Just watched his interview this morning . I thought his analysis was on the money, honest, pragmatic and forthright . Come across as quite an intelligent guy who is used to being in situations like this. Basically said what we all have been saying in that most of the players lacking confidence, playing too rushed . Hitting the ball straight to the keeper set pieces. Too rushed in the box, taking 2 or 3 steps when only one is needed, poor passing, crosses . He realises that we need to move the ball quicker but if you have no confidence you just need to move the ball and keep it simple . In other words getting back to basics . He said he needs about 8 weeks to try and sort stuff out because it’s such a large task . This is now where managers like wild earn their money on the training going all the way back to basics and doing the simple things first . Good luck to the guy . Not blaming him for yesterday’s performance at all. He also said we needed 4 players at the back and of course nobody in the centre. At least he saw what we see every week. I take no pleasure in criticising the team but am very interested in how the team plays in 1 week in a tough fixture. Thoughts lads

He’s right.
We need to be patient for the bloke, ther’s no overnight fixes proving this reign of the ‘committee has Ben a staggering failure…. because you firstly have to ask how this incompetence has been allowed go fester for so long without any sign if improvement over the past couple of months which in reality has actually been allowed to get worse rather than better.
There’s no easy option here…turning the ship around will take time and new faces to stop the rot, how they managed to turn glorious optimism into embarassing defeat and retreat beggars belief…yesterday was like watching a game on the rec without the determination or commitment………we need a clear out.

Good luck too Pete Wild, hopefully his hands haven’t been tied behind his back by Bromby & Co although I doubt he would have taken job. The mere fact he was allowed to bring in Dave Conlon who would probably have commanded a substantial salary at Stockport indicates he has a free hand, let’s hope he can recruit a couple of players.

we had a clear out and look what happened. it was like pools of old who signed replacements no better and in some cases worse than the ones they got rid of. the ones who if they got clubs they were of a lesser standard than pools. wild will need the time he needs which with some luck will coincide with the injured players coming back. we might need a clear out but feel we are stuck with this lot as we,d have to pay there contract up as who would really take some of them. basildon bondo comes first to mind.

I dont think we need a clear out. Definitely need a dynamic midfielder or two but the majority of the team are capable players but are badly lacking in confidence which will come back if we can get some good results over the next few weeks. I think we all know that confidence is a key factor in football which is why an average team can beat a better team. Tamworth were not world beaters but they stuck to a game plan and had zero pressure on them. Pools had the weight of expectation which they just couldnt handle. This is often the case at The Vic. When the players go over to the North West Corner after a win (only had three wins) it is as much in relief as it is in celebration. Like everyone else, I'm hoping that Willd will keep things simple and gradually build confidence which will arise from decent performances and improving results. This wont happen over night.

Edit: Only had TWO wins at the Vic not THREE.

talking about the 3 wins, unless i am mistaken that was the same number as we had last season after the first game in october. therefore the main difference in this season to last was the drawn games we had regularly.

Actually I am wrong: we have only won two games at the Vic this season and lost Four. The point I was making was that despite all the optimism and expectation, we have only won two NL games at the Vic this season so confidence is at rock bottom. Yes no draws home or away. A pretty miserable cata logue.

Last season P12 W4 D6 L2 Pts18 versus my expected haul of 18.01

This season P12 W3 D0 L9 Pts9 versus my expected 17.08

Pools had a decent away record last season and matched what I thought they would do at home.

With the current crop of players, the new manager will have to work miracles because if he doesn't Pools are falling rapidly into even further non league oblivion!

It's not all about players underperforming - or in some cases not performing at all, nor is it all about introducing new players - although failure to bring in at least one decent midfielder over the next six weeks should be regarded as being absolutely criminal. Tactics - or lack of them - are as big a problem as anything. For example how many free kicks and corner kicks were harmlessly floated into the six yard box only to be plucked out of the air by the grateful Tamworth goalkeeper? It was actually becoming embarrassing as we moved into injury time. You would think that one or two of the multitude of coaches squeezing onto the bench like it was an NHS doctors surgery would make some suggestions to PW as how to vary this ineffective tactic. Also, although I appreciate that we seemingly don't have a long throw 'expert' within the squad at present is it not possible for one or two players to practice developing this useful tactic that each and every team visiting the Vic seems to utilise?

