This has been so obviously going to happen for ages. But nevertheless, good news for common sense.

Many manufacturers are stepping back from all-electric vehicle (EV) plans, either by scaling back production, canceling specific models, or delaying their transition timelines to focus on hybrids and gas-powered cars.
Having watched a few vlogs on EV cars they don’t fill me with confidence, if they break down many places can’t fix them, you just can’t pop down to your local garage even the main dealers because they are so high tech.

Despite the talk from the green nutters, electric cars are still not as practical as petrol/ diesel vehicles especially on range and refuelling times…and when something goes wrong with an electric car it ain’t cheap.
These deadlines are basically to get people off the roads, because in all honesty there will be no cheap motoring when it’s all electric as even the second hand market will be expensive…we’re going backwards as regards mobility for general public….while most of th3 world carries on driving petrol/ diesel vehicles we have to set an example for principled nutters who run our lives.

it took many years for petrol and diesel vehicles to reach the stage of reliability they did. not just a few years like they did with electric. they might well be the future but more work needs to be done for them to reach that stage. same for the charging of them and the range they have.

Two things I’ve picked up lately. These electric cars are so heavy the damage roads and car parks, also, to buy tyres is really expensive.

I’ve had an electric car for 3 1/2 years now, not had any issues with it at all, haven’t needed to spend a penny on servicing or maintenance (or road tax, but that will soon change). Costs £7 for a full charge overnight on my driveway, does 380 miles on a full battery. It works perfectly for me.

eventually they,ll work perfectly for everyone like a petrol or diesel car does and the choices there is. the mad rush to get them out and sold and making them a political pawn certainly has not helped and has possibly put more people off than the initial high cost. as i have said just put the breaks on until the research has gone further regarding the vehicle and charging and maintainance places.

It’s not the cars themselves (or owners) I dislike, it’s the OTT speed of forced change.

Topic drift, my gas oven packed in recently and I was forced into buying an electric one because of gov policy. It’s a good machine but maybe three times the cost to use.

Sorry to hear about your gas oven, what is this government policy?

I got a letter the other day saying I qualified for a grant towards a heat source pump, stating one of the advantages would be "no more gas bills to worry about"....er if only, I still have a gas hob so will still have a supply and a standing charge which is about £30 a month even if I don't use any gas at all.

The daftest thing is that heat pumps are not very good unless your house has been designed for one. Installed in an older house you'd probably need to upgrade to bigger radiators, improve insulation, and almost hermetically seal the building for it to be effective, otherwise it'd be going like the clappers costing a fortune in electricity.
Ironically one thing that is highly recommended when a heat pump is installed is underfloor heating due to the water in the heating system and radiators being a lot cooler with a heat pump. And guess which mad b*stard now wants to ban underfloor heating??

You can buy stand alone cookers and hobs that’s okay however I have a (or did have) a built in gas oven - however no new builds are legally allowed to put these in, meaning firms do not make them anymore, meaning you can’t find one to buy.

You might find a dodgy make in some little shop in London or on the interweb but apart from that you’re flogging a dead horse.

So they haven’t actually been banned but you can’t buy what isn’t there.

Regarding built in gas ovens have you tried AEG website they may have what you require

All caused by the mad dreams of Milliband, a proven failure last time around and learnt nothing from the experience……like a man who drove his car into a wall at 30 mph but thought it a good idea to try it at 60 mph and puzzled by the outcome.

Starmer is going to be announcing plenty of U Turns and populist ideals (although likely to be talking rather than actions) in the next few days as he desperately tries to cling into power.

at the end of the day how much change in the climate will there be with only people in this country following the ideals of this government.

Mad Mr M could well be our next chancellor, I’ve read he wants the job. It’s funny that these politicians can become overnight experts in a completely new area, they really are remarkable people.

do not need to go all the way down to london for that. local councillors suffer from the same disease after a few weeks in the job.

how many times have we said in life that i theory this or that should work but in prectise it doesn,t. that sums up the big percentage of them and the rest its do as i say not as i do.

It’s dawned on the thicko’s that they are actually unpopular with the public beyond belief and have started rewriting their ‘plan’…even our MP appears to be on a charm offensive.

Wouldn’t last long, he’d keep doing a U turn back to the dairy every morning.

Probably just drop half a pint off for pensioners when they need a pint too.

He’d do a U turn, then turn back, back and forth that many times the milk would turn to butter.

So very disappointing.
