kids have to grow up in that environment. The council needs to take its share of blame - it looks like they've given up on the neighbourhood too. Thank God only the home fans see it.

I'd blame austerity and the Tories and 14 years of fucking cuts...you'd blame Labour. I once thought you were 'alright'.

The Labour Prime Minister is a Knight of the realm. That's like having your shop steward in a factory 40 years ago being the pampered son of the owner of the factory. The Tories are shite too - but at least they are what they are and they don't pretend to be a working class party.

In the 80's when I was doing A level 20th century history my teacher told the class that proportional representation was the most just way to govern in a democratic system but that it would never happen in the UK because the two main parties would never cede power. So we're stuck with rubbish democracy. And it's the same in the USA. You haven't really got a choice. You've got two choices and they're both dismal.

government policies have sod all to do with people being lazy and blind to problems like litter. once there was excuses like where are the bins. its actually got worse everywhere since bins appeared. basically people have no pride in themselves never mind the areas they live in. we are a load of scruffy uncaring gits bar the odd few totally opposite to when i was a kid where we were more clean ans smart playing out than most of todays lot are. at least most of us oldies make an effot in all ways.

Some people have pride in their town. There are dozens of volunteers out every day collecting litter. They deserve our thanks.

Look at how they keep their houses tells you all you need to know….it’s a depressing prospect…I’m not blaming the Labour Council who’ve been in power for most of the time or any political party…it’s the people who live there, it’s their neighbourhood..,it reflects on them.

Volunteers from the Hartlepool big town tidy up operate in many areas but it tends to be the more affluent suburbs. The more deprived areas are in a bad shape and the council needs to do more. However from what i see most rubbish is dropped by 12-30 year olds............................. the skools need to do something like send the "students" out to pick up their crap.

i,d say club 18 to 35 with takeway wrappers and empty cups thrown out of cars when they are parked up somewhere. its the case in my neck of the woods after the weekend up the moor car parks.

When I was a kid, not long after the second World war and during rationing, people didn't have much but what they did have they looked after and kept clean. As me Grannie used to say soapy water doesn't break the bank. A hole in yer sock got darned, clothes were passed down through the family and the only entertainment "luxury" was a wireless.
These days the so called poor families expect to be given everything by the state and have no intention of giving anything in return. Not all of them but a decent proportion.
We were taught standards of behaviour and responsibility and most of us still apply those standards to this day.

One time you could be fined for things like this but we’ve become a country where no one enforces any rules….I once was stood at a light controlled crossing in Germany…people stood on either side of the road waiting to cross when the traffic had long gone ..so nothing coming I walked across, the looks and comments I got for breaking the rules was surprising….we enforce nothing and therefore have a sloppy society.

but we are really good in putting up signs threatening people for almost everything. only thing that seems to get enforced is staying a few minutes longer in a parking spot or speeding in off peak hours.

One of the worst advents in the modern world is mobile phones, why didn’t they keep them simple things for making calls instead of turning them into mini computers ?

unlike many inventions previously that helped out lives an made them better. you could live without them but it would be more boring without them. do not have a mobile phone and cannot see how my life would be better with one. possibly the only invention where people buy and know on purchase they can manage well without it but do not want to feel the odd man out.

if your server find that out you might have to look for a new one. you are not doing whats required of you by not gambling on line and buying stuff you do not need. come on pal play the game of making the rich even richer and turn your lights, heating and water on as well.
