sounds as if we picked up a few knocks yesterday and worry what our team might look like. given a full squad to pick from they could be there for the taking. certainly not the team they were.

Remember that we are not the team we were either, currently not even the team that finished reasonably strongly under Skippy (wonder what he's up to at present?) ie before we stupidly allowed proven strikers and midfielders to leave for sweet FA.

Having said that I think we will actually manage to open the scoring before the Heed notch a couple of late goals. 2-1 to the Heed.

they left because they wanted to and we got FA because their contracts were up. bribing players by upping their wages will never work as they are only be here for the money and nothing else. this is the downfall of many bankrolled clubs where its only good when they are winning.

Ah, bribery? So that's how the top NL clubs retain their players! Nothing to to with their owners and backroom staff running their clubs in a professional manner ensuring that their key players are retained ie contracts are negotiated and renewed well in advance of expiry. How did our club ever survive almost 100 years in the Football League and almost reach the 2nd echelon of English football?

The difference is that the club is currently being run on a tinpot, amateur basis, week by week, month by month - in the shade by the likes of Brackley, Boredom Wood and doubtless Gateshead- with a fan base that wouldn't fill a decent sized train next up.

Players come and go regardless of if their clubs want to keep them, I think 3 or 4 of our new arrivals were offered new deals by their previous clubs. Mani came to us for more money, he's left probably for more money, and when his contract at Rochdale ends he'll go to the highest bidder again. That's how football works at every level. Newcastle couldn't keep hold of a player who had nearly 3 years of a contract left to run.
Not saying the club is well run, but players leaving a club at the end of a contract doesn't make the club a badly run one.
And btw Mani wouldn't be scoring many for us this season the way we play, imo.

Expect Larry will go full on defensive mode and hope that we can somehow snatch a goal from somewhere. He's a negative manager who would rather keep a clean sheet than risk going all out for goals.
Gateshead 1 Pools 0

Good teams can attack and defend well.

We clearly not good enough to do both which means anutha shit season.
We still win at Gateshead but that won't change the seasons outcome.

But some will dream of good loanies getting us flying up the table from January.

I think banned Billy called it bang on after the friendlie game he attended.

But it's not about being right or wrong.

Id like to think 99% of our fanbase expect different to what we get now.
We now consistently struggle in division 5.
The owners ambition is that bad now getting anywhere near the top 7 is now like qualifying for the Champions League.

It's getting embarrassing :angry-tappingfoot:

"Banned Billy" is only missing for a month, so he'll be back before you can say "Tommy Robinson". You can then wallow in his continuous predictions of how shite we are. What he, or you, or anyone else can't do is to use this forum to engage in potentially libel attacks on the owner of our wonderful football club, thus putting the forum, it's owner and it's fellow members in the firing line. A firing line that could see the forum closed down and it's owner thrust into financial ruin.
As for freedom of speech, does it exist, has it ever existed. In your fantasy imagination it does but in the real world it only exists with it's myriad of reservations, one of which is the threat of litigation.

Ah so you're a great believer in free speech and difference of opinion, unless of course you disagree with it or it doesn't suit your take on things.
I became a mod around six years ago and you're still here. If you don't like it you can ban yourself, nobody is forcing you to either read the forum or post on it.
Whoever is Mod on here will have to protect it and prevent the board from being litigated against or couldn't you care less if Mr I is threatened with libel action which could end up costing him north of a hundred grand. What sort of person does that make you.
You boycott the club you purport to support because of the guy running it, so if you can't handle the fact that measures have to be taken to prevent our letter box being filled with threatening letters, why don't you just boycott the forum. You don't need me to do it. It's your stock reply lately. Do it yourself.

ypu only need to look at the number of sackings in our league this season to see how much owners and fans wish to get out of this league as quickly as possible. do feel bing annoyed by the league we are in is in our heads as much as reality. a crap game against brackley is no worse than one in the EFL and our last relegation season was worse than anything that came later. we had our chance and blew it. who is to say it will not happen again under a new owner.

Correct Snowy, the train hasn't departed as yet but the next few weeks will determine whether it's just delayed awaiting additional train crew or it's derailed altogether.

A bloke in Egypt has this week been reunited with his family after 12years of incarceration.
His crime was going on a Protest march and allegedly striking a police officer, A very slippery slope WE are now entering.

Belated highlights from the Aldershot game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl8fvrKK_Gc

Charman looks like he's due a goal, Reid looks like his confidence is rock bottom and he'll never score again. I'd take a deflected shot going in tonight from either of them - like the one Aldershot got on Saturday. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of luck.

Because due to people complaining over time about what other people say or the words they use which are now frowned upon we have to be careful what we say. If we don't we get jumped on. A bit like when someone criticises a non white that person gets called racist, or far right or whatever
This board and it's owner is under threat of litigation for no other reason than allowing so called freedom of speech.
Just like you jump up and down if you read a comment that you think is racist.
It's just not worth the risk and we have to keep plugging that notion until the risk is passed, if it will ever pass. Personally I don't think it will.
I'm using it as an example to get it through to people that freedom of speech is limited and the potential consequences of ignoring that.
I am the first to scream foul when freedom of speech is watered down and firmly believe in the concept but I also recognise that there are limits to be adhered to and red lines that can't be crossed.
Where libel comes in is where people say something that offends someone else to the point where they threaten to resort to litigation. Not only do they put themselves in the firing line but drag others in as well for allowing it.
By stopping anything that potentially could put us in an uncompromising situation we are actually looking after the backs of each and every one of you, as well as the owner who provides you with the forum.
Funny times Muttley, funny times.

still find it difficult even if a comment offends someone for them to be allowed to do anything about it id its the truth, the whole truth and can be backed up by others. problem is too many half truths and rumours go around based on very little evidence.

To get a libel case to a court and then succeed you'd need to prove that the statement at issue is false, as in entirely untrue. There are a few other crucial aspects/evidential requirements as well I think. The truth bit is key, so talking any old twaddle, just cos you like the sound of it or whatever is a risk for many, many people in the digital age.

Always verify anything before ‘putting pen to paper’….mind you, you can always ask a question to the person in question direct, which isn’t easy..

So why the talk about 'libel' etc?? sctatchinghead

Funny times Muttley, funny times.

well a welcome 3 points last night even if we made hard work of a really poor gateshead side. do not know what it was like watching live but as the commontators said it was a nice game without any real bite i like to see. Thing everyone in a pools shirt had decent games even if they themselves will not remember it for long.

A very worthy 3pts.
Now lets not get carried away, 3-4 goals would have been more like it but 3pts is 3pts.
Gateshead on that showing will struggle and possible will be relegated.

We have the potential to reach the POs, But imo we still need strengthening, Cb,Cm, And the way Cartwright is playing he may be shifted (hope not) in January.

We beat a very poor Gateshead team by one goal having had the chances to score a lot more. Our forwards dont look like scoring and watching the Vlog footage, cows arses and banjos come to mind with all those shots over the bar and wide of posts. Yes we dont concede many but there needs to be changes up front if we really have ambitions of reaching the play offs. Tamworth on Saturday will defend like their lives depend on it, so Pools wont be winning.

we could only score one in such an open game, but the problem is we have to rely on our defence as we have no goal threat from midfield or real creative mid field players. even francis who is good to watch has not exactly created much for others ot himself for that matter.
