That defence last night would have embarrassed the Pools team of recent years.

Brazil were only ticking over too.

In their defence Brazil are ranked 6th in the rankings Scotland 40th, they were probably fortunate to keep it at 3.

They’ve still got a reasonable chance of going through. Commentators last night were talking like those below the Jocks in that 3rd place group were guaranteed wins. The other teams are low in that group for a reason and one or two of those above the sweatiest may well get a hammering in their game.

England are ranked 4th in the world and Ghana 65th.

Defenders being coached to play out from the back is asking for trouble.
If they were any good at playing they would be forwards.
Giving Brazil a early goal was asking for trouble and they were lucky to concede only 3.

When the Jocks go out they'll revert to their default position - supporting any team that England plays.

As it happens, I think their race is run. 3 points and a -3 goal difference won't make the cut.

Not all Scots, but a sizeable percentage are born with that chip on the shoulder birth defect that screams resentment.
I can’t work it out and have given up trying.

if it does not then it shows what a farce this competition actually is. its like reaching the play offs by losing two thirds of your games.

possibly its because for years england teams get more publicity up in scotland than the scottish ones get in england. its like watching the local news and some places seem to get more air time than others especially in sport.

I suspect the thing that really winds up the militant Scots and Taffs is the numbers..

England 56.5 million
Scots. 5.5 million
Taffs. 3.2 million.
NI. 1.9 million.

Little man syndrome.

After much consideration over the years I've come to the conclusion that only a small minority of Scotch have a chip on their shoulder........

.......... The remaining vast majority of sweaties have a chip on BOTH shoulders- keeps them balanced! :P

The minority that hate England and the minority that support SNP & want independence are pretty much the same vocal subset. They aren’t happy with their lot in life and want someone to blame it on rather than take responsibility of it themselves, so blame the English. That hatred just transfers to football teams too.

As Accrington says, it’s not helped by the media coverage, England and English teams get more coverage even in Scotland than the Scottish teams. And the English media banging on about 1966 and getting overexcited and declaring that “This could be the year” after we win our first group game against Timbuktoo all adds to it.

But for the rest of the Scots, they think of England pretty much the same way we think of Newcastle or Middlesbrough. Don’t really care too much unless we are playing them. But you don’t really hear about that, as it’s not as much of a story as the “Anyone but England” brigade

Too many of them watched Braveheart thinking it was true the majority of it filmed in Ireland, Wallace played by a yank with a phoney accent and I suspect the jocks didn’t paint their faces with a blue cross.

What pisses me off, is the fact they get vastly more money per capita head (through the Barnett formula) than the north east does- and STILL they moan, it's not enough.

I'd happily let them have independence BUT if that's what they want- they can't use the Pound, they'll have to sort out their own currency- maybe the Groat! They can also have their share of the national debt too, before they go.

I would suggest if they are to.be ruled by the SNP - that they keep a check on the personal bank accounts of those in the top jobs- given what wee Jimmy Krankie got away with- before throwing her husband under the Campervan!

I’ve seen their moaning with my own eyes as I used to go up on the mountains a lot, 6 times in one year alone. They can be a churlish moaning set of fuckers, some of the b n b places seem to offer up disdain and a feeling of anti Englishness. I don’t know what their issue is? They like the English money though, they’ll take that all day long but really make sure that you know you are abroad!

Of course many are quite friendly and the mountains are amazing. :D

thats the reason i said days ago that we should have a vote whether they get independance or not and all the rules and regs they,d have to follow once they got it. knowing them they, want the best of all worlds and wemd be bailing them out quickly.

so England will play Senegal in the next round. Scotland on the other hand will play the bagpipes in the departure lounge.

Scotland now have a .000046 chance of qualifying for the knock out rounds, this is what’s needed.

An eagle has to land on my left foot within the next ten minutes.
Shergar has to turn up (alive) looking for breakfast in a bar in Worthing.
Croatia to lose to by at least three goals.
Three further results to go a certain way.

No, I think it’s all over for Scotland. Still if Mr FIFA has his way World Cups will be every two years and contain 64 teams. So they can keep on going till they get it right.

My sauce tells that it's currently touch and go-
Lord Lucan is riding Shergar, but is struggling to find Infidel's house as his Sat Nav packed up in the extreme heat!

Clarke has resigned even after signing a 4 year contract, fish he doesn’t need the cash, once the furore dies down he will come under the spotlight for his defensive tactics albeit from what I read the defence gifted Brazil 2 goals. No matter who takes charge they have a very limited choice of players, it’s not like the old days when English clubs recruited from north of the border and most top clubs had a couple jocks in their team.
