This year some pre season friendlies have been decided on penalties. Does anyone know why? Could it be a trial for league matches giving the winning team an extra point? Any ideas.

Is it not just to give the players a change to take penalties in a closer environment to what they will experience in a proper game rather than just practicing on the training pitch?

could see that happening as they love to change things. really hope not as it will create even more drawn games and negative football when teams know they have a chance with a penalty shootout.