I’m not advocating some mass eviction of players…but if you’re not good enough…?
And I’m not just referring to players either….make of that what you think it is.

Well they’d better get over any self pity, pull themselves together and do what they’re paid to do..it’s a football club, not a twilight home for for the can’t be arsed..

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we still have a small number of players on loan to local clubs who could maybe do a better job than some of the more ineffective players who are seemingly well ensconced in the first team?

We've got Foreman and Donaldson out on loan at Hepburn and if they're both worse than Bondo they might as well give up their pro football careers.

Terry Bondo is only 19 and made his senior debut for Blackpool just two years ago. After that he's been loaned out until Pools signed him from National league North with 4 goals in 17 appearances last season.

So the geniuses up in the Pools offices have signed a lad who's basically just as young and inexperienced as the two lads we've got loaned out to Hebburn Town (who are both very promising young players) and plonked him straight into the first team - probably because his agent sent a well edited reel in. You couldn't make this level of incompetence up.

Mind - in Bondo's defence Harry Kane would look useless playing with the service our centre forwards have had so far this season.

Regardless of the poor service Bondo has shown zero potential in his appearances to date and should be nowhere near our 1st team. He needs to be sent out on loan to get regular game time at a lower level, continuing to throw him into the NL mix will do nothing but destroy whatever career he potentially has.

He’s far from the finished product and exposing him to playing at this level will damage the lads confidence, I don’t blame the player but the amateur who brought him in based on what exactly, in depth analysis or points on their check list without actually viewing him play….?

It seems as if they've recruited along the lines of a novice fantasy football participant, spent all the budget quickly on forwards Harris, Nolan, Hughill, and left to scrape the barrel for the rest, even Merrick was a last minute arrival and obviously not 1st choice.

why single him out. he is not the only crap signing made during the summer. its typical pools as we have seen before who loan out kids out and bring in ones of the same age from efl clubs that are actually worse than ours are. at least your own kids look interested and put some effort in.

I thought Hugill would destroy division 5 defences given his cv.
But it's clear to see his fitness levels aren't nowhere near good enough even for this division.
Reminds me of Harewood.
As for Bondo that backwards header in the Altrincham penalty area was an early warning sign that he ain't Gunna make it in the game.

A recruitment totally based on trying to outscore the opposition.
Without thinking oh we forgot about they need decent service.

22nd aren't we.

Makes Fevs cv look not to bad now and that was without the let's have fun backing.

We can all have different opinions and hindsight but the league table tells it exactly how it is.

Jordan Hugill was a brilliant loan signing by Ronnie Moore in 2015 when Pools pulled off the Great Escape. Scored 4 goals in 8 games.

The version of Jordan Hugill we have now spends most of his time backing into defenders then falling over expecting a free kick. Trouble is, most refs have his number and either wave play on or give a free kick against him...

Pools never seem to get it right when they sign overage players. Hugill is just the latest, very expensive example of that.

or is it the players themselves who see pools as a rest home for a season before they have to go into the real world and do a proper job. again none of us expected him to be as bas as he has been or any of the other vintage rejects we signed in the past. if they still could do a job they,d be doing it in the league still.

Thing is, the people we say that about generally don't retire from football straight after Pools.

Take Brad Walker - he's at Darlo now playing as a centre-back and pretty much an ever-present for them. They might be a really bad side but he's not 'stealing a wage' if their manager is playing him every week.

It's more the case that Pools persistently overrate players whose careers are on the slide.

But pools can’t consistently overrate players because that would mean all the managers since Challinor thought exactly alike.

As for Brad Walker..depends on how bad the rest of the players at Darlo are, because he was no great shakes.

Not every manager since Challinor has signed has-beens, it just feels that way after Grayson and Clark/Beech. Younger managers like Phillips, Limbrick and Feaths didn't.

take danny johnson as well. both had to drop a league to get another contract after pools. when they cannot do that with there new clubs they,ll keep dropping a division because somebody will sign them because of there name.
