Hello Poolies

I’ve just seen an old programme posted on one of my teams ( Grimsby ) Facebooks groups , it was from the last day if the season 1989.
I was at this game and remember your fans all wearing Hankies on their heads and a few of them had string vests.
This was a sunny day and you was in a Seaside resort but I’ve often wondered , was the the start of your end of season fancy dress tradition ?
I know a lot of clubs fans ( including us) have done this for years going back to the 80s.
Not many do it as well and coordinated as yourselves.

I’d be interested to know if this was where it all started ?

I was one of those with a string vest and knotted handkerchief. It didn't have anything to do with what happens now, there was a group of us who used to go away in hired transit vans, and thought it would be a laugh dressing like holiday makers as we were going to Cleethorpes. We had a cracking weekend, we went to Skegness afterwards for a night out.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Hopefully you’ll get yourselves back where you belong soon enough , we had a few years of misery in non league and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

We’ve got our 2nd leg against Salford on Friday and it looks like we’ve left ourselves a lot to do.

I’d rather have you lot in the league over the likes of Salford any day of the week , through brought less than a bus load for the league game and around 500 for their play off game.

Clubs like theirs add absolutely no value to league football

at least you have got rid of the teas shop boys raping and pillaging your town once a season bringing a sell out away support as well. mind you fleetwood are still around the club that started all this.
